Looking at those links, that spoiler requires drilling holes to secure it to the car. That is not an option, the Loder1899 spoiler mounts with 3M adhesive tape. Plus I'm not even sure the mounting surface is the same curvature as the CMax? I'm willing to bet it is not. Lots of things to consider might not work when using the spoiler from another make car.

Lots of good info Kostby thanks for adding it.

2014 tire Aero Dams available from FORD
mtb9153 replied to ptjones's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Paul Frontier Ford here in town has 2 2014's and 14 2013's and nothing on file in their parts database for either the air dams or the rear window deflectors. -
interesting thought, all depends on how wide the tailgate is on a Vibe and whether you can still buy one since Pontiac is out of business. I'm sure there are 3rd party suppliers somewhere. Thanks for the heads up.

Thule racks with panoramic roof
mtb9153 replied to valkraider's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
I assume this doesn't not interfere with the radio/GPS antenna? -
Phil1336 I only got the in email $750 check with my SEL purchase in September of 2012. Quite possibly the others are what got me second extended warranty for no additional cash? I was told that after purchase there was a refund that was forgotten and did I want a cash payment or roll it into an additional extended warrranty? Which I took.

2014 tire Aero Dams available from FORD

Above is not the best picture of the air dams but it does look like there are two tabs on the side which mount it to the under car tray? Also a mounting bolt on the front if I remember correctly when I took this picture on a local 2014. Doesn't quite show in this picture. -
TopherTheME first of all welcome and congrats on your decision to buy an Energi SEL. You made the wise choice and I know you will enjoy it immensely and that will grow each passing day. Since you have an SEL I think you probably have the the auto wiper option providing you bought the right option group? I have it with the 303A option group along with the panoramic roof window option. So enjoy and look forward to hearing from you in the future, but do check in with the Energi forum as your questions will be better received. :)

Shattered Rear Passenger Window
mtb9153 replied to AllisonRSW's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
Hey maybe it was a space rock? Did anybody see that video on YouTube of the guy skydiving and suddenly he narrowly is missed by a rock which whizzes by in front of him. He was filming from hundreds of feet in the air as he free fell with a camera at the time a you can clearly see the rock going by after he slowed it down in a video editor. We need to start watching out for the debris falling from the sky it seems? -
I really don't know but I don't think the pedals can be adjusted but I could be wrong, good luck with that.

2014 tire Aero Dams available from FORD
mtb9153 replied to ptjones's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Good reporting Paul thanks for the info. Again I'm still unsure whether I will get these? Have you decided? With me seeming to always drive up and over curbs in parking lots, those bumps would be surely damaging in no time. I always seem to cut too short when going around curbs in parking lots have really dinged my wheels too. I don't know what's up with my depth perception lately? I also put a dent in my left front fender while driving through a drive through window at McDonalds recently, really pissed me off. They put this dang pole right next to the pickup window so you wouldn't hit the building and it sticks out to much to allow for grabbing your food. I also backed into a car in a parking lot and pushed in the right rear fender where the bumper meets the fender. I think I should quit driving? -
Drove around town today with the styrofoam plug in place on the rear tailgate, didn't really notice any difference, but then I wasn't expecting anything. I need to run down to the crafters store and buy a roll of yarn to do some tuft testing from the back seat door to the rear bumper. Then mount the GoPro on the wifes car and do some cruising around town.

Hey why not, I read recently that in one of the race car series running this year they will be racing EV. Now that I would love to see and hear the quiet of the cars as they passed me in the grandstands. No more earplugs, I love it. I've attended races ranging from Can-Am to Indy Cars since 1969. Rarely wore hearing protection, yeah I know and that's why I'm so hard of hearing at 60. But I am deaf in my left ear from a brain tumor so that doesn't count. I will miss the deep throaty sound of a big block chevy race motor...awh music to my ears...oops ear (singular)

Thats the first change I made when Maxus drove into the garage for the first time. For that matter any new car I've bought. -
2014 tire Aero Dams available from FORD
mtb9153 replied to ptjones's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Paul the 2014 I looked at in March or late February, it looked like there was a bolt holding it from the front on both the front and rear air dam. I'm sure there was more to it than that but that's all I can remember. -
Same deal with the rear window air deflectors, 2014's come with them yet they don't show up on the parts department computer database. Is Ford deliberately trying to hide these items from us? If we buy them to upgrade a 2013, it's $$$ is their pocket.

I went ahead and placed my styrofoam plug in place on the back of the tailgate. It's held on with clear duct tape. I must say all the effort did come out nice and I do like the way it looks and fits. But I think the one from Loder1899 is my next choice of action. Since there is no rain in the forecast for the next week in Central California, I'm going to leave it in place to see what happens, see if I notice any improvement or if the tailgate stays cleaner but first I have to wash it cause the whole car is a mess from the last rain we had last week.

Chinko looks very nice, you are doing a top notch job with your blacking out. If that is plasti-dip on the tailights it is much darker than what I did and have since removed. I'm curious what you used? I have toyed with the idea of blacking out the hood and using the faux carbon fiber process plasti-dip has available
-
Actually I removed the Smoke tint Plasti-dip they are back to stock. But yes the taillights were still brightly functional even in bright sunlight. Knock on wood I never was pulled over by the CHP and CA. is notorious for that sort of thing. Will I do it again? Probably I only removed it because the coating became damaged by cleaning solution spilled on it. The only thing I didn't like was due to the rubberize paint it makes the surface not smooth and because my garage is tight fitting if I squeezed between my rollup garage door and the back of Maxus, sometimes my shirt would leave a mark on the rubberized texture of the coating. That was my only negative to using the stuff. Sorry ScubaDadMiami, I thought you were referring to what I did to Maxus. As for the picture taken by Chinko I don't know what he used? But I like it, much darker than my application.
-
ScubaDadMiami, I hear you but I decided it wasn't worth it cause I think it will end up costing almost as much and I just don't have the expertise for working with resin layup or creating a negative mold from my styrofoam plug for making positive copys. If I botched the carbon fiber I'd be out $100+ just in cloth. Nor do I have the work area large enough to do it in my garage. Yes I like the look of my spoiler better which is why I made it that way, but at 62 years old working with strong fumes like epoxy resin would make my asthma a living hell. While I was sculpting the foam even with a respirator mask on I was coughing my lungs out. 62Lincoln thanks for your enthusiasm I'm stoked to get a CF rear spoiler. I love CF it looks really high tech and racy. I want to somehow fabricate a CF front wind splitter to run across underneath the front bumper like pictured below.
-
I heard back from Loder1899 and the guy I emailed with is Maximillan Loder. He told me they can fill my request to build their spoiler with Carbon Fiber, including shipping for $410. I'm not sure I can build it any cheaper so I'll probably order one. He told me it would be a 2-3 weeks to produce. I think with the fuss and mess of working with the materials to do it myself and with no guarantee's how it will turn out? It is worth it. Plus I don't have a large enough work space in my garage to do this. Fortunately they take PayPal for payment.

From what I've heard take a heat gun or hair dryer point at the emblem you want to remove. Heating softens the adhesive. Take a strong flat piece of flexible plastic like used to spread Bondo and force under the emblem. Should slide right off. But just be careful not to damage your paint by scratching or over heating.

Announcing Advance Notice 14C03 Compliance Recall

Don't plan to trade it in or resell it, so not worried about about low values. Maxus is a keeper.
