  1. no problemo, planning to go back maybe after work this afternoon to see if my salesman friend who sold me the car will let me inside to look under the hood for the seal improvements. Also check for changes underneath for tire deflectors as outlined in earlier post regarding the changes
  2. this is precisely why I bought an emergency hammer for breaking out the window. Also it has in the handle a blade which will allow cutting the seat belt if needed.
  3. Brother Jus, I took several pics of the rear glass which I posted with my previous thread. I'm planning on going back by the the dealer and get my salesman to open the car for me so I can open the hood to look for the improve front seal. Also underneath to inspect for air deflectors at each wheel.
  4. BTW to anyone wanting a 2013 or a 2014 and you are close to the bay area. Frontier Ford still has 23 in their inventory, with one being this 2014. Full range of models, both Hybrid and Energi's. There are two black, Ingot silver metallic. Also some Ice Storm models. Most show on the window sticker priced starting at $33k
  5. Ok everyone I actually saw a 2014 SEL at my dealership where I bought Maxus. After closely looking it over externally since it was locked and there was no way to get inside. The only changes I found was some added aerodynamic winglets added to the rear glass on either side as shown below. Some sort of attempt by Ford to clean-up the air traveling over the glass and off the rear end. From the looks of it, they seems to be added right to the rear glass, probably by using some industrial strength double back tape. I went into the parts department to inquire about them, thought I'd order me a pair. But it appears that they have no info about them, and they don't even show up on their parts software. I told the parts guy not even as part of the rear glass assembly, thinking they probably would only sell it as part of a replacement glass kit? Nothing came up. So I told them I'd check back in a few months when hopefully there would be more info. As for the other changes outlined at the start of this tread about front and rear tire deflectors, this car had nothing added on all four corners. I'll go back later when my salesman will be there and get him to open the car and let me take a peek under the hood. Stay tuned...
  6. standard YES but not all got it included at the time the car rolled off the assembly line. Mine didn't get one but my dealership got me one for free. I heard a story that no one knew what they were for so they weren't installed in the car during assembly. I think they started getting put in the center console on the later 2013 models. Early ones (like mine September 2012) didn't get one since no one knew what they were for.
  7. So very sorry to hear of this damage so early on as a Max owner too. There's no hope for society anymore I've given up when people don't have the brains or scruples to know they should be responsible and leave a note. I'd be looking for someone to bash if I were you.
  8. paint em black cheaper
  9. very colorful picture, with the CMax in blue and everyone wearing a rainbow of bright colors. Looks like a very brisk day.
  10. while your at it send some rain to the west coast. Has been like spring here for weeks.
  11. right now I'm doing good to keep my numbers above 43.0 AvMPG. Got down to 42.7 on my way to work this morning. Not using the heater but have it set to vent keeping my inside temp set at 70 for the wife's comfort (who is always cold) while recirculating the air.
  12. picture it being placed just like it is shown in this picture but sitting wedged between the two cupholders in your center console. Basically a divider or separator placed in the narrow between the two holders
  13. Very nice Brother Jus, love your touch-up sorry it didn't fit into the fourth corner :(
  14. Jus not trying to give you a bad time, but I think you meant Spock's death in the radiation chamber
  15. I assumed they are flexible to be mounted on the headlights? I looked at both names you posted and I'm not sure which are the ones you used.
  16. Interesting, how are these mounted to the headlights? As well as the ones below the main grille opening. I've not seen yellow LED's
  17. Well put Jus :victory: but I do think Laurel has some valid comments. Ford could have demonstrated a little more education for what it takes to get the most from a Hybrid, but I'm sure the greed of the almighty $$$ kept that from happening. Good comments both of you. I still hate to see owners walking away from their purchase though because they feel cheated.
  18. I'm sorry, I just have to get something off my chest... I spoke yesterday with a lady who told me she is involved in a case with a CMax owner who is actively seeking legal compensation from Ford. Claiming she was blatantly misled to thinking 47/47mpg was possible from her CMax. Her claim is she barely pulls out mid 30's on a regular basis. I quickly said to this lady that if that is her belief, then she doesn't know how to achieve 47mpg from her CMax. Because I do it all the time or I did during the summer and fall months. Now in the throws of winter with cooler temps in Northern California it isn't happening like I'd like to see. Granted we don't deal with the frigid temps of the midwest and further north to the great Canadian border like allot of our friends and owners. Those are totally different circumstances, of which I have little knowledge of how to overcome in the quest for the elusive number 47. I venture it isn't possible in the dead of winter. Here in California I was not getting 40's or even dreaming of 50's as many of you know from my constant whining on this forum. But thanks to the teachings of mileage wizards like Brother Jus, Paul, Matt and many others who's names escape me, but whom I had the privilege of learning from, helped turn things around. Once I learned the trick and found "The Sweet Spot"...things changed for Maxus and Me. These beastie's require a talented and patient foot, with emphasis on the the word patient. You must drive precisely and think ahead as you are driving. Plan your driving, braking and acceleration. All while driving over land as level as you can and still get where you need to go. Plan out your driving route. I found that driving at the speed limit 100% of the time, not just some of the time, which came as a very hard lesson to learn for a speed freak like me from the 80's. Not nailing the pedal but slowly pulling out from a stop and while pissing off all the people late for work as I methodically increase my speed to the posted limit over a longer distance, makes a big difference. In the same respect it goes for braking too. Plan your breaking over a longer distance and do it gradually, not mashing the pedal but lightly increasing the pedal to bring yourself to a stop, which is still something I still wrestle with. By not doing this is a sure way to loose Avg MPG numbers on your dashboard and loose your leaves. Now I know none of what I've shared here comes as a surprise to anyone who has frequented the high mileage Hall of Fame. But I just have very little patience for owners who claim it can't be done because I was one of them. Also that they were lied too by Ford dealers at the time they signed their purchase agreement. It all boils down to what you know and if you want to get the MPG that the EPA Regulators posted was possible. Lastly how badly you want it and if you are willing to work at it? Because driving like a regular gas car driver won't get you there in a CMax, simple as that. It's a new driving style and experience my friends. End of Sermon. Happy CMaxing... :shift:
  19. This makes me want to create a pic of me and Maxus, quick! open Adobe Illustrator time to edit.
  20. Sorry the christmas lights on my house are reflecting off the rear glass. Took the pics late last night with the garage door open so I could get the shot.
  21. This is what I was referring too that I'm trying with two of my pods which I doubt will have much affect.
  22. This seemed very promising until I read jmckinley's comments. But I do hope Ford researches this concept cause if it has any benefit and they produce it. I'd buy another CMax to replace the wifes aging Saturn Ion.
  23. Too bad your not closer to the west coast, because I'm pretty certain Frontier Ford has a Ruby Red with Pano glass but maybe not an SEL?
