C-MAXes here, there, everywhere.
mtb9153 replied to Riddley's topic in Sightings - C-MAX Hybrid's Spotted!
Your in Texas, so black is unpopular, just guessing? :) -
should be a 6 month deal, mine quit working at 6 months. They keep bugging me to reinstate it but I don't want it as I pretty much only listen to streamed tunes from my iPhone and the FM

Geez that sounds like a mistake I would do. Like what I did to the rear spoiler (see my earlier thread) after installing my GasPods.

Stuff doesn't fall off my glove box shelf anymore! :)

Going to make my own, but thanks for asking. -
Journey to 800+ Miles on a single tank in a C-Max Hybrid
mtb9153 replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Fuel Mileage
Jus I would love to see 63.5 AvMPG, but I know what you mean since you are on a quest for greatness :worship: . I struggled to stay in the forty's today. Guess it is because we have been so overcast and sprinkles for the last 48 hours and muggy at 75% humidity. Very rare for the bay area. But suppose to be hitting 90's by the weekend and 100  next Monday and Tuesday. Crazy weather for NorCal. A/C on full time there BABY! Come to think of it, our grille does look a bit like an Ashton Martin but way cheaper  -
salsaguy, if it didn't fit I would have just walked home with it since I live 7 minutes away on foot. Then go back and get the Max. Thanks for asking.

I still think that if the MFT ran on Mac power...we wouldn't be having all these issues. Microsoft and PC's suck, Yah I am an Apple junkie but they are rock solid where bugs are concerned, or at least that has been my experience.

Journey to 800+ Miles on a single tank in a C-Max Hybrid

All I can say is good luck and you make me sick, because today was an even worse day for my driving above 40 AvMPG -
Thought I'd share this with those out there who are still on the fence about whether to buy a CMax for fear it can't carry much. Yesterday the wife wanted a new screen door for the patio door. I went over to Home Depot and found one that suited our needs and her requirements. Thought to myself....hummm wonder if this will fit in the CMax? Got out in the parking lot and I'm happy to say it fit. Take a look at the attached picture. Had to put it all the way to the dashboard to close the tailgate, but it fit. Very nice cargo room in a sporty little efficient package. Enjoy the ride...

Very nicely done, couldn't have done it better myself. Right now I only have the ability to shoot video from 2 perspectives since I only have two cameras. I do have an old Sony Bloggie which could give me a 3 camera perspective but the Bloggie is very limited in what it can offer in this sort of application. As far as editing the 3 camera footage into this format with 3 screens it is a little bit more work since the audio tracks from all 3 video's have to be sync'ed together in the editing timeline but I can certainly do it on my MacPro using Final Cut Pro software. However there is one problem right now for me to do any of this right now and that is because just today a problem has occurred with my Canon XHA1 with the internal output board. Apparently it is blown out because I'm unable to export my raw footage I took today from the camera using the firewire port and into my editing suite. So not sure when I will be able to do my own technical video series like this guy did. But again his is very nicely done and VERY informative for learning about how to best get the maximum performance out of our cars.

There optics are the best, plus for the money, best bang for the buck they offered 20x optical zoom on the XHA1. Others only had less range. When my camcorder went down to Compton for repairs they did an excellent job and got it back in a reasonable amount of time. Plus refurbished the exterior of the camera, it looked like new again. Plus they are great in low light situations, able to shoot with good quality with no extra lighting required for the shoot. I believe my camera is rated at 1LUX or one candle light power.

Would be nice but all the owners I've seen driving around in my area seem very much to themselves and aren't using this forum for information because their CMax is just a car that allows them to travel from point A to point B in a green way with less fuel consumption. I have yet to meet a local owner who wants to talk about their Max or waves back at me as I see them driving around the valley. Not at all like the owners I associated with for years in my previous car club. We got together regularly for gatherings and picnics during the summer just to hang out and talk cars even if in a parking lot somewhere.

most camera tripod mounting holes are a standard 1/4-20 fine thread. My plan is to start with shooting video looking at the gauges and the MFT energy flow screen while doing some voiceover describing what kind of driving conditions/challenges I'm facing presently. This will be very strange for me since most professional Videographers have an unwritten rule that the camera never talks, someone will stand in front of the camera saying what needs to be said while recording. But since I have no PA (Professional Assistant) working with me on my projects, I'm flexible with that rule. Once these are ready for viewing I will post a thread with a YouTube link. As far as answering your questrion..."maybe you can sell a setup to Jus and recump so they can shoot some vids." That would be complicated since my GoPro equipment is valued at over $250. My professional HDV camcorder (Canon XHA1) cost me $4k for the camera alone. All of my related equipment is over $15k value. Not an option unless they want to pay for it in advance.

Actually Jus, not the same exact route but much of the same type of roads and traffic patterns. I'm hot by nature so I usually have the A/C on unless it is winter time obviously.

Attached are some pics I took of my newly fabricated mount for my GoPro Cam hanging facing forward between the front seats. I took a 23" long piece of clear acrylic rod 3/4" diameter and compression fit it between the two front head rest support rods. By cutting a small notch or groove into either end of the rod it holds the acrylic rod in place with the cam mounted using the GoPro accessory I bought for putting the cam on my bike handlebars. Easy mod and doesn't require drilling or modification of the Max interior.

Thank You Ford for the 3.5.1 and Liftgate!

Curious are you using the thumb drive to stream music? Wondered because I stream my favorite tunes off my iPhone 5 using Spotify. I used to download my favorites from iTunes to my iPhone. So now I have allot more free room on my iPhone for things like Apps since I don't store music anymore. -
Well got the GasPods removed from their first location which damaged the rear spoiler when I opened the liftgate. Now they are installed on the roofline just behind the Nav antenna, which is how the manufacturer said to install them. But I didn't check their installation instructions and pics on their website...go figure.

Very interesting Laurel, love the story about the "Big Texan" Steakhouse in Amarillo if I remember correctly? Went there one time back in the 70's as the family was crossing the panhandle coming from Denver on our way to my Grandparents in East Texas. I was about 19 at the time and thought I could eat a horse. I told my folks I wanted to go for the Big Texan challenge. Which meant I had to eat in an hour a 24 or 32oz 2inch thick steak. Two huge stuffed baked potatoes, two large salads I think, Texas Toast which is big and thick and Lord knows what all else. If I could do it the meal was free and I got my picture and name plastered in the wall of fame. If not then had to pay for it and the price in those days was as big as Texas. Great fun we had there.

Believe me I have toyed with the idea of fabricating my own even before I bought the Max. I toyed with the idea back in the 90's when I was a gasoholic speed freak driving my Typhoon and Syclone. But I never went for it because I was thinking in terms of making them from some kind of composite material and I really don't have the know how or resources to do mold making and laying glas or carbon fiber, plus big bucks to prototype them right. So when I saw the GasPods for reasonable price...I ran with it. I think it was you Jus who posted the link to their website? If so then much thanks for letting me know about them. I will keep everyone updated on any great strides I see with having them in future tanks. Speaking of mpg, today was frustrating for me because I was struggling to maintain 40mpg doing all the things which were giving me great numbers yesterday like 43-48 all with all city driving. How can things change over night doing the same things and on the same tank of gas? Nothing really different about today except maybe that it was warmer today for us here. We got close to 90 and I think yesterday was more in the range of 78-85 at most. Just bugs me that just when I think I have it figured out, things go south for me again.

Ok I was born in Houston in 1953 but moved out of Texas in 1960, so I don't quite fit the mold as a non-Texan but I do know where Boerne is. It is northwest of San Antonio, southwest of Austin and almost located at the top point of a sideways triangle if you drew lines between Austin, San Antonio, and Beorne. Ok, I cheated, I looked it up on google maps because I'd never heard of it or ever been there. Driven across Texas many times from Northern California to the hometown of my Father. My cousins live there many miles to the northeast of Boerne in the East Texas forest area of Angelina County. A town called Lufkin, Texas and home of Lake Sam Rayburn. I bet as you all read this your saying to yourself...I don't I give a S":T, and that's ok, I would say that if I wasn't from Texas originally, but just wanted to share those facts.

New York City taxicabs go C-MAX
mtb9153 replied to GreenChicago's topic in Sightings - C-MAX Hybrid's Spotted!
StoBro2 I like that Tangerine Scream color, the day my CMax was delivered and I first laid eyes on her, the car transport driver lined all the cars in a single file line out in a side lot. Sitting in front of my Max was an ST in this color. It really caught my eye, very sporty and cool looking car. If I had not been so hung up on getting a hybrid, I might have gone for that car. -
Laurel there is such a thing as paint less dent removal, I guess I could check into it and see how expensive it would be? Couldn't hurt. Thanks for the suggestion. Have a great day in our neighbors to the north.
