Well my Max goes in tomorrow morning so fingers crossed all goes well. :clapping:

I have found that I can maintain good fuel usage and economy by staying in the slow lane and watching the left screen where the Average MPG is displayed. As I climb a hill I apply pressure on the gas pedal but keep the white line on the left side of the screen so that it never exceeds the 2-bar line. This seems to give me better fuel economy.

Jus yes I realize there is a size for attachments. I tried reducing the size like I have successfully done it many times before when I added an attachment. But was never able to make it small enough to get it uploaded. I don't follow you when you say...Might I suggest you do a search of the forum as many posters have a few threads as to how to post up pictures here and NOT use the attachment to the post. Sorry it does not compute with my brain for some reason.

Just finished my last tank of gas and recorded the following numbers on the screen. However I didn't take a picture, I know you are suppose to have a picture to substantiate your claim. All I can prove is the writing the wife put on my gas receipt before I reset trip1. I can't post it since the forum will not allow me to attach any pictures. I get an error message which says this upload failed. What gives moderators? :happy feet: 538.4 miles on the tank :drop: 259.3 EV miles, best I've ever recorded odometer reading 15645.9 3 miles to empty I also recorded a 45.9 as my personal high for today for 90% freeway miles. I think the gaspods are definitely making a difference. By maintaining a 2 bar reading on hill climbs today I was able to drive 130miles with my AvMPG starting at 42.1AvMPG and finishing with 45.6AvMPG

Thanks for the encouragement salsaguy, making 600 miles is something I have wanted to achieve since I first learned about the challenge. My fingers are crossed

Let me say that I have had higher mileage numbers but I think they were flukes after resetting my fuel history. I had been so frustrated with continuous low numbers failing below 40.0AvMPG so I'd reset the fuel history to bring up my numbers up fast and make me feel better. I did post a screenshot which shows 109.4AvMPG but again that was after resetting my fuel history shortly before shutting the engine off in my garage. It was a short trip and the computer had not settle down yet. But these numbers I reported yesterday and today are honest to goodness numbers reflecting continuous careful driving over longer periods of travel than I've ever done since getting my Max last September. If this keeps up I will feel my Max has redeemed itself after 10 months of averaged numbers in the upper 30's low 40's. With the upgrade being done next week, I hope it will only get better? I have burned through the first half of my current tank and presently show 340.8 miles traveled on the first half. This is shaping up to be my best tank of gas. I've never been able to match miles per gallon between first and second half of a tank. If this keeps up and this is a big IF! this could be my first tank over 600miles???? :happy feet: :worship:

Hello Everyone, well I took another road trip today about 25 miles over pretty much flat roads local to my home. Started the day at 45AvMPG and finished at 45AvMPG. Fell as low as 44.9 and as high as 46.1 But I'm pleased to say I was able to keep my scores above 45.0 for 85% of my day before falling to 44.9 due so poor judgement. But was back at 45.0 in about 5 miles. I think my claim to success today was trying very hard to not exceed 2 bars when the ICE was running. Doing so seems to make it easier for me to maintain my MPG's. Tomorrow the wifee and I are heading back up to SFO for a day on Fishermans Wharf and Pier 39. Tourist trap of SFO I call it. I'll report more then, but without a doubt the GasPods are helping. I've noticed marked improvement in the 30-45mph range and my 55-62mph range is showing steadier numbers as well. I think it is safe to say I've locked in the sweet spot along the full width of the Max rear spoiler, placed 2 inches inboard from the edge following the radius of the spoiler. I can't seem to attach pictures of todays mileage even after I reduce their size. I keep getting an error message saying I've exceeded my attachment allotment size or something like that. Jus how do I fix this problem?

TRADED IN THE CMAX FOR A PRIUS AFTER 10 MONTHS
mtb9153 replied to MADCMAX's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
I refuse to give Japan any more American Auto workers jobs. These people do not realize who they are stabbing in the back. America and the hard working middle class men and woman. But they are so bitter I doubt they even think of who they are really hurting by buying Toyota. I'm leaving this now before my blood boils :rant2: -

fail to see how he made the better decision as miss guided as it is. Sounds like a bitter former owner -
Very interesting to say the least. If someone wants to go to that much trouble to make their car air streamlined? Why not make it look more professional?

They are 9 small aerodynamic nodules or air bumps which can be mounted with very strong adhesive or rare earth magnets placed inside the GasPod. See my earlier post in fuel mileage, I attached pictures

The GasPods seemed to really help today with my road trip. See my post in Fuel mileage titled 47AvMPG

Drove 150 miles today left home with 41AvMPG, got home with 46.5AvMPG with a daily high of 53AvMPG. Mostly driving 35-40mph on 2 lane country roads with some elevation changes. About 80 miles was exclusively on freeway at 62mph with cruise control and A/C. Came home down the Pacific Coast highway 1 from Point Reyes Lighthouse to 101 and onto the Golden Gate Bridge which is hilly and very twisty for more than 20miles. My speed average was 35mph and this was my first real test of the handling of the CMax on a very challenging road. I'm used to this kind of driving from my autocrossing and road rally days with my Datsun 240z. I must stay the CMax handled very well. Well balanced and flat through the turns. If I got a little too hot into some of the turns and had to stab the brakes, the 4 wheel discs were very responsive and had plenty of braking power even when I pushed the car a bit. Quite pleased with this first road handling trip. As heavy as the CMax is, it was very responsive and flat through the tight turns and sometimes very bumpy country road. The CMax is great little sports car that also gets excellent mileage. Only used a 1/4 tank on todays trip

No body got any thoughts on this? With all the brainy tech responses about fuel saving tricks and tips, I thought there would be something to come back. Guess it's just a dumb question which there isn't enough interest to reply to?

I have no problems with my SEL in mountains, it handles great. My past cars have all been performance handling cars. I used to autocross so I need something that matches my driving styles. The car comes from the factory with gas pressurized shocks and a potent sway bar in the rear, almost a 1" diameter. Equally in the front. Plenty of power when climbing up steep grades. I think you will be quite happy buying a CMax over a Subaru, plus you go farther on less gas.

Wanted to share a brief video I took of the trip summary at the end of my travels today. Can be viewed through YouTube. Today also was the first time I did any driving after changing the positioning of my GasPods with the help of Aerohance company President Susanne Chess. I don't know if it is wishful thinking or already I'm seeing some improvement. I started my travels today with a screen AvMPG of 41.1 and at the end of my driving I was up to 42.0AvMPG. For the last 2 weeks I have not been gaining any MPG only loosing. Today's driving was mostly on level surface streets and a few miles of freeway driving at 62mph. Temps were around 80degrees. Hopefully this is a new direction? I will be doing some road trips this weekend and racking up over a hundred miles. So we'll see what becomes of it with the repositioned GasPods.

11STiLimited's Member's Journal (updated 11/08/13)

Wanted to throw in a thought regarding using Plasti-dip since I used it first on my wheels as everyone knows and then I did the large grilled opening cause just didn't care for that cheesy chrome stuff running horizontally across the opening. Nice thing about Plasti-Dip is it can be removed by just pulling up a corner or edge. If enough coats were applied giving the coat a nice thickness it pulls right off in a single sheet. 1StiLimited could do this on the Ford Oval if he wanted too. Comes right off even months after application, or so the website www.dipmyride.com says. -
Well I drove a bit around town today, short trips and a few miles on the freeway. Set the cruise to 62 with A/C as always and didn't see anything positive happening to make me think there was an improvement so far. But it didn't have much of a chance since it is was short trips. I'm about done with my current tank with a little more than 100 miles left before empty. Checked the trip1 numbers and this tank is about 470miles give or take. Not too pleased with this tank or the last previous 2 for that matter. My numbers have been steadily falling. Right now my AvMPG is 41.5, it was 42+ when I pulled out of the garage this morning As for my brake scores, all I can say is they aren't consistent. If I really work at it I can land a 100% here and there. But the next time I break it will be maybe 95 or 93. I did have to slam on the brakes to avoid a close call today and got my worst score of 83%. So I'm like a yoyo going up and down. I'm afraid I'm not too good at this game of being Fuelly.

Ford recalls some 2013 C-Max hybrids over roofs.

Boy dramatic video footage showing the engineering efforts of Ford Engineer's. In that attached still photo, those crash dummies certainly will have sore and stiff necks...Ouch! Bet this strikes too close to home for that one owner who had the misfortune to have tested this impact first hand? -
Stopped by a small fruit stand yesterday which is one the last one's standing in commercialized Silly Corn Valley, called J & P's Fruit Stand. Wanted to cash in on the locally grown summer harvest of Nectarines and Black Plums. As I drove up I began to see the outline of a familiar front grille as I approached. Turned out to be my closest encounter with another White Platinum CMax. Not sure if it was an SEL as I wasn't observant enough to remember if it had SEL badging and fog lights vs. air scoops? But it was purchased from the same Dealer, Frontier Ford. Since there was no one else at the fruit stand looking over the vast array of gorgeous summer bounty, I started up a line of conversation with the young guy who was also looking over the fruit trying to make his selection. I told him..."I like your choice of rides", he looked up and saw my CMax across the street from his. Don't know why I didn't snap a picture of the two Platinum's almost side by side? But I didn't. Of course I said I love mine and I think he said the same. Asked how his mileage was working for him? I said I had been pulling out a 40 - 45 range most of the last week in local driving. He said he was only getting in the high 30 range. As I had finished choosing my fruit and had paid, I started to walk away while saying my usual signature ending like here on the forum..."Enjoy the Ride". Oh one last thing, I asked if he'd heard of the forum? Told him it was a great site to gain tons of good information about CMax and make some good friends with co-owners. I can never remember the exact sequence of words for the site, you'd think I could since I have it advertised across the top of my rear window. I said just type a google search for CMax Hybrid Forum and you will find it. So hopefully he will stop by soon and strike up a thread? Just wanted to share this, have a great Sunday.
