  1. Nah, anytime you drive for MPG, you are always trading time for mileage and to worry about crap like this is absurd, so you're gonna get to the next red light a little later or sit there...big f*cking whoopie doo. Plus when you are hypermiling you're should always conscious of the guy behind you so you need to back off somewhat from your game and go with the flow - start EV and then kick in the ICE. If no one is behind you, who cares if you EV from 0 to 35 mph. From my experience, I do not have any issues going from 0 to 10mph or even 15mph EV as most traffic in LA is somewhat slow anyway, everyone enjoying the bluebird skies and the 80+ temps ;)
  2. Yeah pomtrey, I told the Ford engineers about that - especially SEL, if its not included, its a worthy option to have. I totally luv the folding mirrors in my Jaguar as well and I totally miss it. Oh since it got hot here in Los Angeles, 84F today, my AC was on and I had to sit there waiting at the clients, I'll add a wishlist of COOLING seats. Watch, summer will be here and those leather seats will be all sweaty...ugh.
  3. Nice one mtb! Very nice! That is super tank there. You could have pushed another 30 miles safely imo but when you gotta tank, you gotta do it. At 8066, your engine should be pretty good so perhaps a minor tweak in the hypermiling could push another 4 MPGs more to get you past 550 and then you'll be another mad Maxer carry a spare 2 gallon tank for the 600....jus' sayin ;) Also, this is a great thread to get some of the posters in this forum to post up their personal best tanks since we all drive in different states and different terrains and conditions. I like this, thank you! :)
  4. Hey, it was the Ford Irvine meeting fault man, I had to do it.....I had to do it....they made me....
  5. Yeah, that makes good sense. See yours is less, mine is like 0.4 to 0.5, low speed but I do go to the nearest quarter though which might explain my larger diff.
  6. Welcome C-Max to the C-Max forum :) Dang...no one thought of grabbing that username earlier, huh? PS not sure how you are going to handle going from a big Durango to a itty bitty CMax, be interested in reading your conversion to a hybrid car.
  7. Moral of the story - park far and walk a little further. They have "compact" spaces here and its the worse. Sometimes I will park 2 just to keep the buttheads away especially in parking lots with a lot of older cars around with dings et al. Check out the parking lots and area and park away or in corners if you think its a low end - trust me when an AMG is parked next to you- he has no wish to ding your door. Sorry to see about your ding.
  8. Not me, its commercialization like the gmail key words. Somehow the site owners have to pay for the cost of running this site - as it gets more hits, the higher the bandwidth, the costlier it gets.
  9. Don't sweat this Ron, both of us have got way past zero on red and theres still "plenty" of gas left in the tank. It takes a while to get used to the new "balls" when seeing :rant2: . ;) Side issue - whats your diff between your "used" gallons and what you're filling up?
  10. "Thats brilliant, yeah" in your typical English/Aussie accent.
  11. DozerBob - no freaking way - thats awesome but to put the regular CMax against a fully charged energy is like a flyweight boxer vs heavyweight, get killed cause we have no muscle (aka batts) :worship: PS the fight is between you and Valk....I'm going to enjoy watching this  Hey Rachel - the wifey drove me home a couple of night ago in her Jaguar....oh man, did I feel like an old man driver in Maxine the way wifey hurled her Jaguar and gunned that car. I was thinking - hey...heres a part of the road I can coast and regen and she just fanged it doing 70+ and she brakes hard as well. She use to be a former racer.
  12. We've gone thru this before CMaxJaxon, the engine timer is on immediately as soon as you turn on the engine, regardless of whether your vehicle moves forward or not. At the Irvine meeting, I brought this up to the engineers and they acknowledge this as well - so this means that when I sit in my car with the AC on and I did waiting for my client to get home, the timer keeps ticking. So when I wait for the owner or gardeners to leave the house I can photograph it, the timer keeps ticking. Or If I happen to have the engine on while taking a call and the vehicle is not on, the timer is on. That method of calculating is illogical and you are more than happy to research the speed limits for 118/405 and the terrain especially climbing up to Rocky Peak smack bang in the middle of the 118 fwy. You may have a disdain for times sitting behind this fine car, but I have to - its part of my job, its part of the reason why I got my 1st hybrid and it is what it is - and you know what, I :wub2: it and I'll share the coolness of this MPG achievement. For you, I apologize for putting up such posts, I am done. That my friend, is a hard nut to crack, lets get to 650 first, which means that you have to get to 50+ MPG with that, assuming the safe limit is 13 gallons.
  13. Taa Daa..... 58% of the trip was pure EV :wub2: Those in SoCal, San Fernando to Madera, Simi and back and then drop down the 405 to get to Galpin. Showed this to my sales guy and his manager, blew them both away  Look at the temps...79F...thats beach weather and I had to throw on the AC on some legs.
  14. I was at Galpin this afternoon to talk to my sales guy there - the CMax are a top seller along with the Fusion Hybrids. Lots and lots of Prii drivers are converting to the CMax as they love the drive. Not surprising. Now according to him, he said very few of the CMax buyers came back to him complaining about the lack of MPGs. I asked if Galpin was one of those dealers who had a Prius there to compare against and he said no. I said they should, it would have been a deal closer, iimo - let 1st drive be a Prius and then BAM....be like going from a cold bowl of oatmeal to a Original Tommy's Chili Burger :) . Also, I showed him what I did today before I got to Galpin, a 70.4 mile trip around the San Fernando valley to Simi Valley and then drop down to Galpin and I got 54.6 MPGs and - get this - 40.8 miles were pure EV :wub2: - that is 58% of this trip was gas free, hallelujah, bring on the fireworks, CA is going to go broke with less gas tax from me....yippee :yahoo: As well, I test drove the Energi. Ice Storm and I think I :wub2: my Maxine better. Now, what was interesting was the Energi was NOT fully charged when I got my hands on it, so it had to behave like our hybrids. To me the Energi seemed less responsive and punchy in the engine, much like the same feel I had while driving the Fusion Hybrid. I have yet to get over the big hump in the back. Nonetheless, I would not say no to it either - that battery would have been awesome had it been fully charged but it was one that he pulled from the lot.
  15. Dang, last time my wife to a consignment shop, it was $2K less weight in my our wallet. No whoop, whoop here for me but she definitely had a minky whoop-whoop  Well, I think you might have a good MFT there, perhaps the 3.5.1 - should check that with the syncmyride.com and a spare usb drive. Hope it stays stable for you, not much fun to drive on houses, rivers, or along the ocean :)
  16. IMO, its a pretty cheap tshirt, I was expecting a nicer polo but hey, I can't complain...wifey wants it so I can't move it on. Those water bottles are cool and yeah, they don't fit anywhere except the centre console...than it becomes like the Eifel Tower. Great for the gym though and its a very well made bottle as well, the rubber seal comes off easily for washing.
  17. You would have got SUPERB MPG on the way back, after all the hubby's wallet got way, way lighter...right? ;) LOL, glad it worked out for you. So was your co-workers impressed with Rainette?
  18. From my thread: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/index.php?/topic/805-let-is-snow-let-it-snow-let-it-snowcmax-at-mammoth-lakes-ca/ There may be no snow chains but there is snow cable: I use and carry these (as you can see) and it drives pretty well with them. Putting them on is not the easiest and you can see, theres not exactly a ton of space there and taking them off was a trip - but bottomline, these chains are good, used them for many years in a Jaguar/Camry in various conditions.
  19. Spotted on the 101 heading south, just before the Fallbrook/Topanga exit. SEL, no tint though...
  20. Hee...I got asked the same as well, easy-peasy....plus what was an "EV+" ...geez...I thought it was the secret sauce in a Big Mac ;)
  21. So, you are a "wheres mine" crowd as well ;)
  22. No, they didn't say that specifically, at least not to me. I noticed that in the sign in sheet, there was a check box to see if you would allow the Ford Engineers to contact you. Of course, I say NO and b*gger off....sorry, wrong universe, back to reality. I also mentioned to the interior team that their door water bottle holder sucked big time. I have a hard time putting in a standard Gatorade bottle because of the vertical hip-cool looking styling, it would have been so much better if it had a lip out instead, more ergonomic. Dang....I am seeing that chic in blue Mammoth-CMax drive ad as I typing.... :) ...what was I typing... :runaway:
  23. What speeds and what on the odo, mate? Sounds like you travelled a tad more than me on the freeway from hell v2.0 (the 1st freeway from hell has to be the 405).
  24. Nice! Are you finding your MPG is improving or has it levelled out? I am still improving with mine, just over 7500 odo.
