Energi or Hybrid - weight concerns
Jus-A-CMax replied to Randi Borys's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
Thanks for the reminder, gonna go check my TP right now....(the tires should have cooled after another great MPG day) ;) -
A5 Nav Card now available
Jus-A-CMax replied to JohnTrigger's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Life does go on...but if I were you, I would be stronger with the dealer to pressure them. A new car and OLD SD card. How much did you pay for this package again? Remind them of that... -
A5 Nav Card now available
Jus-A-CMax replied to JohnTrigger's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
+1 as well. That truly stinks & frankly BAD PR. What NEW posters don't know is that last year, Ford had no issues with going from A3 to A4 and update our MFT but now, no A5? Huh? I do hope they will reconsider this silliness and I say again: BAD PR & Marketing. -
Yep, Sheldon use to be the most bumpiest, pot hole filled road due to the road being in an industrial area. Going thru this area I know I had to use more EV. However, 2 weeks ago, the whole road was repaved - wallah - I didn't even know this road had a slope jus because I had to use so much EV before, now its one NICE glide section.Oh, Los Angeles is full of streets with pot holes and no wonder why... http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2014/05/20/cbs2-investigation-some-repair-crews-not-in-a-hurry-to-fix-city-streets/ Busted. And you wonder why the recent Mayor Eric Garcia wants to now impose another 0.25% city sales tax to pay these crew to slack off. Far out, we are so screwed in this city & state.

I had a freaky day today - got a PB on my drive to work, and then I got a PB for the days total. 76.5 miles of valley city driving. Never seen these numbers till now....did I jus score a hole in one? :love_shower:

:mail: Very nice weebee...enjoy the car! & congratulations :hi5: Welcome to the CMax family  ps drop some nice tint to add some nice icing to your delicious cake ;)

You won't miss it one bit, that's what I say (add in that wee song here....) Congratulations. For the 1s couple of tanks, drive the CMax like normal. As you atune to its wonderful whimsical ways, then slowly pick up and try out some hints & tips here. Trust me when I say, this car gets better and better with age...like a fine wine & a nice Angus steak to go with it, Eat that all day long....thats what the CMax is like to drive :)

Screw the critics, my personal case, I've blown all the rubbish MPGs away. I drive City predominanty and today I drove 76.5 miles. Went to work, drove to the tailor at lunch and then a drive to the chiro and then back home. Finished the day with 66.5 MPGs, 59.1 miles in EV. Freaky good, God I :love_shower: this car. Welcome to the forum...soon you'll be hypermiling like the rest of us. Oh, when it gets cold in Denver, some grill covers may be recommended, just don't go climbing 5+ mile steep grades at full throttle.... ;) (you'll get what I mean if you do a lil search).

The CVT of the C-Max is spoiling me for other vehicles
Jus-A-CMax replied to BobJustBob's topic in General Discussion
Spot on hybridbear. I was driving a rental last October while Maxine was in the shop. Enterprise loaned me a Matrix since the insurance had a $25 cap, and it was liked driving Fred Flintstone's car. Everything was not a CMax and once I got back into my own, it felt like I graduated from a biplane to a Stealth Bomber. Quiet & efficient. CVT has to do with a lot of that...its just so magic the seemless transition from ICE to EV to ICE. Amazing engineering. -
Welcome weebee. I see a fair few Escape hybrid around here in Los Angeles. They look decent but I heard their MPG was not too good even with the hybrid. My wife liked the Escape (when we were looking at cars) but the CMax IRONICALLY fit our needs much better. PS I never even considered the CMax as I wanted a FFH but one single test drive and I was blown away by the spaciousness, the VIEW and the utilitiy of the CMax...and it had GUTS as well. Unlike its competitors. RIght now, you can't believe the MPGs I am getting...and my car is 31,000 miles, went through a bad crash (didn't quite total it) and it been awesome.... yeah, check out the sub forums and feel free to participate. Our OT (Off topic) is the CMax Bar thread, and theres a number of us just post up some "interesting" stuff there... Cheers & Welcome

@weebee 3.6.2 I checked the syncmyride and theres no more updates to my MFT at present. @sdm. *sigh* exactly :drop: @zhackwyatt could be but all I saw was the Microsoft logo and went ballistic in my mind. However, a few deep breaths, I calmed down and thought, I had a good run. Crap happens. It's back to normal, well almost, it seems to take forever to "index" and "build command". I use my thumb drive a lot with playlists et al. Abd radio too. Given up on Sirius, waste of money.

Matt, sounds like the aero mods don't add that much BUT where it comes in handy is in the cold to reduce the warm up cycle time. Hey did you gas pod yours as well, can't remember - getting old. Still doing all that city and luggin all that gear? I even took my shag bag of golf balls out to get up my MPG. Its hanging around the 62 mark for the present...Im telling you, this is a summer hybrid car. S*cks in the cold and freeways (as compared to what it can do city). Fusion turbo AWD is nice but I thought you might invest in a GTR ;) (ps go check out the Bar thread for the Gymkana, around mid way of the video, there is a very interesting race of all the top stock super cars...and guess who wins....the CMax :victory: )

So today, I finally got my MFT to screw up by itself - it decided to turn the "Audio Off" by itself. As well, no SYNC through the paddle either and I was so enjoying my techno audio at the time. Even multiple cold restarts did NOTHING. It took a Master Reset and an extended cold start to "reboot" the MFT. TO be fair, MFT has been pretty stable since mid 2013. Seriously, no issue whatsoever until it puked today. *sigh* I really hated Microsoft at that moment.

Erh, I don't think so. I made the case that for my City driving, these Gas Pods are the real deal and they do help even in the lower city speeds. While controversial, I believe each of us should make up our own mind as to whether these work or don't. I know which camp I am putting my foot in and I think most hypermilers here are of the same mind & opinion, each reaching their own independent conclusion.

Getting the best possible MPG
Jus-A-CMax replied to Seth7721's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
Today, I made a great case for a hybrid vs an Energi, I had to haul 2 loads of crates & stuff for my wife, from her stable. If I had the Energi hump, none of the crap would have fit. Ford should have made the Energi without the hump, then it would have been a better seller. Jus my 2c. :flirt: 64MPGs for today (45 odd miles), gotta luv that AND hauling her junklovey stuff back to the house. -
Consumer Reports Blasts Honda Accord Hybrid MPG Claim
Jus-A-CMax replied to 62Lincoln's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
:twister: I am jus waiting for someone to spout that our CMax is jus a more poorer MPG car than the Honda, bring on the stats. You jus wait and see... ;) -
Hey Matt, long time no post mate. Trust everything is going well for you since your crash (and mine too). Its been insane here lately Matt, the temps are up and just my daily drive to work, golf course and back is back to the ridiculous ole days. For a while I was struggling just to even get to the 60, now its been like 64 since my new tank - go figure. One strategy though, since I live up on the foothill, I now take a more direct route up the hill and versus trying to take a longer way to ramp up the MPG counter. My theory is that, I have to "pay back" for my trips down and along the valley, so I kept it short & sweet on the journey home. As well, by running a longer extended route that, even though it has less slope, it still has more traffic and lights - not condusive to a smooth run. And if I saved anything like going from the 47MPG (say on the up hill) and I may better that with a 55MPG run on the longer route - I still lose because I had burnt more gas to get my 55, when I could easily, easily MAX this gas more for the morning run... Funny enough, I hated this short route cause I thought it burnt too much but in hindsight after exploring the many routes, this one route was :airquote: thoughtfully optimal :airquote: with ideal traffic conditions (no pressure, can still build EV for my EV+ final run up to my garage)....the kind of stuff that takes us "journeymen" hypermilers time to learn "the trade". Also right now, I am only running the centre grill cover and the gas pods. I think the current configuration with the lower grill that I made, its actually bad aerodynamically since I see it like running with a big open bucket that traps the air and causing more resistence - so I prefer to just let it flow and not have the lower grill cover. I think what you did with your custom configuration is much, much better aerodynamically. Plus my last 2 long hauls with the full grill covers scared me with the engine overheat blipping on (I am sure you read those posts). Anyway, let me know how your car is going. I still enjoy the high MPGs of Maxine though, she's JUS A CHAMP. I am seeing more CMaxs on the road now (as much as the poor sale threads here seems to indicate our cars are going out of fashion), I so much want to wave to these owners and tell them what a great car they drive. Funny, that my Service Associate Frank@Galpin, his wife owns a CMax too and he swears she cannot get more than 36 MPG and here I am rocking up in my 60+ MPG Avg....lol. Hey, at $4.11 a gas at the moment here in Los Angeles (Costco), I am laughing at the huge MPGs I am getting...and Ford, you should be sued for short selling the City MPG ;) I heard you have a AWD Ti Fusion,no?

Lifetime 45 MPG (dash readout) after 11K miles
Jus-A-CMax replied to BIG ROCCO's topic in Fuel Mileage
That would be about right. I got 48 MPGs going from LA to Vegas but on the way back, I got snorkered with a 30+MPH head wind (thanks storm) and got that as well. The east ward trip is more condusive to gliding while the westward trip is more "pay back time b*tch" ;) -
Interesting that they say the Fusion is a larger car, since my wife and I last looked at it, there is no way in hell we could fit all our snowgear into a sedan. Last sedan was a 2007 Jaguar Vanden Plas and it doesn't get any bigger than that (and I had the extended Jag, not the normal one, built for the Queen or my Queen ;) ), and we had to use a Jaguar box on the roof. You can't tell me the Fusion is as big as the Jag but I am sure someone here will. C'mon. I should fire my virtual secretary or the mail man, I keep missing these memo :baby:

I got the phone app, but now I still say "wtf"...Its fun for me to rack it up when I feel like it but I don't need to advertise it or prove anything, anymore. Back then it was the wild west frontier - new car, lets see what we can do with it but now 30,000+ miles, I know what it can do and there are too many Doubting Thomas or people who loath their own cars for me to convince otherwise. I jus enjoy the car for what it is....and if I score big like my 104 route, I may drop something. One day I'll take you on this route but knowing that I have passengers, that will drop it by 10 MPGs due to the extra weight... ;)

Potential new owner...anyone with long commute?
Jus-A-CMax replied to Jason Triolo's topic in Welcome
I never had a bad buying experience at Galpin Motor Company. If anything, they treated my wife and I like royalty. Can't say enuf good things about them.... -
No, on the long downgrade, just let her roll. I just let it roll and it will build charge naturally. Remember, the CMax does charge by itself if you let it glide, no need for brakes. Adding brakes increase the charge. Just as in the morning, the ICE warms up & I also tap the brake a little as I come down the hill and pretty soon I am at 90% (I started with like 30%). If you recall, coming back from Vegas, there is a super long 10+ mile downgrade....just let the CMax ride at 70mph and she will roll sweetly. Let all the buffoons in their 4x4 trucks & SUV fang by. @$4+ a gallon, I am sure ALL of them made enough money from the tables to pay for their gas they are wasting hooning down this super long downgrade. By the way, this is the same grade that, going up, caused an overheat warning to come on using the full Grill Covers. Not a good idea, as I found out...

The C-Max Bar - The Best Place to Greet & Talk

Too busy youtubing the Gymkhana stuff to fix ole posts..... -
Did the same run from home to the gym and back and got 94.3 MPG there and still finished at 64MPG pulling into the garage. The difference is the timing of the lights were off and a couple of fools on the road that I needed to avoid so I had to add some spurts to keep ahead of 'em.
