catsailor - might I suggest you re-title this thread and make it "catsailor's gas pod reports" or something similar so we don't spawn a thread for every tank. Still waiting for the pics... Great to hear its going good for you :)

Its a great idea but I have issues with that "hump" in the back and it's NOT going to allow us to fit all our snow gear and snowboard and skis when we go to Mammoth. As my pictures prove, we load it to the roof. However, if I had an Energi to drive my 40-50 miles to and from work, I can probably kill all records for the range on 1 tank.... ;) ..and so could fotomoto, Matt and ptjones

21,000+ miles since Dec 2012. 6 days in the shop to fix the GPS module and the 13b07 and the 3.5.2 update - each time, Galpin Ford provided a rental for me in those days. Sure, this is the 4th car we bought from them (3 Jaguars and this CMax) and that is WHY we keep buying cars from them, they treat us well and they take care of us. And the next Jaguar replacement we will also buy from them...MKZ, XF...we dunno yet but we have some more miles to burn in the Vanden Plas Jaguar before then. Fit quality and finish of my Maxine who is an SEL is on par with the Jaguar. You would only notice if you sat side by side with the Jaguar having a plus leather seating and better quality leather that you touch...but all and all....for a non-high end car, the CMax fit & finish really is superb. I am BEYOND Happy with this car, build and most of all MPGs. I am rawking an average 63+ MPG total per day with the Gas Pods. BobJustBob, while I understand your frustration perhaps its time to consider a buy back. Right now, there are ton of very satisfied CMax owners and a handful of dead battery owners. Yes, Ford knows its a serious issue and lets hope they fix it permamently - and they acknowledge its an on-going issue and have been trying - just look at some of the reponses in the Dead Battery thread. Its not like they are ignoring it. Also, Ford is not going to be the 1st Car Company NOT to have any issues with a 1st Gen...a few days ago, I saw on the news Toyota having to do a 100,000+ recalls on the Camry and Avalon hybrids for guess what - an air bag issue. How long has air bags been around and the still can't get it right. Yes, its crap and sometimes we are dealt bad hands but thats why there are warranty and lemon laws - use them. In the meantime, perhaps you should consider pushing for a buy back/lemon law as this frustration will grow and grow and lets face it, you'll be p*ssed to hear or see others say good things about the CMax and it becomes a grudge against us. I speak direct. So to finish on a funny story, I got to drive a 2013 XF last night (Galpin's car loaner to my wife while her Vanden Plas is in service with them for 2 weeks). So the wife goes "Start the car honey". It's a push button start - like my SEL. So I did just that. Cool. The lights are on. I am ready to go. Press the pedal. Can't get it into gear. WTF? "Start the car honey!" Oh....its in Accessory mode. Drrrrh.....so press to turn it off, then I pressed HARD on the brakes and press and hold the START button till the engine ROARed on. Ssssh, the 2013 XF ain't no Stealth Bomber. LOL. Have a great weekend guys :)

Yes it does...try that over 840 miles...lol..hypermilers life ;)

I had this happen once. I just locked the car and walked away...and when I came back after shopping it was turned off by itself. This was before the 3.5.2 (pre 3.6 MFT) update and its very old. Had not had it since.... SEL Sony :flirt: fancy-schmancy....

foto...they don't look that bad. I was admiring them as I was walking back to Maxine tonight after the gym. I have the black ones, they fit the trim. Ok, what is this NACA...please explain...not all of us are engineers here. @catsailor. Any chance for photos, how far back are your Pods? Yep, its a tough crowd but I think Frank was jus telling us to be cautious...none of us, at least not me, are scientists and I don't he or anyone wants this thread to turn into the other Gas Pods threads on the other websites. Neither Adair nor I will tolerate any crap like what was thrown around there. At the end of the day, its whether you think and prove to yourself it will work or not.
-
foto...I think he did "blip" it and its negative split mode - remember, in this mode and the old "ICE HIGH MPG" mode, the gauge remained white.....the only way to tell its in this mode is when the instant MPG starts dancing high. From what I can tell, I did not pick up any EV used in the ENGAGE mode as the battery is still charging. McGyver may be onto something with the higher CVT...those with scangauge, if you have the fuel & time et al...lets play with it and confirm his findings independently. This would be great news, if true. I run the Tujunga in a couple of weeks and check that out. I can't run the 14 until November......earth to GaryM....earth to GaryM...please read this thread.... ;)
-
fotomoto - you got a scangauge, see if you can replicate McGyver's testing?
-
Excellent Macgyver...thanks YOU for all your valuable input.... One place for the 75 is the stretch from Lancaster to Mojave...thats 80mph no worries :) GaryM drives the 14 far more than me...I hope he reads this thread and can provide the slope degree.
-
CMax-Traveller - I am seeing same thing. Stellar but not galactic. I have been averaged, surprised and stellar-ed. One definite myth I think is busted is that the back end does still continue to "suck" dirt. I have mine setup 1" from the rear. Susanne, can you comment on the positioning as I have no feedback from ptjones, Mike or catsailor on the optimal placement of these Pods and does 1/2" (say I move it) make a diff?
-
I'll PM yer. See my update on the private thread. Gotta go to work.

Sound like you're driving more in the high 60s than 75mph. I was thinking @ 75mph, you're a candidate for a ticket especially on the 395, you can get away with it on mostly the freeways around LA, CHP is not that concerned but they are picky on the 395. Questions: So you don't "blip" the pedal to kick it out of full EV into the negative split mode? What was the optimal driving strategy/speed on the uphill thru to Tujunga. I got to deal with that and I know GaryM and I have to deal with the moutains on the 14 to Lancaster? Right now its keeping right and a 2 bar burn on the steep stuff. I found burning up at 65mph on those steep grade wasted a ton of gas for not much return in time (based on the driving up the Sherwin grade north of Bishop - same load, and temps). No Scangauge though, this is using the Trip to gauge the fuel used.

Oooops I guess I can't tell what I finished with today....man, I was hoping to make it interactive. Have some fun. Guess thats not going down well here in this thread.....oh well....adios then :flyaway:

Tomorrow I am going to the dealership for the 8th time
Jus-A-CMax replied to pjurek99's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
That's pure crap treatment from your surrounding dealers, no wonder you are frustrated. Your car, I assume, is still within the bumper to bumper warranty, correct? Rachel is right, you should be able to take it to any Ford dealer, its covered by Ford and not by the dealer so the dealer gets paid by Ford. I would not say anything where the car is from if I were you.,,,this sounds fishy for them to do that. -
Thanks MacGyver! What was the SOC at the time? I am guessing there is negative split mode in play here? Also, can someone confirm this - 59MPG@73.3 (75) mph? If thats proven, that is ASTOUNDING :)
-
Thanks Adair...I totally agree. Be nice people :)

Day 2. Same morning work drive, a little windier but temps not that low, in the mid 60s. Thought I had a good run in but ended up with 74.7MPG using 0.27 gas. 0.02....that's all the diff between an 80 MPG and a high 70s MPG. What's that to a non-CMax driver - that is a warm up cycle, or a couple of ICE burns on the road. Day has not ended, this is going to be a 50+ mile day. Told ya it was tough...

Woah, lets ease up DrEasel, ok. pjurek - "No shuttle service, no courtesy car, no respect. " That is solely your dealer, I am with Galpin Motor Company for the reason that they provide the best service here in the San Fernando valley. That's how they get repeat business from my family and we usually buy their high end Jaguars, this is our 1st Ford with Galpin. I don't think many car buyers consider the dealer service as part of the purchase criteria....and they ALWAYS get stung with similar comment as yours - not uncommon at all. In regard to "unsuccessful" repairs, I would be in the same boat as you if that was true. Again, I think it's your dealers fault...not all Ford dealers are up there in tech...as clearly shown by the 13b07 where wireless is a certain failure and a hard line ethernet - most dealers who do not deal with a lot of CMaxs learn this the hard way and unfortunately burn some customers due to their inexperience. Let us know how you go. Salsaguy had a link to "dealer rater", some search engine for car dealers with rating, might be an idea to see if you can find a better service dealer around you. My 2c.
