  1. There you go----great looking car with custom badging et al and great mileage to boot. Well done & congratz!
  2. Focus is really strong on the freeway but come surface street with start/stop traffic, it suffers like any other gas car. Be interested to see what you end up with. Mine got as high as 38/39 freeway and died down to 29/28 due to street.
  3. Exactly...even better if you make your good REALLY GOOD and then make the bad, the LEAST bad. Think like that, you'll go far. It's a game, not life or dead here and theres no prize being the 1st, 2nd or last, its what you make of it. Now go get better MPG with those gas pods and work on feathering your pedal :)
  4. 11StiLimited becomes the 24th Member of the 600+ Mile C-Max Club, way to go :happy feet: You guys are KILLING it, the expectation now is 30 members by the end of summer, at least :)
  5. armored - just get them to replace the gps. the 3.5.1 does not fix an errant GPS as I found out (thanks to ArizonEnergi) so I headed to Galpin and talked to them about it and got to as high as the Service Manager of Galpin Ford. Even after the replacement - they were hesitant, cautioning me not to be too optimistic but you know, its been working like a charm especially on the surface streets et al. I seriously think there was a bad batch of gps as theres no explanation for some people with 3.1.3 gps working perfectly while others like mine going on drugs.
  6. I was on a ludicrous 25,000 miles a year when I was at my other job as an appraiser. This new job, its about 50-60 miles a day depends if I go out to lunch, hit the gym or chiro after work....somewhat way less :) Lifetime Avg is 47.1 at the moment, I have a feeling this is going to go way up. Yeah, 600 a tank is GREAT. Also these miles are from work and play, so I think this would be natural for me unless I decide to change route and add in some freeways in the morning/evening but they're ALL stuck since LA is motor city.
  7. Post #1 updated with the 600 mile mark. Still hanging around the 63.2 and 63.7 Avg MPG but its now really, really hard to get the 0.1 to fluctuate too much either way. As ths rate, should hit the much vaunted 800 mile mark around Thursday. Whats slower than watching grass grow :headscratch:
  8. Welcome Barry...yeah, we have just the regular CMaxs. Our 600+ Mile CMax Club are for the regular C-Max hybrids only so we are stretching our mileage. Interesting that your EV is 60% and that is with the car's technology supporting you with the larger battery, EV later et al. For me, I have to manage my battery a lot since the regular C-Max battery pales incomparison to in the Energi but hey, I am getting about 78%-79% thus far of my miles as EV. Not doing too badly. Now, since you have an Energi - care to take a challenge? Not against anyone - just yourself. You are allowed one and only one charge after you filled your gas tank. Then see how long how you can max your mileage with that single tank with NO additional charging. I predict 620 miles with 1 original charge and 1 tank of gas to empty. I want to see how the larger battery is effecting the driving. Care to take this up?
  9. Done! :happy feet: Congratulations to our long time member of this forum, C-MaxSeattle aka Nick, joins the 600+ Mile CMax Club as your 23rd member
  10. Not sure whats going on here but when you run out of gas, it say something like "Safety reason please shut down immediately" yellow warning show up on the left gauge. I had 2 of those warning. I do not recall seeing the MFT going blank. 13.0 gallons used is the absolute limit. ptjones recommended 12.75 - but I suspect, this is also dependent on whether you top off or not as the last time I ran out of gas I did not (out of gas like 13.06) and other times did I top off to 0.25c and went as far as 13.15 or thereabouts. That difference is worth 2 to 3 miles surface driving. Thats why I recommend you carry spare gas, jus in case. 12.56 to run out of gas is LOW though. :headscratch:
  11. They did, plug it in and the other physical measurements, tire pressure as well. Its cool, we(I) wanted them to have it anyway. We know know, at the bare minimum, the engineering mode the CMax has and thats got some telling stats (if I recall correctly). It was cool and there was a lot of questions asking what did you think about and I gave them a lot of my suggestions and opinion.
  12. The regular CMax is rated 571 accoridng to FB. I am still waiting for someone to take one Energi and see how far it really does in a real world environment...now you would think our brothers in the Energi forum would have some sort of non-recharge challenge to check it out...but I am guessing that defeats the whole purpose of the Energi in the 1st place - to plug it in. Thanks for the links salsaguy, great read.
  13. mtb - same EXACT route? AC would have factored in?
  14. Welcome to the website 2lazydogs :) Maintenance - 5000 miles to rotate your tires (optional - up to you) and oil change at 10,000 mandatory. Thats it. I presume any filters will change at 10,000 as well when Ford does it (my Galpin also rotates the tires on every service automaticially...yah!). You also have no brake dust..none that I have seen in my 16,000+ miles. Amazing car, don't miss out but do read up on it.
  15. No mtb, I have my mp3s on my thumbdrive. I can stream using DoubleTwist, no issues there.
  16. Damn, how did I get a mention in this thread? Guilty of dumb wastage :spend: for using premium gas when OBVIOUSLY these reputable websites know far, far more than me, my car and driving. Yep, guilty as charged...I'll just go back to driving to my lil premium filling world and continue my route with 600+ miles tank, fill up on Premium, 600+ tank, fill up on Premium, 700+ tank, fill up on Premium, 800+ tank fill up on Premium....yeah, whadda I know... :redcard: Jokes aside, I suggest all of you do you own testing and come to your own conclusion. I for one am not pushing anyone to use Premium - if you believe and feel its wasteful, go ahead and stop, or don't use it. Its a free country, as far as I know today.
  17. I am inclining to agree with you. They can do this as unlike MFT, we have no way of finding the versioning of the engine software unless someone here haxor the chips/roms. I wish they would release it but can't expect them to...however, those poor MPGs reports in the last quarter of 2012 would certainly have add tremendous pressure, forced them to re-evaluate their algorithms and take a hard look at it. Don't forget Ford Motor Company, thru their RDA Group agents, organized the CMax Irvine Pow-Wow in Feb 2013 where they would have downloaded a whole bunch of data from all the CMaxs including mine and also did test drives with the owners...everyone except me as I was too busy talking/yapping with all their departments/engineers and completely missed it. By the way, at that time, I was very proud to show them the 600 mile tank at that time...everyone was blown away. Yah! A thought....Hey scangauge guys - anything you might see?
  18. Spot on there Matt, great tips - EVERYONE if you don't pick up on this and print it out and stick it on your CMax, you're missing out BIG TIME. Its what I do and the 1 variation is that for me, the 55mph is the border to switching to the freeway/highway battery management that Matt mention in #1. I'll also throw in there that how you "feather" and control the EV power is SUPER critical - have to find the spot where the speed can be sustain for the LEAST EV and you have to think about when you want to regen and match it to the terrain ---- see how terrain selection is ubber critical? For now, on my legs, I seem to float between 63.2 and 63.7 Avg MPG, peaked at 64 once but that is very, very, very, VERY..did I type "very" enough?...HARD to maintain. For me, to get 55MPG on the Trip Summary feels like a 40MPG. I know its a perception thing and you guys are ripping me for thinking like that, since everyone here will die for a 55MPG sustained over 20+ miles - but hey, this is a journey and I'll lay out what I am thinking when all day I am seeing the 63+. I did one leg over 4 miles that was 40.4MPG but that had 3.3 EV but my gas was like 0.1 and that was painful but do realize that the leg was up hill almost all the way, my nemesis route. I won't blame the Costco shopping either or the watermelon weight for the poor MPG but it is what it is... You got it spot on as well salsaguy. Dude, you'll be deadly when you finally get your ...umh...wife's CMax... Could be true but as an overall scheme of things, controlling whatand when you squirt the gas makes WAY more difference than the weight of gas.
  19. Done, dup hidden. If people base their car/product buying solely on JD report, they need to live in a bubble wrap world. Plus whos to say that there is no lemon just cause the company/car is top #5. No guarantee whatsoever. 2014 sounds like no change but yeah, I too suspect the software will be different, there is no way that these new cars are getting such great mileage at such an early age and given my car is SoCal where the temps have been much warmer and constant (you know this), I am insulated from the cold weather debacle and there was NO WAY in hell I was seeing those numbers with my Oct2012 built CMax and doing 600 mile tanks with the 1st or 2nd tank. No freaking way. Nonetheless, thats good news for the new car owners...and I am still lucky to get the MPGs I am getting, more thru driving skill/breakin than relying on software.
  20. Whoops...didn't realize that, thanks for sharing, will say a prayer for you & family. For a while there I thought you were ready to buy when you were discussing costco/aaa pricing. No worries and all the best, she'll find one. If a moron like me can find one , your wife definitely can.. ;)
  21. mtb - please copy your post to your other Gas Pod thread. We don't need multiple threads for the same discussion. Thread is locked and closed, thanks mate.
  22. Violent is right...I don't think they have any mods there to mod that forum - brutal in their attack for the 2 posters who posted up a review. Really want to make others like me join, not. PS I think they can be fabricated easily, just gotta figure out how (for me). Should be easy for someone like yourself Matt.
  23. don't remind me...if you have been following my threads...its so true, this is like slower than watching grass grow, mate. Matt is much faster than me cause his job takes him everywhere and what he can get done in 1 super tank, takes me like 1 1/2 week more because I drive to work & back and to the golf course on the weekend. Much slower. Orphoto is somewhere like Matt. He may sneak in an 800 or high 700 as well, hes understatedly good.
  24. salsaguy...dude you're overdue for your CMax, get moving. 425 posts for a dude who still to press "Start"...lol ;) The only way to get 30MPG is to drive up hill for 5 miles when the temps is like 30F and use ICE all the way and zero EV. Like going from Mammoth Town to Mammoth Main Lodge. I know, I got that MPG before and if its tough for me, it worse for others (think I posted that somewhere, may be in one of mtb's treads). IMO, those lawsuit people are idiots who don't deserve a CMax. The Prii is perfect for them, cause these people are CLUELESS as to what to do with the power. They need to press a button for permission to use power :hysterical: Like giving a tea-tottler a beer when they can't handle alcohol. Ugh.
  25. It depends on what you want to do with the ICE. Here's the deal, the Atkinson is best under heavy load so you want instant power - punch the engine to 3 bars and you get to your speed that you want for wee gas and you glide down. If you want to regen cause your batts are low, keep it at 2 bars (or maybe 1 pixel above). I have used both methods depending on my SOC and also road/traffic. Its all about managing your drive. I clearly need to re-write my review when I am done with my tank. My thought is that freeway (> 50%) its a different strategy cause your batts gets used far quicker than surface street driving where your batts can last far longer. So its a battery management issue. Also, unlike the old adage of hypermilers - don't use EV or forgetaboutit, I truly believe the CMax larger battery and higher EV has totally killed that way of thinking as the old way of thinking mught be applicable to the Prii due to is lower EV threshold and batts, but hey we're flying a Corsair now, not a wooden Zero (so to speak...but I like Stealth Bomber reference better).
