  1. They replaced my GPS unit. So far - its been FREAKING GREAT :happy feet: yeah :happy feet: yeah :happy feet: Ah...I see you got a biplane like I did, good. Don't forget the goggles and a hanky to wipe off the spluttering oil from the engine :sing_rain:
  2. Good stuff Riddley - feel free to borrow any pics as you or others need :)
  3. Lol, u always have a great sense of humor, wing  ok...time to retank and keep the holding pattern :salute:
  4. I have sad, sad, sad news for you. For someone whos about to hit the 15,000...it's truly sad.... . . . . it only gets better....ssh...don't yell just incase Consumer Reports sees this and goes ballistics. Enjoy...sshhh...quiet now.
  5. Thanks Nick, it was a pleasure to write for all the members of this forum :) Oh...you are LUCKY! There something about Italian food in Italy...some of the best pastas, olive oil and fish, poultry - they have FLAVOR! My wife and I want to go back there one day to go drink, ski and eat. Also, sounds like you know what exactly what I mean when I call these gas engine cars "biplanes" now ;) Enjoy your stealth fighter and WELCOME BACK!
  6. Does that loop like mipmapped's? I've seen those things when people ski/snowboard...suppose to be brilliant quality. mipmapped - good stuff...this looks like its a good solution for what I need,
  7. salsaguy, the only SLR I have is an EOS-1....nah...all my shots were taken with my work camera is the teenie-weenie S100 with a built in 24mm cause I need it to shoot those "great rooms" in the houses. No polarizer. The only editing I do is to resize to 1600 res and adjust the levels in photochop. The sky is as is. The nightshot was done using the S100 night mode, takes 5 quicks shots and gels 'em together. Its really good for these low light - brilliant mode from Canon.
  8. You have a dashcam? I am interested in getting one of those too. This is a crazy city to live in. Do tell.... :)
  9. Luck! Yippie will be more than fine. Enjoy the trip, take some photos and post'em up here :)
  10. This was taken on our last trip to Mammoth. Sadly the snow is going brown so its the last one where we lug our skis and snowboard - but - back to the photo. I noticed this as I was on the 395. I knew there was a storm over Lone Pine and we were still short of it and this spectacular sunset came into being....oh, for the locals, this was about 10 miles north of Fossil exit. This photo remind me of the scene out of the 10 Commandments with Charlton Heston when he's a shepard and he looks up and theres fire and dark cloud on Mount Sinai where the Almight resides...heys this is real life. This was taken when we were at Mammoth, casually walking back after celebrating at the Chart House...I luved the skies and the crescent moon. No snow though but it reminded me of a Kondakova painting... This is for those who have not been to Mammoth before. That's good ole Woolly and thats the Yodler Bar & Restaurant. In the peak of winter, this would have been all snow white... Enjoy :) Edit for Kondakova.
  11. Yes ma'am RachelinLA.... 14690 miles and NO battery report. Where is KBF, why isn't he touting this thread?!?!?!?! :stirpot:
  12. Yes, it happpens to me too...lets call ths...IdiotSYNCrocies ;) AMSDPS - great suggestion, I'll check mine too.
  13. UPDATE: The HeatShield is fine, the edges that were curling just needed to be "tucked" in and its a PERFECT fit with the large window. Did I say LARGE? It's friggin huge, like putting a tent up ;)
  14. I prefer gas, it saves driving backwards
  15. Cassidy, are you able to tuck that one between the seat and either the passenger door or the center consolde? Or too big? The bulk of the material (4" diameter) of my heatshield means its more likely to be tossed in the backseat which can be a pain in the back to grab each time. Otherwise it will toss around on the front passenger seat.
  16. Its starting to get seriously hot here and its time to invest in a sun shade for my CMax. Hell, its a big window but I thought, its not THAT big so I had some nice large Costco sunshades and tried it - shocked to see that it came nowhere close to getting a proper fit. So my wife went out and bought the largest size one from Costco. Great, this will work. Not. Yep, the front windscreen in a CMax is BIG! I know someone was recommenind an IntroTech $59.95 sun shade, that was too rich for me. Shopping around, I found this Amazon HeatShield for 2013 CMax for $33.95 So it arrived today in a nice long brown box. Initially, I thought - great, my wifey loves me and I have a new golf club....but no, it's just the HeatShield sunshade. It was very well wrapped and sealed in a clear plastic bag. Fairly light but definitely bulkier than any other sunshade I owned. It came all rolled up and its not folded unlike some other sunshade. Measurement is: 3'1" length and has a 4" diameter with a velcro wrap. The HeatShield material feels interesting - it does not feel cheap, pretty thick with the metallic foil material and the backing foam support which explains the 4" diameter. This is the interior shots of the HeatShield inside my CMax. Comes with a nice big YELLOW label to warn us not-too-clever drivers like moi about as to how to use it. Hell, I almost expect another warning "Be careful not to spill hot McDonald coffee" on it :stirpot: Now the fit of the HeatShield is pretty nice in the middle. Tuck the HeatShield behind the rear vision mirro, drop the sunvisors and its rock solid fit: This is what it looks like from the outside. It is a perfect fit with no curl edges: So where do you put this HeatShield? 2 places: It is big, has some curl in the end but its brand new so I'll see. Will update this thread to see how cool it will be with my black interior Maxine in the SoCal sun :runaway: :)
  17. I'll see what I can do...I use to do them in CS9 Photochop a long, long time in a galaxy far, far away when I was another post whore way back then. I thought the newer people would be more quicker and efficient than self...great job Thunderbird, I commend you on your enthusiasm
  18. Snap a pic next time, luv to see it! Yeah, I wish for the same as well. I know Oxnard is out there in Oxnard so I might come across him....now that I have a "marked" car, he can snipe me.... ;)
  19. I think I am going with the app option as well. I have one of those removable phone holders and use that. Great ideas from everyone. Seriously...thats what the forum is all about :)
  20. Thanks Thunderbird, its very much appreciated  As for suggestions - I'll throw this out - can you do an animated gif icon? How about a the blue cmax and the an animated a "600+ Miles" and then "CMax Club". Its more work I know...
  21. Post #1 is updated with the new members. Thank goodness we had 2 today as now we have our 14th member. Phew..miss the 13th announcement  What I :wub2: about having so many 600 Mile CMaxmembers is that this TOTAL DESTROYS and make the CMax doubters pound sand. I am not sorry to harp on this point as back when it was ptjones and I, everyone was doubting the both of us (well u drive with grill covers or u take too many surface streets, your time makes you average at XX mph and every single excuse was found to doubt the range of the CMax) and then this flood of new members proves that we were both right about the CMax being a long range car. Onward we march... :happy feet:
  22. Same here in Los Angeles, hybrid capital of US of A. I rarely see an Electic Focus but I do see more and more Volts around here, hard to miss, kinda looks like a flattend out frog (sorry RachelinLA). I am starting to see a lot of Teslas around here too, hard to miss those as well...good looking cars for sure, too $$$ for me and that price, I can get a brand spanking new Jaguar :)
  23. I've been playing with a "punch & glide". I know I started a thread on this sometime back to tackle the short, steep grades and save gas but thus far I am liking of blowing the slow and go and maxing up to speed asap - this leaves a lot of momentum in the car for an extra long pulse. Great for the 35 or 45 mph surface streets. CON is that it drains the battery some what - due to the extra punch initiates battery power (when batts are > 50%) which is good as it's not all ICE. However, sometimes I initiate a slow shortish burn in there as well to start some recharge as the glide does not always provide enough additional charging. I know I sent you a PM on this mtb but not sure if you checked it.
  24. I can't speak for others but make it a weekend in September - it may work. I am almost a regular at Mammoth, been going there for years and years. Plenty of places to stay there as well. It is really a gorgeous drive from Los Angeles to Mammoth but slog to the MPG given the elevation change from 800ft to 7,800ft - I would like to see how Ron, or Gen or people from SoCal would do this drive in especially climbing Sherwin grade. Yeah, there you go. A weekend will work for me and wifey but let us know ahead of time. As I said, we travel there all the time so we'll leave Friday evening, get there around midnight and head back on Sunday afternoon. Rockshox - yeah, they use to make the suspensions for mountain bikes. I've been to Kirkwood too, great place to snowboard especially one run which is like a funnel, can't remember the name, such a long time ago. My suggestion - plan a date ASAP so we can all book it for a weekend. Once this is done, then the FUN & Games begin. Don't know if anyone golfs here but Bishop is a ton of fun. Sierra (mammoth is TOUGH) though or we can drink beer all weekend...works for me. Oh there is an airport at Mammoth as well so anyone else can FLY IN , afterall, our CMaxs make great taxis with the room and all ;)
  25. Can you take some angle pics of the front & side, like to see how this looks, if you don't mind. Also, we all appreciate you putting it all on this thread and on this forum. Definitely good stuff
