  1. Welcome homestead! Congratulations on your new CMax - lots of owner/drivers here with a ton of information....so enjoy the website and I would also encourage you to also look at: Welcome to the website - some helpful videos for you and your new car :)
  2. Radio Hula The subtleness and softness of the slack key, with a beautiful hula dancer dancing to this...or just play this when you are cruising the beach in your Max in EV and enjoying the sea breeze. In fact, this album is what I play when I do the beach properties...Hawaiian Slack Key Guitat Masters Vol. 2 http://www.myspace.com/variousartists-46102803/music/albums/hawaiian-slack-key-guitar-masters-vol-2-14546502 Enjoy :)
  3. There are more who are close but they are not on this website but are in fuelly, we're talking higer 500s. I know, I saw your worse which I question why this woman was reporting the 32s. Also, how you look at the MPG may skew it up or down. I think the concensus here is that return round trip MPGs have more credibility as versus MPGs by the leg. So, it could well be the woman does one leg going up hill and in the cold, they hook up scangauge and say "Hey look....32!!!! That's our proof" but they neglect that this same woman may drive back down the hill and get the 40s and perhaps average low 40s/high 30s which in the cold is not bad as you will atest. I am sure the Ford attorneys can rip any of their argument apart since its multi million dollar suit but the strategy of the suit is to force Ford to settle the case instead and therefore payout to the attorneys...$$$ Now if it's a well informed driver with a broken car and Ford refuses to take a look at that car, thats a different story....
  4. 'bout time. Any more posts from you on this forum without you actually owning one would mean spending some cell time in Jus-Another-Mod cell for impersonating a Maxer...lol. Now go enjoy the car and stop posting mate till you get the thrill out of your pants....
  5. It was, a CA case but that was Honda completelly d*cking around with her and her car and she got fed up. Hondas are notorious, the joke among appaisers here is that these hybrid can't climb any real grades, avoid like a plague. However, I think her case got overturned and not sure where it went. It was small claims and < $10,000.
  6. ArizonEnergi - wow, brilliant minds think alike - I just scheduled mine for Monday as well. Turns out Galpin has 2 CMaxs with the same exact issue and it has the attention of the manager in charge of the Ford Service Advisors, are on it...kudos to Galpin Ford and I hope they find something in the GPS module itself. I seem to have the same symptoms after the TSB as reported earlier as well - a part time fix.
  7. Now that's a prespective I have not heard before....nice one :)
  8. You should also measure what you fill up against what it recorded to gather a sense of the difference...yes, I know it will vay pump to pump but some sense abliet its not 100% accurate, is better than zero sense at all. catsailor, thats ballsy man
  9. As I said in the earlier thread, some people prefer suing rather than understanding their car. This is the same type of person that would sue McDees for spilling hot coffee on themselves, same morons. However, I would put on record that if Ford needs to use my stats and figures to fight these silly suits, lets go for it. It's on fuelly and on this website. I have no problem advocating for them because without them, I would be driving a Prii and bemoaning that instead :)
  10. If you take the left side down arrow and navigate until you see "Vehicle Range" and it will show you "X miles to E". Good for the yellow and red status. What I did find is that the "miles to E" is based on your "recent" driving history, I think the histogram statistics. I have had "0 miles to E" to suddenly show "35 miles to E" and thats because I was climbing and when I peaked, my MPG history skyrocketed. Now,as to how many more miles you can squeeze out of the tank past "0 miles to E"...about 15-25 miles, but my advice is not to rely on this. You should use the Trip 1 or Trip 2, whichever you use to track the miles per tank. for the "gallons used". For safety, don't go past 12.50 gallons unless you know your vehicle. Hope this helps :)
  11. Nice read, thanks for the laughs :) Hey, hows your MPG doing, did anything help?
  12. Excellent update John, thanks. Out of curiosity, how do you handle the freeways - normal, P&G, eco-cruise, or ICE High MPG? The sad news is that....you'll get BETTER MPG as your engine breaks-in...sad for those CMax knockers I should have said ;)
  13. Yep. Plus, these CMaxs are new, engine still not broken-in yet and the cold, so 2 bad = poor MPG. Contrast this with those of us in the warmer temps and/or doing lots of miles (recumpence), our MPGs are up there. So you're right, with summer coming (and more miles for the break-in) + temps = better MPG. Having said that, unfortunately, there are some who will not get even close, and these could be driver or car related. 39-41? I thought the almighty Prii was all 50+ MPGs, after all, they're suppose to be more aerodynamic, have smaller more FE wheels, less power, lighter curb weight, smaller tank etc etc etc etc..... Its easier to sue than to understand your car or driving habits - mind you, as Rachel proved, even driving "normal" still gets you pretty good MPG above 40. We are a very knowledgeable lot over here and we all share our experiences and findings to improve our FE so we have the power of a CMax community vs the single driver who has no idea and calls the lawyer, or the one who SPAM his displeasure across the Internet in an "open letter to Ford".
  14. LOL, Yippie's mom should be a standup comedian....thanks for the laughs :hysterical:
  15. Mine is the opposite. Less MPG at the top quarter and then piling on the MPGs at 1/2 or less tank. Who knows...
  16. see what a little confidence in breaking a threshold does to the mindset. Also, thats what I was saying in my Mammoth post where I documented the "Mammoth to Home" graph (the most consistent temperatures and conditions) and there is a consistent rise in MPG improvement as the engine breaks-in over this long span of time. Starts at 3,000 odo and get better and better and levels out at about 10,000 or 11,000 miles.
  17. Catmobile, with those stats, you should be clocking it up. However, I don't think the intention is to run out of gas on purpose here and after 7 tanks with 600+ miles each, with my Maxine, she will comfortably do up to 615 miles with spare gas left in the tank. However, sometimes this gets "stretched" to the limits when ptjones (who actually is the only CMaxer to run out of gas) and I push the limits, my "Nutz" for example, but don't try that at home (as they say on TV ;) ). And I carry spare gas anyway just because I may get a last minute call to drive additional miles and away from the Costco stations, our preferred place to tank up. As I always said, its not for everyone but next time if you do, whip out your camera phone... :)
  18. Here we go again. Dang...I think someone hates me...thats twice now I did not get this memo that the CMax is a 38.5 MPG car and the fact they scangauged it and all - what credibility!!!!!!!! Must stop photoshoping the Trip pictures, must stop photoshoping the Trip pictures.... :runaway:
  19. Funny bout that, I always wanted an STi, or an Evo but circumstances never worked out. I really luved the 97 with the blue and gold rims, long time ago. Gas was cheap then, even in Aus. So it's helluva change to jump from 11STi to a much slower utility CMax, the hoon phase is out of yer... unless u have a bike stashed in her garage ;)
  20. If you're gonna add that, Ford needs to change the timer to make more sense - timer should only run when car is moving by EV or ICE. Right now, that timer starts ticking as soon as you start the engine regardless of whether you are standing still or moving. You can sit in the car for 15 mins and not turn off the engine but the timer would add it to the clock on Trip 1 or 2...which leads to silly conclusions about your Avg speed. I know a certain poster tried to pull that crap on me using the time to derive an average speed even when I said, I don't switch off my engine while I wait for my client to arrive.
  21. Lol, you are too funny. I think thats the best course...Yippie, here she comes :)
  22. I know...back at you...hence the ;) It was a natural question. The idea is to take it to the brink but this is not for everyone. I think ptjones and I have figured out where the threshold is and its not like we want to run out deliberately, plus its too inconvenient. Enjoy the thread the forum
  23. Thanks Joe - I am about to take my CMax in to have the GPS looked at by Galpin. The 3.5.1 is due really soon but I still want them to check out the GPS unit as you advised. Thanks for the heads up and update - much appreciated
  24. Actually, I would not be the first but thanks for the well wishes ;) ptjones was the 1st CMaxer to run it all the way out. This is his thread: I RAN OUT OF GAS - 13.86 gallons There was no issues when he did ran out of gas. He EVed over to the side, turn off the car, refilled with his spare and away he went. Unfortunately, at those fuel level, 1 to 7 miles makes a huge difference, as does each hill/grade to climb and each glide distance, timing the lights and really feathering the ICE when its on. 750 would be doubtful, 700 may be when the conditions are right, 650 more of a possibility and 600 FOR SURE and with gas to spare. :)
