  1. Thanks Doug! I wanted to go with a factual approach, rather than go off on them. I'm not good at demanding. Zhack, one guy said *so I guess we're replacing the ACM.* another one said *No, engineering wants us to try XYZ first.* The problem with that approach is they have to wait until it locks up to try X, and if that doesn't fix it, wait again to try Y......rinse and repeat...With the temps we are having now....45 this morning with highs in the 70s, they could keep it another week and nothing will happen. Thanks for your comments Plus 3. Yes the original email was sent to Alan Mulally, and 2 days later a woman from his office called me and conferenced in the SM at my dealership. That's what got the ball rolling. She gave me her phone # and told me to call her, which I plan to do this morning. I'm in the process of putting together a timeline of the events since the beginning. Thanks SDM......it didn't occur to me that my letter wouldn't go to the same person. I knew Mulally would never see it, but I foolishly assumed it would make it to the desk of the same woman who called me after the first email. I will call her this morning and get her email address to send directly to her. If it becomes necessary to write again, I will follow yours and Plus 3's suggestions and lay it all out from the beginning, as tho talking to an 8 y/o. The timeline I'm putting together should help with that. My problem is being forceful.....when I try I come off as wimpy. Jerry says I'm being much too nice to them. I guess it's my Southern upbringing taking the lead so far... Thanks Jus! My momma told me the same thing. I was trying to be the *factual squeeky wheel* without whining. I do have a spine, when pushed too far, but I'm trying to resolve things before that side of my personality rears its head. Darreld..........what a great idea!!! If I get my car back and this issue is unresolved, I will do exactly that! I love it!!!
  2. Here is the email I sent tonight. I am losing my sense of humor over this. Please tell me if you think I am over reacting.....I appreciate all of your input. Dear Mr. Mulally, You can see that the original email was sent on May 13, 2013. It is now July 24, 2013. Please see the RED section of the original email below. My car has been at Briarwood Ford at least 3 times for this issue. I have taken it to the dealership with the car in this LOCKED state 4 times. Unfortunately it has always been late in the day when there were no engineers to evaluate the problem. At one time I left the car with the dealership for 11 days. Unfortunately the temperatures did not cooperate, and it did not LOCK up. On the next visit, Briarwood replaced the APIM and 2 days later SYNC locked up again. My husband and I took a 2 day road trip. We left in the early morning both going and returning and had no issues. However, 20 minutes after arriving at hour home after the return trip, SYNC was locked and stayed that way for 20 hours. Briarwood opened another case with engineering. I sent daily emails to several individuals at Briarwood to document the problem. I didn't leave work every day at lunch, but when I did, SYNC didn't work. In all cases, it didn't work in the afternoons. In NO case it SYNC fail in the mornings...........only on HOT days..... after lunch or later. I am part of a forum of C-MAX owners...and so far 3 other people (out of over 1,000) have reported the same problem. The most recent *seems* to have had it resolved by having the ACM replaced. I'm trying to find out more information on that. My car has been back at the dealership since Monday. Temps in MI dropped on Tuesday, so there have been no issues. I don't know how long they plan to keep my car. I want to go on record as saying that I love my car. I'm getting great gas mileage, and I love everything else about it...............EXCEPT THIS SYNC issue. I can't use my phone. I can't listen to the radio/cd/Sirius. The Sirius subscription I just renewed is worthless. The 911 emergency assist is worthless, because I can't SYNC my phone to the car..... Please tell me what to try next.......
  3. Hi Samszr2,I'm going to send you a message and post this on the forum too, in hopes to hear if your latest ACM replacement solved your SYNC issue. Mine is at the dealership again. They are waiting for it to happen while in their possession so they can try some things engineering wants them to try. Temperatures are not cooperating here today.....didn't get out of the 70s. I'd like to be able to report that replacement of the ACM did the trick for your car...........if it did. Hope to hear from you. Adair
  4. Thanks Jus! This should be required reading for the SALESMEN at Ford dealerships! They have no clue on how to tell new drivers to drive their cars. One of Asia's running buddies picked up her new loaded SEL C-MAX last week and the idiot salesman told her there was no way she would get over 37mpg!!! Can you believe that? I told her maybe it was a challenge......for her to prove him wrong. I have given her the forum link and expect her to drop in sometime soon.
  5. Way to go Charles!!! (Funny, your screen name popped into my head on the way home tonite, for no reason at all...........and here you are with a fantastic report!!) ****playing the Twilight Zone theme in my head*****
  6. Oh yeah! I'm sure that would get me past the guards.
  7. I haven't found the light stone to require any unusual maintenance.
  8. Hi, and Welcome Altazi! I say order exactly what you want! You'll be spending a lot of time in the car, and have it for a few years anyway, build it the way you want it and get the light stone. It's worth the wait!
  9. Honey, if I thought they would let me on the lot, I'd drive out there tomorrow!!!
  10. When I took my car in for the (SYNC problem) today, I asked about the update. One of the SAs said * I talked to another owner today and told them ....why be a guinea pig? If you're happy with your MPGs, let someone else go first.* Nuff said for me.
  11. So I dropped my car off at the dealership today. It was in it's Frozen SYNC state, but of course it was too late to hook it up so the engineers could see what's going on. They will try to replicate the problem tomorrow, if the weather cooperates. I took a print out of this thread in the forum, plus the Post # 1 of the 600 mile club. The service manager commented on how many *leaves* I had on my display, and my 45.6 mpg on this tank. I told him the only thing keeping my car from being 100% was this SYNC issue. They said I am the only car at this dealership with this problem. At least I know now that there are 3 others with the same issue. I would love to know what the common denominator is. I drove away in a little Silver Bullet Focus.
  12. Top 'o' the heap SnowStorm!!! Way to go!!!
  13. Wish I could drive over there and check for y'all!!! :shift: I'd take pix, and all!! :camera: But I doubt they would let me in. :rant2:
  14. Just my continuing *SYNC locks up completely on hot afternoons* issue....the same one that's been going on since mid-April. APIM replacement didn't fix it, and with temps in the 90s, it happens every day now, lunch and on the way home. No radio, cd, voice navigation, nuttin' honey!!
  15. My dealership just called. They want me to drop the car off after work today and will have a loaner for me to drive. But the temps have cooled, and it's cloudy, so the likelihood of anything happening drops significantly. Plus, it fo' sho' won't do it if the car is indoors. But hey, they are trying, right? Maybe when they get into the gust of the media center there will be some lack of insulation (thanks Laurel!) or frayed wire, or something. Thanks for all your support thru this, guys! My family and co-workers are sick of hearing about it :sos: (I know, you probably are too, but just too nice to say anything.) :rating:
  16. Hi Rums54, Do you know what work was done to correct this problem? It sounds a lot like a problem I've had since mid-April, on hot afternoons only. I would appreciate any info you can share... Adair
  17. My car recognizes the dealership as worthy of EV+ designation......which tells you how many times I've been there...... :gaah:
  18. If that's the case, then I misunderstood. This was not a fill up....This was 519 miles......I was driving and couldn't get exactly the 500 picture. Jus, if it's supposed to be by fill up, I'll take my name off.
  19. Locked to channel the conversation to a common thread...........that way we're all on the same page, so to speak.
  20. Here is the latest from my dealership, in response to my daily updates this week about the daily problem..... :airquote: It looks like they want us to unhook the media center and other pieces one at a time and try and isolate the problem. Some reports are saying that the media hub where all the stuff plugs in is the culprit. :airquote:
  21. Whoa Nellie!!! Is this the :airquote: *update to improve fuel effeciency* :airquote: that we've been hearing about about this week, or something else entirely? And it addresses *freezes*!! And they've known about this since when??? :waiting:
  22. Thanks SDM! Yeah, me too! We've got at least 2.5 more months of hot weather left (thank goodness!) and I'd like to be able to listen to the radio or a cd on my way home from work. Plus, I just renewed my Sirius subscription after the APIM was replaced, thinking that would fix the problem. Wonder if they will put it on hold for me til this problem is resolved. I REFUSE to wish for cold weather just to make this go away, so don't even suggest it Jus!
  23. Oh, I'm sure someone will smash that number, but it gets the ball rolling, and the timing was right, :waiting: so thanks JUS!! Fun new challenge with our cars! :skateboard:
  24. 519 by JellyBean439, on Flickr Will this work?
  25. Oh, I absolutely know it's heat related. On the few cool, cloudy, rainy days a couple of weeks ago, everything was fine. But as soon as it became sunny and the temps were above 75, no SYNC in the afternoon. I just forwarded Samszr2's post to my SA. He's been discussing the problem with Ford engineers, and he wants me to bring my car in AGAIN next week for them to try some things. I hope we hear back from Sam that this fix.....fixed his problem!!!
