Frozen system and clueless service departments
Adair replied to lkaldridge's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Samszr2, thank you so much for posting this!! Mine had the APIM replaced 2 weeks ago and within 2 days it had failed again. I unpaired my phone and it still failed. I reported back to my dealership, each day for the past week that it has failed. On Wednesday they asked me to take the NAV card out. Did that on Thursday morning and at lunch it failed at 3 different starts. They are at a loss for what to try next. I copied your post and sent it to 3 SAs at the dealership, plus my salesman. Maybe this will lead them to something else to try. Please report back after a few days of your car baking in the sun! Thanks again! -
2 questions.......is there a *minimum* mpg that will be considered? And can it be the current tank, one that will end in 100 miles or so?
-
Sounds like a wonderful trip!! Would love to see pix of the whales! An old running friend of Asia's just moved to (Washington State or Oregon?) and posted some pix of a pod of Orcas! It's like wonderland!!
-
Have you gotten the 3.5.1 upgrade yet? A lot of folks are reporting improved MPGs after that. Since yours was built prob. in November, it would not have come with the 3.5.1. Oh, and Welcome, by the way!!! Hope you can find some info here on the forum to help. There are a lot of owners here, just like you.
-
She can't answer right now, so I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that the dealership probably did the 3.5.1 upgrade at the same time as the hatch fix. That's the way it went with most of the rest of us.
-
WOW! You could see the whole route? That's awesome Laurel!!! We've only gone on 2 trips that required (not really) navigation, and it was point-to-point! Everywhere else we drive, we've been before (boring? maybe!) I don't blame you. You've had wonderful luck with Tip, and I'm so happy for you! I would not be inclined to jump off the 3.5.1 cliff just yet either.

I'm kinda with you guys on this. I'm getting 45.6 on this tank of gas. If you take away my SYNC issue, I could not be happier with my car, the mileage, the ride.....I'm not inclined to tamper with that until someone else tries it first....preferably someone who already has 3.5.1 but is not getting the better mileage yet. I know it's summer and all, and maybe I'll change my tune when it gets colder again, but for now I'm content to sit this one out for a while.

Laurel, The Ice Storm was my second choice. While waiting for mine to be built I almst caved several times! I found Ice Storms at other dealers with all my *wants* on them and almost had my salesman ask for a swap. But everyone talked me into waiting for *my car*. I'm glad I did, but I think I would be just as happy with the Ice Storm too. I'm not a *red* person, and after coming off of 11 years with a silver car I didn't want another neutral color ***No offense to the neutral color owners out there!!*** :worship:

WOW! Somehow I missed all the cool shout-outs!! (But it won't let me post with all of them) .Thanks Jus! and Thanks Robert! -
Bruce and John If they had had the C-MAX in lime green I would have snapped it up. I thought the colors for the Max were very limited! I got the Blue Candy w/med. light stone and love it. My husband calls it a *happy* color. I get a lot of compliments and I NEVER have trouble finding it in a parking lot!

Welcome Queen! Have you decided on the C-MAX or you still comparing? You came to a great place for information. Take your time and read thru the Forum topics. If you don't see the answer you are looking for, just ask! There are some very knowledgeable people on here. Once again, Welcome. Glad you found us.

Hi Seth! Good to hear from you! I am going to *lock* your post, because there is another one from yesterday. We'll try to channel all posts into the same thread. Hope you don't mind. A lot of us heard the same news and were very excited about it. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/2536-ford-to-offer-free-updates-to-boost-hybrid-vehicle-efficiency/

Glad that you have found us Bam48, but so sorry to hear about your problems. I hope the tech guy is on to something about the sync/phone thing. Then they can address the cause, not just replace the battery. There has to be some common denominator/s in all of these battery problems. I wonder if anyone at Ford is looking at it from that angle. Please keep us posted on your progress (Pollyanna optimism showing here :airquote: )

I have this screen up in MY VIEW, and the first time I saw what you are describing, it threw me too. When we were driving to INDY last weekend, all freeway, in Eco-cruise @ 68-70 mph, I saw that yellow bar a lot. My take on it is, if you're doing mostly freeway driving, in Eco-cruise, you're not really *cruising* to add charge the battery. Not the same as if you let off the brakes going downhill, or cruise up to a stoplight. I'm sure someone else can explain it better.

Found it RaPieR!! Thanks! I only had a few minutes to search before I took my daughter to running practice. Then I tried calling the radio station while I was driving and that got me nowhere. Glad to read the full article!!! Better on-road mileage performance for hybrids As its electrified vehicle market share grows, Ford also is taking action to improve the on-road fuel economy performance of 2013-model hybrid vehicles in the United States and Canada. Starting in August, the company will make calibration updates designed to improve on-road fuel economy for owners of the 2013 Ford C-MAX Hybrid, 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid and 2013 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. “We are committed to continuously improving the fuel economy of our vehicles,” said Nair. “We believe these actions will provide our customers enhanced on-road fuel economy satisfaction.” Calibration updates to Ford hybrid vehicles include control system enhancements for a variety of driving conditions on the highway, during short trips and while using the climate control system. Enhancements designed to improve customer satisfaction include: • Increasing the maximum pure electric speed to 85 mph from 62 mph, allowing increased use of electric-only mode on the highway • Optimizing the use of Active Grille Shutters to reduce aerodynamic drag under more driving and temperature conditions including cold weather, during air conditioner use and when the engine coolant temperature is higher • Reducing the electric fan speed as a function of coolant temperature to minimize the fan’s energy consumption • Shortening engine warm-up time by up to 50 percent to enable electric-only driving and engine shutdown at stops sooner after cold starts • Optimizing the climate control system to minimize use of the air conditioning compressor and reduce the energy used in cold weather operation “Just as individual mileage can vary based on driving styles and environmental conditions, we expect fuel economy improvements will differ from customer to customer depending on individual driving habits,” said Nair. “Customers should see the most improvement at highway speeds, during air conditioner use and operation in colder climates.”

Welcome TheXym! This is a great place to learn and share what you've learned about your car!
-
Hi GaryM, and Welcome!! Thanks for sharing your story. I think many can relate. Hope you continue to enjoy your wonderful new ride!!!
-
I agree 100% Joe!! I joined this forum in late December. I was desperate for information......any information on my C-MAX. There was so much that was new to me.....my last new car was 11 years ago....and so much that was new to.....well....most everyone here, because of the technology. I was so grateful to find this group of folks who were not only willing, but EAGER to share what they had learned about their cars. It's been a journey and a learning experience for all of us. We're glad to have you join us on the journey and look forward to your input as you learn about the car!
