Peep, I'm here. Like Jus infers here (and I agree 100%), Priiiiii are lean hollow shellish MPG machines (perfectly fine for many people); to which I add they are sold like pacifiers as are all Toyotas. The current nauseating Toyota commercial features a guy at the dealership to 'buy a new car' - 'which one' the mother/girl friend figure asks, he replies "I don't know" - no idea, no clue, 'What are you (over there) buying?' A purely social buying experience - guess that is all that matters now - (brilliant marketing on Toyotas part) ........... Argh ! Quit ranting Nick !!! (Please can I keep my beautiful not-so-little, brilliantly designed & engineered muscle hybrid C-Max that allows me to drive any way I want short of flying...... handle, comfort, ride, head room ............ pretty please? Oh, and please pass the Poupan) (PS 65 miles today, 46+ MPG, 32 - 40 degrees, Eco Cruise, 58-60 mph, no thinky, no stressed out brain, foot, ............. just watching for raptors along the freeway................ Ommmmm)

Just joined the forum, Picking up the vehicle in the morning
C-MaxSea replied to Daniel Ayers's topic in Welcome
Congrats Daniel & wife. Hope she loves it. Her hybrid is a marvel of technology - like Jus says, take your time learning and check us out for advice if necessary. It's the 'smartest' car out there in my book. Take care, Nick -
Congrats KAC ! Great choice, great color, great options.................Enjoy !!! :yahoo:

Big Congrats HendersonD ! :jump_earth: That Ruby Red is dazzling! Keep us posted, and enjoy the anticipation. Nick

(((( :hat_tip: :hat_tip: :hat_tip: You are indeed a kind gent, Sir Jus. Jus another great helping hand write up))))

Thanks Alexus, the 'age of battery' concern is a good one. Personally, I would not worry too much about the battery, esp. with a good warranty. The build date is essentially a sliding scale for negotiation - the older the vehicle, the harder I'd bargain (and the more testing/documentation I'd want done to show the battery is still prime). Ours was five months old when we bought it, and we have had no problems. All I see right now is a great opportunity to get a great 'new' car at a huge discount - the first such window for the C-Max.
-
Go for a 2014 Alexus! And for the more frugal out there (that's me :skateboard:) - 2013, 2014 essentially the same, either way a winning combination - it's just money. (January, Feb, March, April ....... 2013 build dates, it is all good) Negotiate hard (get a free maint. plan thrown in), buy smart (buy an extended warranty if you like (better yet, get it thrown in)), and 'manage' your dealer. Jus saying, Nick (sitting pretty on a 5 yr MP & an 8 yr EW) (put another way per George Costanza: for a 2013 - 'you've got hand'!)
-
Foto is right; and if the difference is the more likely 2 or 3 mpg, a whopping $50 - $100 a year. The 'birds are in the hand', grab a deal if you can. Also, remember that the cars at the dealer now were built in the last couple months, well into resolved minor technical issues timeframe. Could not be happier with our 2013 (born Aug 2012). 2013 , 2014, either way a winning proposition - it's just money. Nick

And as Willie N. chortles - "On the road again, ..........................." Glad you are MadMaxing again Paul !!!

The dealers around here seem to always have a $5. 6. 7. ... K discount on 2013's - or at least a couple in inventory. I would think you should be able to drive a good bargain right now. Many of us plan to tweak our 2013's with 2014 updates as much as possible if the price is right. I would seriously look at 2013 possibilities, esp. if $ make a difference, and you plan on keeping for a long while. Yust my 2 cents worth. Nick

"When it was time to get a new car, I wanted a hatchback hybrid that felt higher with a good dashboard—no competition from the Japanese manufacturers for my requirements. No idea about the C-Max until I searched hybrids a few months ago which then started an obsession. Never thought I'd go with a Ford but so glad I did." Great story, great move redux ! Couldn't agree more - "no competition........". (They sell T. P.'s like pacifiers around here, often purchased site unseen, or purely on color selection only - sad.) We are very happy with our Ford - keep on C-Maxing, Nick

In the market for new car, would you buy another C-Max?
C-MaxSea replied to HendersonD's topic in General Discussion
Yes, absolutely yes! It all depends on your needs / likes of course .................., but we love our C-Max as our touring / road trip / fun vehicle, other cars for grungy work. It is tops for hybrids in our view; having much more desirable features, ride, handling, acceleration, audio, instrumentation, materials ...................... a very rewarding drive experience and great gas efficiency. We really love the quietness, and knowing that more than half the time we are floating along without the drone of an internal combustion engine and it's exhaust. Drive everything you want to look at more than once, keep a C-Max overnight driving it on all kinds of roads, understand your needs, decide for yourself, don't believe everything you read, look, touch, listen........... I believe the C-Max is a uniquely elegant transportation solution for the urban environment and beyond. (Of course plug-in & pure electric are even better, but how far down the road can they get you?) Good Luck, Nick -
Yes, and a little: God Jul och ett riktigt Gott Nytt År! to all as well, Nick & clan Here is something even more fun than a C-Max: The "worlds fastest Spark" A Spark is normally a kick-sled for getting around on the snowy roads & paths - like getting to Julotta very early Christmas morning to celebrate Christ's birth (if not walking or skiing). (God Jul to my clan up in Kiruna & Pajala!) and for Laurel (since she thinks I'm 'old country'): Caution, video is long & painful. Apologies to all 'real Swedes' out there in C-Max land.

Yes, Paul, that is as low as I've ever seen it - partly due to EV+, partly due to my driving style. I tend to float home on EV (whether I want to or not), and grind out on ICE - like most I guess - and it all washes out trip to trip. I was not expecting such a good number with the temp, and thrilled with the result. Temps are safely back into the 40's. Nick (Paul, I will check my "next trip" tomorrow) (Next trip, actually two days / two loops, 18/18, 12/12, 61 miles tot., 36-38 degrees, 44 mpg (gauge) - not bad for four cold starts)
-
and in the not-so-cold Pacific NW, 34-38 degrees F, 47+- MPG, loop run, mostly urban freeway at 55-58 mph in a 60 zone. Nick

A huge welcome here as well Rebecca - thanks for 'joining the fray'. One little itty bitty thing I would like to mention: The My View screen; Being OC about MPG's, I would like to have "Trip 2" in that configuration; it is there, but it does not include the MPG's (or miles) like the 'normal' trip screens. Therefore, I am constantly flipping back & forth between the primary displays and the trip displays. Hope you follow that. Seems like the My View Trip option would have that 'vital' piece of infor for us OC MPGers. Thanks, & welcome again, Nick (We :wub2: our C-Max !!!)

Argh, shame on me. I had mine down in order to replace the sunscreen, and forgot to take photos - sorry. My apologies. I can only attest that it takes a fair amount of time (for me being extra careful, a few hours) to dismantle the perimeter trim in order to 'hang' the liner from front to back, minimizing the work up front and working from back to front. Good luck, and take good pictures ;). Nick

That is good news wb8nbs. (I'd call that "C-Max problem" - Solved) I too always have to have that extra assurance the car is locked - whatever the car I am locking. The nice thing with the C-Max touch system is you can listen for the solenoid to thump and see the light on the side mirror flash at the same time - a nice immediate double assurance. Hope you are finding the dash display more enjoyable every day. It requires some time to customize to your liking. Which trim package did you get? I would recommend resetting the right display to get rid of the leaves, replacing it with something more useful, like the Navigation ball if you have that. Take it one step at a time, and explore these display options. It sounds like you will need to patiently master these, and slowly introduce them to your wife, championing there value. Again, little by little, and don't forget to watch the road ahead - do most of your fiddling in the driveway or garage. Best of luck again, Nick

Maxine - she is beautiful ! Good to see you two riding 'steady' again ! (& those poor homely Prii C's - phaw)
