The C-Max Bar - The Best Place to Greet & Talk
wab replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
We enjoyed a new experience yesterday morning. We headed home from Colorado about 7AM and it was 18*. I told DW we were going to have to do some serious hypermiling, NO HEAT except for the seats. She replied “yea right! Not even in your dreams!” The new experience was seeing the ICE start with a nearly full HVB, DOWN hill at 60 mph. I had to look often to catch it NOT running. We have new respect :worship: for anyone in the “normal” teens and below temperature zones… OUCH! -
" says that Ford remains committed to the C-Max" HHhhmmm statements like usually means a death sentence in the not to far future. BUT maybe there are enough people like dw and I that bought it for the body style and the ability to be towed behind a motor home (couldn't be happier, NO fuse, no stop and run the motor, etc!) MPG was on our list... somewhere. Edit: after 13B07 our life time mpg has steadily improved, 40.4 since mid April. Unfortunately that will drop week after next (675 miles at 75+), hopefully not back to the mid 30’s!

Greetings and Welcome Good to see another Cmax pushing a motor home. We have over 3000 towed miles on our cmax with zero problems. The ability to be towed was #1 on our list. Here are 2 threads with A LOT of good info. It’s better to check the whole thread before coming to any conclusions about the 12v battery, YOU DO NEED A CHARGE WIRE from the motor home we used a BrakeBuddy 39332. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/374-recreational-towing-behind-a-motor-home/ http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3237-towing-c-max-behind-an-rv-battery-and-odometer-problems/ http://www.amazon.com/BrakeBuddy-39332-Vehicle-Battery-Maintainer/dp/B004RCXB8A Brake Buddy 39332 Check etrailer.com, they have an excellent video library. We leave for south central CO. from N TX Monday .

:headspin: If I hadn't been looking/thinking 12 seconds down the road I would have TBONED her. The car in front of me made a right turn (blocking me to the right) and THERE SHE was, but I had already seen her, lifted and had my foot on the brake. I asked a co worker, after I thought she was going to kill us, how far down the street she looked? She looked/thought a few seconds and said "2 or 3 stripes"... I suggested she start looking 4 or 5 :headspin:.

What is the 12M02 Field Service Action?
wab replied to HPRifleman's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
Don't know if this will help??? I did a Google search and found 152 hits. https://www.google.com/search?as_q=&as_epq=4.29.12285.&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&lr=&cr=&as_qdr=all&as_sitesearch=&as_occt=any&safe=images&tbs=&as_filetype=&as_rights= -
OUCH on your Honda Fit. Have you had any of the recalls completed? http://www.thecarconnection.com/news/1055601_honda-recalls-2009--2010-fit-over-693000-units-affected http://www.motortrend.com/cars/2009/honda/fit/recalls/ Did Honda ever get them to stop catching on fire? My nephew has one, it’s been recalled twice for the window fire starter (it's killed some people).

“I was running errands in the car next day in pouring rain and it ran fine.” Check this thread, looks like you may need to take your cmax to the dealer. :worship: "Any chance that Ford remotely updating software or reading our CMax Hybrid " Thanks for an opportunity to insert a little humor. But first I have to go buy more aluminum foil to wrap the cmax, the dirty no good $#&& ARE NOT GOING to eavesdrop on me any more!!! I’m back. :lol2: They can't access the car when your phone isn’t in range. The Energi has its own cell # so in theory they could call it. thanks

I probably got a ZERO brake score this morning. But hay now I do KNOW the ABS works. Someone :drop: pulled out RIGHT in front of me, we got stopped with barely a foot between us.
-
We made five 675 one way trips (11 hours) last year and plan that many this year. I like the seating position better than our 08 MKX (traded for the cmax). I plan to remove the dead pedal. One thing you need to know, anything above 70 mph will KILL your mpg, we get low to mid 30’s at 75.

Towing electrical harness installation

John hasn’t been here in a while. This may be what he used. http://www.etrailer.com/Custom-Fit-Vehicle-Wiring/Ford/C-Max/2013/119190KIT.html?vehicleid=20138903- 9 replies

I thought I remembered someone having a problem with theirs but couldn't find it searching for "Steering Wheel", you might try searching for "Steering Wheel Controls", "Wheel Controls", etc.

jaczac56 2.7 volts WOW that’s in the range where REALLY weird things start happening. Even the electronics that DO NOT have a problem will start using each other as a ground OR battery source. WHICH BRINGS USE BACK TO Salman’s post.

When Wipers on / Headlights on?
wab replied to Muttonhead's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
The key word in the owner’s manual is “continuously. “ Here’s a thread from Oct. See post #8. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3083-headlights-auto-onauto-light-rain/?hl=wipers -
The Vibe is a re-badged Toyota Matrix, they stopped making them in 2013. I took a quick look on Amazon and eBay, there are K'S!
-
Mike have you looked at other manufactures spoilers? This Vibe/Matrix aftermarket spoiler might fit???

I ALWAYS found it a real challenge to convince an engineer that real world testing (trouble clearing) is ALWAYS better than testing in the lab.

"I offered to let them add some "debugging" device to the car and watch the battery and other systems until it happens again, and then they would know if something didn't turn off, but obviously that's not an option - I find it weird that Ford has not asked for volunteers for such a program. I am sure that most of us would agree to having their car monitored just so they can find out what's going on and get it fixed." The company I retired from has had that attitude for the past 10 years. " We have the worlds best equipment, engineers and technicians PERIOD!"

Escape roof rails for C-max ???
wab replied to Smiling Jack's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
Check this then SEARCH for “rack” Lots of info about roof racks, not sure about the Escape rack. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/index.php?app=core&module=search&search_in=forums -
I thought it was just ours. I first noticed it after our NAV and USB port died so thought it was repair related. I’ve been taking mental notes when it happens. We have the auto headlights and it’s always on. Only happens at sun up/down Headlights do not go off Green headlight indicator stays on Eventually the sun completely sets or comes up and the bright/dim/bright/dim stops. Edsel Do you see this when you push one of the buttons? Do the # of bars increase or decrease? The display should get noticeably brighter/dimmer.

How do you cut the foam? I’ve never used this method just read about it a few yrs ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3E8CwwviG8

Wasn't that ground connection one of the ones Ford suggested checking/removing the paint? In telecommunications, (a lot of the power is less than 12v DC), a missing or high resistance ground IS ALWAYS the hardest to find. I leave ours running (only happened a couple of times), if the battery ever fails during one of these short/no ICE runs then maybe more evidence for Ford.

I don't know much (anything) about Carbon Fiber so I took a look. Was thinking you might skip the fiber glass and go straight to the Carbon. The hatch is about 50" wide so you would need 2 of these. http://dragonplate.com/ecart/product.asp?pID=5750&cID=201 for 48"

Found it, starts on post # 294 by CassidyB and 295 by JohnnOhio. Follow JohnnOhio, he had to seek legal help to get his dealer to complete the install. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/2536-ford-to-offer-free-updates-to-boost-hybrid-vehicle-efficiency/page-15?hl=13b07
