  1. 13b07 was just software BUT it took the dealer multiple attempts and 2 days to get it installed. Evidently the body control module has a LOT to do with most if not all software on the cmax??? Every single update, including the one we downloaded (took the dealer 4 tries) took multiple attempts. The BCM was defective from the factory after it was replaced the tech installed ALL new software in one attempt, he said he wishes he had changed it 2 yrs ago. We're much happier with Liar now that it almost gets the EPA estimates, but are not planning to change it's name.
  2. Welcome to my club. Hopefully a few more thousand miles will get you to <60 mph mid 40's and 70+ high 30's . We finally made it to the low 's 40's below 60 after 13b07 (4 mpg gain), a new body control module AND ALL software reinstalled (another 4 mpg gain). But we still after 50k miles get low 30s at 70+ mph. We've had a couple of 70+ mph 37mpg tanks under ideal conditions (no ac, no head wind, downhill from CO to TX).
  3. Ours gives us trouble, we use it a lot. Is the lever easy are hard to move? Ours is hard to move making me think the seat is broken. Unless I pull/push on the seat back at the same time I work the lever.
  4. Didn't MEAN to set you off. "I am attempting to resolve the issue without causing a long protracted issue that both taxes myself" How's that working out?
  5. Jenie Here are a couple of suggestions. 1. NEVER contact Ford about this problem again! And don't be mad at Ford, it's just "(big) business". 2. Google "Minnesota lemon lawyer" The first visit is free and you may be surprised/happy with what you learn. https://www.google.com/search?as_q=&as_epq=Minnesota+lemon+lawyer&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&lr=&cr=&as_qdr=all&as_sitesearch=&as_occt=any&safe=images&as_filetype=&as_rights=
  6. Good job, saved you a couple hundred! Is there anything special about the thermostat? If it's a standard thermostat then Autozone, O'Reilly etc should be cheaper and much more convenient.
  7. Strange or coincidence. I've left our 13 auto headlights on several times, no problems We've had 1 dead battery after 2 years and 30+K miles. I figure it was caused by a poorly maintained (me, I never charged it) and poorly designed charging system. Our dealer replaced it. I've charged the new one a few times. Takes longer to take a charge than any other car we've owned.
  8. Your battery is/has died, we got the low bat message a couple of times before it wouldn't start the car. BUT this was after 2 years of no 12v battery maintenance, SHAME on me. The new 12v gets it's charge on a regular basis (like my previous long lived batteries (I've also cleaned the posts on this one they needed it))
  9. Read on another forum that Sirius will be free Nov.19 to Dec 2, 2015.
  10. Most auto supply stores (Autozone) will read the OBDII codes for free. They wont clear the codes but they might ;) go answer the phone while you clear them. BUT FIRST have you checked all the fluids?
  11. Does this sound familiar OR what. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2015/11/exclusive-volkswagen-to-announce-tdi-goodwill-program-next-week/ "Volkswagen of America, in a bid to regain the trust of current diesel owners, will announce a prepaid card campaign on November 9, TTAC has learned. The program, detailed to dealers Thursday in preparation of its public announcement, is aimed at current owners of affected TDI models regardless of whether they bought their car new or used. Two prepaid cards will be offered to those TDI owners. The first one will be for $500 and has no restrictions on where it can be used. The second, which may be valued between $500 and $750, will be limited to use at Volkswagen dealerships. According to our tipster, owners of affected models will need to visit their local Volkswagen dealership with proof of vehicle ownership to activate the prepaid cards. Owners can find out if they qualify for the “TDI Goodwill Program” by going to www.vwdieselinfo.com and doing a VIN lookup on or after November 9. If they qualify, owners will then be asked to register to receive updates regarding future developments on their diesel vehicles. The program is expected to apply only to four-cylinder diesels for now, though it could be expanded to 3-liter V-6 diesels later. Representatives for Volkswagen of America could not be reached for comment. The additional cash could be a plus for those looking to stay with the brand but get away from their diesel cars. Volkswagen announced October 31 that they would subsidize dealers to take in TDI vehicles on trade at pre-crisis valuations, on top of a $2,000 TDI owner loyalty discount announced October 2."
  12. That message usually means there is no SD card installed. If you have a SD installed try ejecting and reinstalling if it still fails. You can buy a new card on ebay for about $50. Here's an A6 on amazon for $66.95. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00V392V4A/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1446826703&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=ford+nav+sd+card+a6&dpPl=1&dpID=41WnIeyJo9L&ref=plSrch
  13. The high voltage battery warranty is 8yrs/100,000 miles. Like all automotive lead acid batteries the 12volt battery should be OK for 2 to maybe 5 years, unless in a SE cmax.
  14. Anybody think the EPA has ever compaired the emissions from a car burning E0 and then retest the same car using E10 for 4000/4348 gallons, wonder which would pollute more. 23 mpg X 4348 gal = 100,000 miles for how much bad air? 25 mpg X 4000 gal = 100,000 miles for how much bad air?
  15. Lets reverse rolls and revisit the past for a couple of minutes. It's May 2013 your 3 month old cmax can't even get 37 mpg much less 47 as advertised, your brake score is 98, you've added 5 lbs to the tires, you've tried "pulse and glide". You haven't been tailgating, you haven't added "Grill Covers" but you have thought about it (remember you're in my cmax reliving 2013). Nothing helps. Moving forward to 13B07 WOW you're just about the only one on the forum who is happy with your almost 5 MPG gain. Then you get the first check and a new EPA sticker :swear:. Another check and another EPA sticker :rant2: And ANOTHER trip to the dealer for new hardware and software, time for another WOW another 4.? mpg gain which is pretty close to a total 33% MPG gain since new (low 30s to low 40s)... Time to switch places. Here's a thought on improving MPG, go to a taller tire, Discount Tire has 5 in 225/65/17 that are fuel efficient, 2 are Mitchelin
  16. Our cmax is not normal, I just grit my teeth and live with it. First car we have ever had that didn’t get or beat the EPA. Our 2015 Audi A3 beats the EPA 27/33... 28/34 with a high of 37.5 on a 680 mile return trip from CO with AC on I put 50 lbs in for one 680 mile return trip from CO. Best highway mpg ever 37.3 with eco cruse set at 77 it was early spring so no AC. Always use eco cruse our EV miles are usually in the high teens after a tank of highway only. From day 1 its never been capable of getting the new new EPA mileage 42/37. New it got in the low 31’s/low 31’s RECAL 14B07 brought it up to mid 35’s/low 32’s Last year the BCM was replaced and all new software installed got it to low 42’s/low 33’s We usually get 42ish in town and almost always get 33ish 100% highway, even with eco cruse set at 70 (1 trip to Florida).
  17. I'm going to bump our eco cruse speed from 78 to 82 on our 680 mile compute to Colorado. Before all the posted speed limits were bumped from 70 (eco cruse set at 73) to 75 it would take a little more than 11 hours. With the new limits we do the commute in a little over 10 hrs. Personally I'll take the MPG hit for the saved hour
  18. Depends on the state, NO ticket in TX if the officer doesn't think any laws were broken, doesn't witness the accident, etc. $35K+ car built in 1982 I'm thinking the 911 called his lawyer ("morning Tom someone just hit my 911 in the rear") before his insurance co. Going to be interesting to see who fixes whose car.
  19. This email is from your bank, your personal info needs to be updated. please click here to update your personal info. 408,000 hits on Google for "odometer rollback" https://www.google.com/search?as_q=&as_epq=odometer+rollback&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&lr=&cr=&as_qdr=all&as_sitesearch=&as_occt=any&safe=images&as_filetype=&as_rights= $69.00 buys the tool. 20. Check with your insurance co. I've been told by a fairly reliable source ( a few yrs ago) that the "you need our insurance on the rental" was a scam. If you had a wreck in the rental your insurance co would rent the rental while it was being repaired. I'm sure someone in the rental/insurance business will dispute/verify this. Check with your insurance co.
  21. A friend has to replace pads/rotors on his wife's car (even on a hybrid a few yrs ago) every year, never more than 12K miles. She parks in a multistory parking garage plus she's a left foot braker.
  22. maxanotcar "and I just found that out on last Friday while I was stumbling around getting the jumpstarter in the powered-down-locked cargo area" Will your 12v jump fit in the storage compartment under the rear seat floor mat? FYI there are 12v jump connections under the hood.
