3.5.1......Anyone? Anyone?
ArizonaEnergi replied to Adair's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
After a failed attempt yesterday, the 3.5.1 upgrade and the associated firmware upgrade to make it possible was completed, along with the rear hatch improvement Have all the new goodies in the screen, and it appears more responsive. Will test tomorrow if it solved my "no pausing USB-stick MP3 files" problem. Unfortunately service didn't call us that it was finished at 1PM, and our Service Advisor was off, so my calls to him went unanswered, so it was past 5PM when we found out car was ready, which was a bit irrating. Hopefully the firmware fix will allow us to make future software updates from home, as we've seen enough of the dealer to last a decade. -
Graffetti printed on my SEL windshield
ArizonaEnergi replied to mtb9153's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
I would clean it off, drop it, and move on. The time to complain was when the policeman was standing there, but you missed that in all the excitement. I would fantasize about painting "NO PARKING" in dayglow orange paint across her curb some dark night, though, but that would be wrong too. -
3.5.1......Anyone? Anyone?
ArizonaEnergi replied to Adair's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
No joy. Took the Energi in at 7:30AM. Got the shuttle to home, which also picked us up at 3:00. Car was ready at 5:00. Or so everyone thought. When I got in and started it I got an SD Card error, and the navigation screen would not come up. Tech came and tried a few times with same results. We were given a rent car (Lincoln MKZ - a $48k car - the CMax is better) and hopefully tomorrow will get a call that a re-install worked. Got a signed letter from Ford Corporate a few days ago. They want me to call them regarding a survey I filled out at some point. They want more information. I'll be waiting until my CMax is fixed, and definitely working, before I call them. -
The hitch does not interfere with the foot-activated door. Just make sure the bike rack is padded in case you trigger it with the rack on!

3.5.1......Anyone? Anyone?
ArizonaEnergi replied to Adair's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
I'm in at 7:30AM tomorrow. Both the updates showed up for my car in OASIS. I added checking the 12v battery capacity as my battery continues to show 12.4v when fully charged, rather than 12.6v. Finally! The long C-Max Early Adopter nightmare is nearly over! (Knocking on skull) -

In another forum there's a discussion of Tesla Model S cars. It was interesting to see what a car company that is on the cutting edge does about software updates, per a Tesla owner: "Recommend anyone looking to buy or lease car that cost $60K or over take a test drive in a Tesla before purchase or lease. Best part of car is that every couple weeks get new applications and controls for car through downloads to 17" computer screen on dashboard from company in California." Of course, Tesla is not dealing with 10,000's of owners! -
Ford Etis Website - Check It Out!
ArizonaEnergi replied to ArizonaEnergi's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
A great find and posting by Agapesong over on the Energi forum. I am merely a messenger carrying it over to this forum. Calling tomorrow morning about getting mine in for the upgrades shown on the Etis site. Will post the results! -
Ford Etis Website - Check It Out!
ArizonaEnergi replied to ArizonaEnergi's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
That's certainly my hope! "Application Performance Upgrade" better not be just a new font! -
This was posted on the Energi forum but a search didn't find it here. (Kudos to Agapesong.) This is a great resource, especially for the upgrades it shows are waiting for me! 3.5.1! Here's the link: http://www.etis.ford.com/ Just enter your VIN and see a whole lot of info on your vehicle, and resources for maintenance. Roof Rack installation difficulty
ArizonaEnergi replied to stephengoldberger's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
Excellent how-to! We just went on a short trip in our Energi and things were a bit full. I'm thinking about pulling out the 2/3 rear seat for a big trip we have this summer, and/or coming up with some storage devices to make better use of the interior space, all to try and avoid the roof carrier. We have a hitch but the two bikes are back there or I'd use it and a box. -
I suspect the high reving ICE in the Hybrid is due to the fact there's little or no regeneration to be done, so the excess revolutions must be borne by the ICE, rather than the electric motor/generator. In the Energi the battery can take the charging so the silent motor/generator does the spinning and regeneration. How does that sound?
-
Unless the Hybrid L is different from the Energi, the only difference in L vs D is the amount of regeneration while decelerating. A thread on this is here, with a general conclusion that at steady speeds it is less efficiency as coasting gives better MPG than regen.: http://fordcmaxenergiforum.com/topic/748-low-gear-regen-ive-heard-its-more-aggressive-but-how-much-any-links-and-my-experience/

There's a notch on the front passenger side of the console to route wires out of it, although I seem to be able to route wires out anywhere on the front. Probably need to look at that to see if they're being squished.

The good news reedmother, is that this is the first post I've seen of an A/C failure, the bad news is it happened to you! Rest assured when it is fixed, it will work very well as our 98F temperatures today demonstrated for us. Sorry to hear of your troubles.

My wife is making a small pillow for the armrest making it larger and softer to make long trips more enjoyable.

The quotes provided by kbf1 came from a Facebook posting by a woman named Jess Martin, a Chicago resident, in a thread kbf1 started there that links back to this very thread. https://www.facebook.com/FordCMAX?filter=2 It also appears kbf1 is a socket puppet entity on FaceBook, probably set up for the purpose of attacking the C-Max for unknown reasons. Unfortunately they don't have moderators at FB to control the nonsense.

Can you provide a link for that quote, because having six C-Max's in the same location fail within 2 days seems remarkable, and more information would be valuable. Where did you find it?

Dead 12 Volt: Water in Electrical Connectors
ArizonaEnergi replied to salman's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
It would be very useful if someone could post pictures or a diagram of where the three connectors (C140, C144, and C165) are located so we DIY types could do some self-examination. Excellent write-up by Plus 3 Golfer above, BTW. -
Mine was back down to 12.2 this morning, after sitting all weekend. Disappointing.

Both Google Earth and latlong.net agree and place the coordinates shown by Garmin/Ford about 20' from where the car was. Just checked again and no ALT shown anywhere.
-
Alert: I rechecked the first one I did prior to doing the second to make sure I pushed it in all the way and noticed that the socket has a notch with the rubber plug having a corresponding tab, so make sure you align these when re-inserting the plug with the new LED.
-
Thanks for where to find the Lat and Long. I found it, but no elevation shown (a 3.5.1 improvement?), and it almost exactly equals my Garmin read-out on Lat and Long, so my GPS accuracy is excellent after having the GPSM replaced.

There's a thread going on over in the Energi forum (combine these forums!) on putting an invisible bra on your C-Max. Apparently installers charge about $400-$500 for this, but a search found this supplier of all-things invisible (and window tint!) for the C-Max. Check it out: http://www.invisiblemask.com/cgi-bin/products_ip/browser.cgi?prevtype=Automobiles+and+light+trucks&prevyear=2013&prevmake=FORD&prevmodel=C-MAX&prevsubmodel=&prevseries=&type=Automobiles+and+light+trucks&year=2013&make=FORD&model=C-MAX&submodel=ENERGI

That's especially interesting as I have the GPS and can't find anywhere in the menus the Lat, Long or Elevation of my location. Anyone have a clue where that is? (Full Disclosure: still stuck on 3.1.3)
