  1. No, the Hybrid model also has the rear 12v always-on outlet, although I don't know if the SE does. It's on the passenger side at the back if you have one. But you can plug a voltmeter into the front outlet with the car on, then turn it off and get out, and after all the lights automatically shut off you'll get a pretty good voltage reading. But the reading from the battery posts under the hood will be better, and you don't have to start/stop the car and wait around.
  2. Positive is the large one on the right. You can see the cover that is normally over it.
  3. This are the charge points under the hood. Much better to use with a modern charger like diesel recommends than the 12v outlet in the back with a charger that uses that method.
  4. No, you can't do that as diesel pointed out above. When the car is on the 12v is being charged by the HV battery and what you'll see is the charging voltage. What I do is plug in my voltmeter to the outlet in front, close the door, and let all the various circuits shut down over a few minutes, then I can read the voltage for about 15 minutes with minimal extra drain. Or, plug it into the rear outlet and after all the circuits shut down in a few minutes you will get a reading with nothing extra running - if you can see it. I can't do this because of my limo tint. I don't know what the lowest it can be and still start, but I had a lot of 12.1v readings and it still started. I would guess it would have to be below 12v before it didn't have enough voltage to activate the circuits. This is the poll I started on voltage readings that had minimal participation. I finally stopped monitoring mine after the DCDC service mod as it showed an improvement and I never had any problems starting the car, and I got bored checking it. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1566-what-is-your-12-volt-battery-voltage/?hl=%2Bvoltage+%2Bchart&do=findComment&comment=14799 This is the voltage monitor I bought, although it turned out to show the same as the older one I used while RVing: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EVWDU0/ref=oh_details_o09_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  5. Had the headliner done today, along with the door chime bonus recall item. Took exactly 3 hours from when I dropped it off to when I was called that it was ready. Headliner looks exactly the same, and can't tell what was added. Haven't tested the chime although I told the SA I didn't really want it but he said they had no choice since it was a safety item.
  6. Sorry, I didn't include that as a recommendation, just an example of what's out there. This is the one that I actually favored but it had a warning about excessive heat that might be a problem for storing in a car. Nevertheless, its the one I would have bought: http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-Simple-Start-Battery-Booster/dp/B005GO5E10/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=1VYZFBVSO1X0Y&coliid=I3LPACAE4FTIDS BTW, your story about trying to open the wrong car was very funny. These things all look alike! We solved the problem by sticking an orange "76" ball on the antenna!
  7. Isn't that the way computers are suppose to work? Input the same data and get the same results.
  8. The ones that will crank a starter motor are. All that is needed are the types that will recharge a dead battery over time, which in the case of the C-Max will just provide enough 12v to start the electronics up. I was going to buy one but haven't had any battery problems since buying 9 months ago so I didn't. Example of this type of device (updated): http://www.amazon.com/Jump-Emergency-Starter-Miles-Kimball/dp/B007KDFXNO/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=1VYZFBVSO1X0Y&coliid=I3JZPM7YY845V
  9. Just get rid of the blinking white circle would be good for me. What idiocy!
  10. Yes, show inside stuff in the other thread and outside stuff in this one.
  11. We needed a second big trash can from Lowe's and this was the first use of the aluminum cargo tray, and a cargo net, both from Harbor Freight. Worked out very well. While I miss the cargo capacity of our Honda Odyssey with the 2nd and 3rd row seats removed, we think the hitch and tray will meet most needs. We can always rent a light trailer if we buy something really big.
  12. Ran across this link to a Ford PDF with some interesting how-tos and technical data on the C-Max Hybrid and Energi: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=20&cad=rja&ved=0CIsBEBYwCTgK&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.motorcraftservice.com%2Fcontent%2Fpdf%2F2013_CMAX_Modifer_Guide.pdf&ei=kp5NUr2eK8fniALghICgCQ&usg=AFQjCNH7bQUAIMtmg07APam1UEAs27E7ew&sig2=giB5l-G80hPrYhnLAhrR5Q&bvm=bv.53537100,d.cGE
  13. The high voltage battery is used to keep the 12v battery charged via a DC to DC converter. And there's no traditional starter, rather the electric motor/generator is used to start the ICE and that is powered by the HV battery.
  14. I was sitting in a parking lot recently waiting for the wife to buy food and tried all three of those while watching the kWh draw and it made a HUGE difference. Unfortunately, I can't get the wife to use recirculation and still working on getting higher AC temps as she seems to think 67 is where it should be.
  15. Copied the MP3 files from my D: drive to the thumb drive.
  16. I just received an email that Weathertech now has a cargo mat available for the C-Max Hybrid, but not the Energi. Looks pretty nice for $90. http://www.weathertech.com/ford/2013/c-max/cargo-liner/plug-in-hybrid/no/
  17. Maybe the solution is to teach one's kids to never open the door while in motion, and to always keep their seats belts on in case they forget. There were no seat belts when I was a kid, but perhaps my parents did tell me not to mess with the doors.
  18. I was puzzled why my mileage making a trip from Tucson to Sun City West outside Phoenix was always better going than coming back, like 44.1 vs. 39.4. When I eliminated wind as a major factor on this last trip, I decided to check the elevation using this nifty tool and found out it's a downhill trip going and, imagine this, uphill coming back!
  19. By "double tap", do you mean press the cruise control cancel button then press the resume button when the car has returned to 66 or so?
  20. Here's the previous thread on where the filter is and how to replace it. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1816-wheres-the-cabin-air-filter/
  21. Why that's missing from the Maintenance section of the owner's manual is a mystery, especially since the recommendation is to check it every 10,000 miles.
  22. Just buy another one. The odds of getting another lemon are extremely small.
  23. After getting my GPS Module replaced to fix the location error, and the latest mapping software, A4, I am very happy I paid the extra large amount for it, and the rear camera! I recently had to go into a part of town I was not familiar with and I just spoke the address "123 Jones Street City" and it found it immediately. I like the large screen and don't see ever going back to my little 4" Garmin.
  24. I seem to recall the number of visits to the same location needs to be 11 to trigger the feature, and just turning your car on and off 11 times while stopped there will do it - no time span required.
