  1. Thanks. Amazon, using the bulbs others here have used. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0064O0NB2/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  2. Finally! Success in removing the license light sockets and replacing the 19th century bulbs with 21st century. I don't know why I had so much trouble - tried at least five times - I think having the first one get hung up freaked me out. Being an ex-hippie I'm allowed to freak out at 65! So here's some pictures showing the latch, and how to open it using a small long screwdriver. Also seen is the discoloration from the heated wire bulb, and the final results. Thanks for all the help. The manual has a brief section on how to do this with diagram but I would rate it a 2 on a 1-10 scale for being useful. YMMV.
  3. Fortunately I have personally lost 40# over the past 15 months so my car is at net zero!
  4. Here's mine installed. I like the bright stars down the center.
  5. A thread over on Energi prompted me to use a picture I found on Reddit of the milky way over Mt Rainer as my first self-provided wallpaper. (Original: http://pcdn.500px.net/40109718/01ac381a3aa822fa468d1a371bcf340fa6dfa9b7/2048.jpg ) It had just the right amount of light and darkness that should allow for easy viewing of text. I took the original excellent photo and cropped it to the required 800x384, put it in a USB drive and loaded it up using the simple menu. So do you have a great wallpaper? Let's see it!
  6. To make them easier to remove once you discover they don't do squat for fuel economy? As a reminder, Ford says fuel economy on the C-Max will continue to improve up to about 3,000 miles, so don't let that be interpreted as a GasPod effect.
  7. Thanks. I'll try again to get it out and if I'm successful maybe I'll find out why I couldn't get it to re-seat.
  8. Not showing up on my ETIS page, so I guess "certain C-Max Hybrids" indeed excludes the Energi. Perhaps it already has the tweaks? Hope springs eternal.
  9. How did you get these lights out and open? I tried carefully prying one from the short ends and it came out a little and loose but I could not see how to get it further out or remove the clear cover. Unfortunately now it won't fit tightly back in, so a tab or something may have broken but that's a different problem.

  11. I don't believe these devices will improve gas mileage, but they do make the roof look interesting and easier to spot across a parking lot! Can you imagine a roof covered with a 100 of them?
  12. I just looked at my two license plate light bulb sockets through their lens and both showed brown heat discoloration around the rim, similar to the photo above. When I touched the lens they were very hot even though the lights had turned off minutes earlier. This is definitely a location that would benefit from LEDs. UPDATE: Ordered some LEDs for the license plate lights today Tuesday. Pictures and report after they arrive.
  13. I was told I would be able to install these types of updates myself. Is that fantasy finally going to become a reality, or will this be another cluster-fark with over-night stays at the dealership? I see Ford is hiring 500 engineers for their hybrid-electric car effort. Could like 10 of those be assigned to fixing the updating issues? As this point I dread taking my car in as life is just too short.
  14. Anyone know how to tell if the noise suppression system is NOT working?
  15. +1 million. Stupidest thing I've seen since Microsoft Bob. What were they thinking? "Oh, let's add a useless blinking circle in case the driver can't find the red icon that is always in the center of the screen!" Although, this is neither an accessory or add-on. Returning to topic I offer: a trash container for the door pockets that can be removed.
  16. Well, this is just great. The Energi version, being about 10% (guess) of the C-Max market, isn't important enough to include in the update?
  17. I got my renewal letter today. $144.90 for one year. I have no real interest in it or any of the features at that price or even a negotiated lesser amount. I consider expenses like this "vampire expenses" that drain a little from one's funds drip by drip, hardly noticed, but the bank account is smaller and one ponders why.
  18. And more, but what about the other four items listed? They will benefit us and it's doubtful we have them yet. Me and we want!
  19. There's an article in the Wall Street Journal today about how well Ford is doing with hybrid sales California. Google the title to view the article.
  20. I have been using the EV battery in town and when I approach the Interstate switch to EV later to preserve whatever is left of the EV battery for the end of the trip. While on the road in this mode and Eco, the car appears to perform like a normal Hybrid using the battery occasionally and showing a charge and discharge of the Hybrid battery. The one time when I forgot to go into EV Later after shutting off the car the EV battery was quickly drained, and it ran like a normal Hybrid, although I have not been real successful in achieving ICE High, perhaps because on the Interstate between Tucson and Arizona it's very tempting to move with the traffic which is doing 75.
  21. I don't see the Energi mentioned. We want the upgrades that apply to us! We're people too!
  22. Europe may have different safety standards. I too had hoped the C-Max being produced in Europe for a few years, albeit different models than we ended up with, would have prevented most of the new model problems but it doesn't seem to have worked out that way.
  23. I'm not going to be the Guinea Pig on this repair like I was for my dealer on the GPSM fix and the 3.5.1 upgrade fix. After I get the recall letter, I'm waiting awhile, maybe two or three months, before I take mine in. I've driven in cars for 65 years and haven't had a rollover yet, so I'm willing to take a chance on this one. Can I say this here? This is totally farked up! I think I've been cured of buying a first-year model car, not that I have that many new car purchases in front of my remaining life on this planet.
  24. Maybe it's missing some padding? Shows up in mine with BD of 1/9/13. No way I'm spending another day at the dealer unless it's really, really important.
