There is a cure for number 8. Look for the thread. We have a generous member who is making a little shelf add-on that a lot of people like.

I made the first runs today. Unfortunately, I had to divert from my regular route when one of Miami's many bridges opened for a ship. Up to that point, I think that my FE was down during the earliest part of the trip, but it was up by the time I reached that point. I was actually doing better than usual for the total trip to that point. On the way back, I definitely got better numbers than usual. Now, since you mention break-in, I note that my car is at like 1987 miles. So, it could be that trying this on the first tank reduced FE, and now that I am starting to reach break-in, I can start to get a benefit from it. I'll keep working on it. Next question: You are traveling at your intended speed using pulse and glide. When you are ready to pulse, do you really stomp on the pedal again, all the way back up to two bars for a quick recharge, or are doing less than this?

I tried firing off two pics, but there were too many cars in the way. This was almost certainly a local, not a rental. It was heading into a purely residential area, not a more tourist populated part of Miami Beach.

Spare Tire Solution for C-Max Hybrid.

What about something like this? -
I am pretty much in line with Plus 3 about some important points. You must start from the proposition that the person seeing this is hearing about this for the very first time, and is in second grade. You must spoon feed an incredibly clear rendition of why you are trying to reach him/her, what has happened, and what you want him to do. Merely referencing prior discussions or correspondence will be of no value if the recipient never bothered reading any of the things that you mention. Attaching or forwarding things that the recipient have to dig through to figure things out will lower your chances for a favorable outcome. Do not assume that the person seeing this knows you, remembers anything about you, or is in any way aware of your case, even if you just hung up from speaking with that person. Start off by saying that you are writing in a desperate attempt to get someone to fix a car that has been to the dealership X times already for an issue that, besides ruining your excellent experience with the C-MAX, renders 911 Assist disabled (a safety concern), and that, on this current stay, your MAX has been sitting at the dealership for X number of days without a final diagnosis and correction. Your dealership is trying to work with you, but you need someone from Ford to diagnose and correct this, once and for all. You want the equivalent of the District Manager or whatever the Engineer equivalent may be to get directly involved, even if that means visiting the dealership. Try to contact, after you send, to confirm delivery and to make a follow up date and time. Try to get the dealer to help you out by letting them know that you want to do this, and sending a copy to them so that you can try to continue to work through them for at least the purpose of communication to the upper level contacts. Keep the dealer on your team, and modify your strategy, if that will keep them on your side but get this done in a better or faster way. Go get 'em! :rtfm:

I find that 73 with fan speed 3 works pretty well. If I need to, fan speed 4 does the trick, but it will reduce the FE a bit more. -
Welcome aboard! I, too was going to get a Prius V, I thought. However, as soon as I saw the C-MAX commercial, I went to test one out. I loved it so much that I didn't even bother going to test the V. I never even sat in one until after my C-MAX was on order. You will be very happy with your C-MAX. You made a great choice! Enjoy! :shift:

Liftgate Update = Other Reprogram?
ScubaDadMiami replied to ScubaDadMiami's topic in General Discussion
:headscratch: The acceleration is not painfully slow. Sure, I can tap out of it, and I can easily kick in ICE, but the MAX will favor EV during acceleration to the equivalent of about a bar or more. Today, was thinking, "I wish I could video this." I just can't take a chance of driving and trying to do that. BTW, it won't favor this with a low SOC. However, it will with about a third of the battery, I think. Some of my statements could be off. This is a new thing, so I will need some more time to test in varying conditions before I can say more precisely IF something is really going on here. -
I couldn't have said it better. My only difference is that I live in the Sunshine State. So, I do have to sometimes close the cover during the summer. The Pano Roof sounded gimmicky, and it wasn't cheap. But, I was surprised at lots of things about it. For example, I feel like I get less driver fatigue. Maybe it's from feeling like I am closer to the outside world. Maybe the view of the outside world does something to make me feel better. I can't say exactly what it is, but there is a positive impact. I've had T-tops, sun roofs and convertibles. After a couple of weeks, the thrill wears off. I would open them perhaps two times per year, and then only on cool winter nights that we get in South Florida. You see, I am an air conditioner-aholic when I am not out in nature or under water. I really don't want or need something that opens; I just want something that feels like it's open without the fumes, heat, or wind-blowing-papers-and-stuff-from-inside-the-car. I can see outside, but through a nicely tinted ceiling panel that allows me to look, day or night. I plan on making long road trips. This will give me a great view along the way. Like I said, I am surprised at how big of a difference it makes. Over the years of car ownership, it amounts to very little extra cost. Saved gas money will pay for it. One last thing about the expense. With something as big as this, I didn't want to go with aftermarket, even if it would save some money. The last thing I want is to get into a contest with Ford, should there be a leak or something that ruins the car. I'd just rather have it done, and not worry about it. It would have to be a big difference before I would think about doing it aftermarket. Ford is on the hook, should anything about the roof go bad.

Question: I tried going with your two bar acceleration strategy. I found that two bar acceleration causes my FE numbers to go down, and one bar keeps improving my numbers. Why doesn't two bars work well for me? This would be for a 35 mph road, most of the time.

Ford is  . Big numbers just out. Maxes selling, pickups just reported tops, Lincoln right up there. Good for all of us! Let us know how your adventures in your new C-MAX go!
-
When I was waiting for mine, they pulled the vehicle for random testing. So, there was a time that it was built but not going to rail, and it took a while to find out that this was the status. You should hear soon. I think you will both have your new CMAXes in about two weeks. We can start the over/under from there!

I AM NOT going to adopt the new FE improvements
ScubaDadMiami replied to catsailor's topic in Fuel Mileage
I know that I will be awaiting your report. I hope that there will be AC FE improvement. I use AC all the time, all year long. I'll never get the truly big numbers of our record holders, but I would like to be able to get 50 mpg or so, consistently. I am starting to consider plans for my first big road trip, maybe to Western North Carolina mountains. If I go in September, I hope to have the upgrade done before departure. It would be great to hear about it from someone, before I make that upgrade and do all that driving. -
Using Console USB with cable to charge phone
ScubaDadMiami replied to pequeajim's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
It did not recognize my phone. I was not able to use USB for playing audio. I have no problem with Bluetooth streaming; I just wasn't able to get USB to recognize my phone. If your C-MAX's USB doesn't recognize your phone, I think that you would be better served by getting a cigarette lighter charger. I think that this will be faster for charging. -
Hmmm. I don't think that turning EV+ off removes the locations. However, I am not positive, and I have never tried it. I use EV+ often.

1 kick Power liftgate stories...
ScubaDadMiami replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Body Panels, Trim, etc.
The "kickgate" can seem gimmicky, but there are times that it is quite practical. My building has a parking garage. That means an elevator ride. I try to make each trip down to the car count as much as I can. If I have stuff to take down, chances are I am using an overloaded cart, and I am likely using both hands to keep things from falling. -
Niiiiiiiccee. You'll love the Pano! :hi5:

Agreed. -
BTW, I forgot to mention that I was complaining to the Synch Specialist about how those who paid for the upgraded system got penalized by not having the same degree of control of smartphones as those who didn't get the upgrade. He made it sound like that will be part of the update. I can only hope! :worship:

Liftgate Update = Other Reprogram?
ScubaDadMiami replied to ScubaDadMiami's topic in General Discussion
Right, but I didn't have 3.5.1 installed; my C-MAX came with it. So, that's why it seems so strange, since I only got the liftgate update.
