It would be great to hear from you on this. I got the color samples by mail. I expect to order in about three weeks or less, depending on when my CanvasBack Cargo Cover arrives.

Navigation tips anyone? (3.5.1)
ScubaDadMiami replied to GreenChicago's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Everything in Miami is divided into quadrants of either NE, SE, SW or NW. I say "Northwest." Sometimes, the system gets it right the first time, and sometimes, it will wind up with the list RaPieR mentioned. From that, I just say "line one," to select. Seems to get it right. -
I notice a big drop, right away, with Max. I also notice a big drop with anything below 73 for the temp. For me, it is all about fan speed.

I just want to keep having zero issues. Willing to do the little extra leg work, if that will assure it. On the other hand, I don't want to spend extra time and money that doesn't need to be spent. I've never been a "car" person before--though I guess you can see that the C-MAX has changed that. Just want to get it right. Thanks for the experience of those in the know. :salute:

I would perhaps consider a kit that I could take to someone for installation. Let's see what's out after the C-MAX is on the market for a while in North America.

Name one like and dislike with your C-Max?
ScubaDadMiami replied to armoredsaint's topic in General Discussion
Like: Too many to count. (If just one thing: Panoramic Roof.) Dislike: Dead pedal/footrest. -
Well, it's been a month since I purchased my C-MAX. During that time, I have put 1,000 miles on the car. This is more than I normally drive in a month, but I have been doing some test driving, learning how to drive the vehicle. Besides, I have been having fun driving the C-MAX, so I often look for excuses just to do some driving. :shift: Here are the issues that I have found since taking delivery. Clock: Holds proper time, so long as I do not synchronize with GPS. Synching with GPS will actually cause the time to get behind actual time.Liftgate: I have the update scheduled soon.Miscellaneous: I found what looks like a vacuum hose sticking out from under the edge of the driver's side rear seat, when the seat was folded down. I tucked it back under the seat, for now, and I will either tie wrap it into position, or I will see if Service can knock this out when I come in for the liftgate service. One potential false start after power wash; started right up on the second try. The more than time goes by, the more that I think that I probably didn't have the brake pedal depressed enough, or some equivalent. I power washed again without incident. So, I think that this is how the final ruling should come down on this.Synch Maintenance Screen: This has only happened after shut down. It has never happened while operating my C-MAX.I have not had any other issues. Fit and finish have been great. Not a noise from anywhere when I go over bumps on the road. On a personal note, my typical day outing scuba gear fit well in the cargo area with the rear seats folded down. I'll post pictures of this when I get my CanvasBack Cargo Area Cover installed. ETA on that is about two more weeks. Fuel economy continues to improve with experience. I am working on my second tank of fuel. I attach Trip and Lifetime stats today. I still have three complaints about the car: I still hate, hate, hate that dead pedal/footrest. Why didn't they just run the cable inside the console instead of taking up room from the driver's foot well? If it had to take up room from one of the foot wells, then I would prefer that it be in the passenger foot well, which for me is only sometimes occupied. I just hope that someone who is braver and more mechanically inclined than I will post about how he or she has created a mod that will provide more room, or somehow improve this big mistake of an idea. I am going to get seat covers, because I never wanted leather seats. There should be some package that includes the power seat (and all features should be both front seats) but without leather. I know that I am not the only one who has lodged this complaint.I want more control over my phone. People who pay extra for all of the upgrades should not be denied the Bluetooth control of their phones. I don't want to deny this to anyone that didn't get the upgrades; I just want to have the same control that they do.This last one isn't really a complaint, but more of a wish list item. I wish that Hybrid model users could have a cool smartphone app like the Energi users get to have. Adding features for security and the like would be great add-ons.Anyway, that's it from the Chronicles of C-MAX . . . for now.

If you can go at 67, perhaps this would be a good time to try ICE High Cruise Control. I haven't really had a chance to try this yet, but I look forward to giving it a try on my next tank full.

What I have sometimes done--and it actually works pretty well--is to use the fob to open the windows, as I approach the C-MAX. I start up, and I start pulling away with all four windows open. The wind will at least blast that hotter interior air out of the vehicle. Within just ten seconds or less, I close the front windows only, not the back. This lets the cool air coming out start to flow into the cabin while the back windows continue to let the last of the hotter air out. I close the back windows perhaps five seconds after closing the front. It is all a pretty quick thing designed just to get that hotter-than-outside air out. Meanwhile, I leave the air conditioning on recirculate 100 percent of the time. Leaving your air conditioning set to recirculate renders better fuel economy. If you are in a place that is hot, I see no sense in not doing this. I like the added benefit of keeping fumes from other cars out of the cabin. Of course, if you live in a place away from the city, this might not matter so much. If you use auto start, I am sure that this doesn't kill your fuel economy by much, unless you let the car sit there for a while. However, I have tried both methods, and I find that this is a good balance to getting the interior cool quickly while also not using fuel or battery. Well, you do use a little battery power to open the windows, but that is not nearly as much as starting and running the air conditioner.

Anyone who paid extra for all the bells and whistles does not have this option. :rant2: -
Would adding the belly pan, without doing anything else, do anything? I don't really want to change the look of the car, but there are some things that sound interesting.
-
With the liftgate open, I know that the exterior lights time out after a while. I can't recall if that also happens with the interior lights.

When I checked my mail today, I received a Welcome Kit from Ford. I am guessing that everyone has received this. Anyway, right in the booklet it says: "First maintenance visit -- 5,000 miles Rotate and inspect tiresSecond maintenance visit -- 10,000 miles Change engine oil and replace oil filterRotate and inspect tiresPerform Multi-Point Inspection"

This will be a great chance to hear about issues from long-term use, but we will hear about it well before most of us get even close to those miles. Welcome aboard, and thanks for your contribution that we all await! :)

Order to Delivery Time Thread
ScubaDadMiami replied to ScooterS's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
I am willing to bet that you can go register on the Ford Owners Web Site, using that VIN. If that works, then it sounds like someone at your dealer doesn't know what he or she is doing. If that's the case, it is probably best to just let it go. You want to keep them working with you to conclude your purchase. No point in throwing it in the dealer's face. -
I run the air conditioner 100 percent of the time, and I am still getting pretty good FE. I set the temperature to 73F, have recirculate turned on, and then I vary between three to four bars on the power scale. I do not use Auto, because that will turn off recirculate when the cabin reaches the set temperature. It is over 91F during the day, and I leave my car parked in the hot sun. So, it has some cooling down to do when I start my drive in at least one direction, daily. I have my windows tinted, and I have Oxford White for my exterior color. Oh, and I do close the shade for the panoramic glass while parked, but once the car has cooled enough, I open it to enjoy the light while driving. I enjoy having fantastic fuel economy, but I simply must use the air conditioner at all times, and I just won't give up using it to the point where I am cooled off enough to enjoy the drive.

I believe that you should say "one-zero-five-five," not "ten-55." -
Notice that ViennaCoup made it on only three tanks (or maybe even two, if you reported on Fuelly before your post). So, this can be done, and can be done well before break-in. Welcome to the club!

I have sinned...vent bezel reflection issues
ScubaDadMiami replied to armoredsaint's topic in General Discussion
My dealer did the tinting before purchase. So, I don't know which they used. I suspect that it is 3M, but I don't know enough to tell. I deal with sun that is pretty relentless, and I haven't noticed anything with glare reflections. I have not doubt that others are having an issue. I just can't account for it not being an issue for me. Maybe it has something to do with the position of the driver's head relative to the glare, such as taller, seat more forward or back, and the like. -
Auto-Dimming Mirror adjustment?
ScubaDadMiami replied to Gandor's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
I added the tint, from day one. Come to think of it, I have never noticed the mirror changing. I haven't had issues with lights from behind. I really haven't done enough night driving to notice. So, it could just be that. -
Navigation tips anyone? (3.5.1)
ScubaDadMiami replied to GreenChicago's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
I also only use voice for NAV. I had a friend riding with me that had a significant Spanish accent, and when she tried to state the address, that is about the only time I have seen a mistake by NAV. Sure, I have had some hiccups where it picks a wrong address, but that quickly gets corrected with voice prompts, too.
