  1. Today, when I pulled away from a parking spot where I usually park, I had more battery charge than usual. So, I was able to go about a block and a half in EV. Instead of putting the windows up as soon as the first breeze came through, I left them down. The noise stopped within about 30 seconds or maybe less, though it could be that increased speed, other traffic noise, etc. made it seem to go away sooner. One other thing to consider. I got my C-MAX with 113 miles on it already. My dealer informed me (weeks prior) that my C-MAX had been pulled for in-depth testing before shipping. I am going to imagine that Ford would have heard the noise when they performed this testing, and that they would have done something about it then, if it were a problem. So, I am not going to worry about it anymore. Besides, I got the 125,000 mile extended warranty. If the A/C fails, I will have a clean conscience about the issue. I have my liftgate update scheduled for July. I'll bring it up with my service advisor, just to let the SA know everything I know, and to see what the dealership says by then. By that time, maybe dealers will have been given enough guidance from Ford about what, if anything, to do about the noise. My C-MAX is running up to expectations. So, I am not too worried about the noise that I only hear with windows open, during the first minute of my startup.
  2. It seems that Ford is almost treating the C-MAX like a niche vehicle. Their ad campaign is strange. The cartoon ads don't portray the C-MAX in a way that would draw anyone other than people looking for great fuel economy. Many dealers don't know much about them.
  3. Since you are already used to Android, it will likely be easier to stick with that format rather than having to deal with the learning curve of a new OS. I have the Galaxy Note II, which is a little bigger than the Galaxy S4, and is great on my 50+ eyes. Search for my ProClip photos to show how it can be mounted on the console. With the Sprint Simply Everything plan, with taxes and all, I am paying $117 per month with unlimited everything. The only limit I put on the plan was to make it 400 or 450 minutes per month to call land lines. For $133, you can have unlimited everything, even land lines. I hate worrying about minutes, and tracking to make sure I don't go over. Anytime I have ever tried to cut my bill by reducing minutes, I end out going over the limit just once, and it makes it more expensive for the year than if I had just gone with the unlimited plan, worry free.
  4. ProClip photo is the mounting base, before install of the phone attachment. ProClip1 and ProClip3 show after the phone attachment install. You can see the wire going between the seat and the console. The next step will be to tack the wire down better, and I may paint the wire to match the console color.
  5. ProClip comes in a number of configurations. So long as you are using the mounting for your particular phone (not one of the universal models), there is a version includes the connector for power in the base. When you slide the phone in, it connects. No dealing with the separate cord. I'll take the pic tonight. Of course, it will only have the base; I'll be using the phone to take the pic.
  6. Mine did it last night. I had just used Nav to drop my friend off. The screen was showing arrival at the destination. I shut down while watching to make sure that my friend got inside safely, and then started up again for the return trip home. I had been shut down perhaps a minute, surely less than two minutes. Just as I started up, the screen did the same thing shown above. I have only noticed it once before. The last time, it did it just after I shut down. I have never had it happen while actually driving, only when I start or just after shut down.
  7. Look for the thread that says, "I HAVE FOUND THE ILLUSIVE MPG SWEET SPOT!" Forget the leaves. Set your left driver screen to Empower. When ICE is on, try not to accelerate past the first bar, or go no higher than the second, if traffic is pushing you to speed up faster. After that, try to maximize how long the EV is going by keeping the EV bar lit for as long as you can. This is known as pulse and glide, where you maximize the glide phase.
  8. TxTom, many of us have this same issue with the noise. If they end out replacing the part, and that eliminates the noise, please let us know. This noise has already been cited a number of times by many people. So, if they tell you that Ford told them to replace it, there are a lot of us that want to know about this ASAP.
  9. Welcome aboard, neighbor! :) I'm in Miami Beach. Where are you in Florida?
  10. I've had ICE come on when stopped in traffic. (Did I mention how bad the traffic is in Miami?) So, I figured that it would turn on and off while going through the carwash. My recollection is that, by the time I waited in the line of the carwash, and finally got on the track, the battery was already on the lower end of the spectrum.
  11. I find the wipers to work extremely well, likely the best of any car I've ever had. About the only less than perfect thing is that there is a part of the window, on the passenger side, that doesn't really get touched. On the other hand, the track on the driver's side is excellent. No streaks on my window.
  12. Today was a banner day. Not only did I break the 600+ range barrier on the very first tank, but I also hit my all time high for Trip MPG of 58.4. With just over 730 miles, the break-in continues to go well.
  13. Right out of the gate, first tank ever on my new C-MAX, and I easily crossed the 600+ Range! :yahoo: Unfortunately, being a Noobie, I somehow accidentally reset my trip information that would have made the proof easier to show, but I submit the following proof: Photo 1A and 1B show my extended tire warranty paperwork, reflecting that the C-MAX had 113 miles on it at time of delivery, on May 27.Photo 2 is the receipt for the first fill up after leaving the dealership. According to MapQuest, this gas station is 5.08 miles from Al Packer Ford, which would put the start at just over 118 miles on the odometer. To be conservative, I'll call that 119 miles on the C-MAX at first fill up. Per the above, to qualify as a 600 mile range tank, the odometer would need to show 719 total vehicle miles at time of fill up.Photo 3 shows 727 miles on the odometer, with a hint of yellow (not a great camera angle, I know) still above the "E" on the tank indicator. At that time, the remaining Range showed 35 miles. This was my first and only tank. Has anyone--perhaps anyone with an SEL--made it on the first tank?
  14. As it is pretty much known, a lot of the issues that C-MAX owners are having pertain to the build date, updates, and often the model and options. Therefore, it would be a big help for you to state this information in your profile, signature, or in your post. If you haven't done so already, thanks for getting around to it when you can. Thanks.
  15. My thinking was that I would have to ramp up to speed after leaving the carwash, anyway. So, the ICE would only have to run once, compared to possibly starting and stopping several times during however many minutes it would take to leave the carwash.
  16. I wonder how many of us have to say that we want the power seat without the leather before Ford will do something about this. I wanted a loaded SEL without leather. I am going to likely get seat covers to put on top of the seats. You'd be surprised at how great it is to have all the little nice add-ons. I am very glad that I opted for them. I am really glad about the glass roof. It makes the big interior seem even bigger. Things like the parking sensors and auto park are really great. I've never had a problem parallel parking, but the C-MAX has a bigger turning radius, and having this option has been a bonus.
  17. Yes, it is definitely not from the sensors. It is a completely different pitch and, if I recall, volume.
  18. Did the install yesterday. Looks just like yours, except they ran the cord between the seat the and console, so the cord is more hidden. They snaked the cord inside of the console, and they put the power pack in their, too. So, the wiring is pretty clean. I'll take a shot of it tomorrow, when I go out. I elected to go with the standard installation, where the power is only on when I have the C-MAX power on.
  19. I was walking Slowpoke when I spotted this C-MAX. I walked up and spoke to the drivers. They rented from Hertz at Miami International Airport. So, now both Budget and Hertz have rental C-MAXes in Miami. This was an SEL, and they said that they rented it for the entire month. They said that they love it, but they didn't know anything about it, which makes sense, given that they are likely from Argentina (per their accent when I spoke to them in Spanish), and they are just visiting Miami. It was a little painful to look inside. They had the A/C set on low, blasting out cold air, and they left the motor running while we talked, and while the valet was unloading their groceries. They pretty much don't realize what they have in their hands.
  20. A little addition, not worthy of its own separate thread: I finally went through a real car wash (track pushing wheels). In this carwash, I am able to sit inside while going through the wash. I removed the antennae beforehand, and I shut off the auto wipers. To keep from losing my FE, I shut down once the C-MAX was on the track and moving. I turned on Accessory Mode (start button without stepping on gas pedal), and I was still able to get good reception, good enough to still listen to Sirius and FM while going through the wash. Meanwhile, my phone had only three bars showing out of five, for reception signal. I was a little nervous about having to hit the break to start and pull out of the wash, once I got to the end of the line. First, given what happened with the wash using the wand, I was picturing the carwash having to stop (making a rather big ordeal) due to a startup failure. I was also worried about having to hit the brake pedal for startup, with the track pushing the wheels. Luckily, everything worked out just fine. The C-MAX started right up, and the momentary tap of the brake for startup was no issue. I tried to time tapping the pedal for when the car had moved forward on its own enough to have a pause before the track would catch up to the wheels. Besides, I would imagine that a quick, light tap of the brakes wouldn't make an issue, even if the track were still pushing the wheels. Anyway, all's well in the Chronicles of C-MAX, and the adventure continues.
  21. It has only happened perhaps one time per week. It is a tone that does not sound like other tones; totally different pitch (much higher than other tones), etc. I think that it has only happened when I am the sound system is on. I think, from what I recall, that it was while listening to an FM station in HD. It could be that it would happen on any frequency, and maybe even Sirius. I don't know, because I mostly listen to NPR if I am not streaming via Bluetooth. I don't think that I have heard it while streaming. No icons light up, and no apparent issues with anything. I suspect that it is just something dealing with the signal compression/conversion, etc. Has anybody experienced this?
