  1. Sounds like a question to save for the Ford meeting. I hope that someone is making a list. ;)
  2. I was paying for car rentals during the eight week wait. So, it could certainly be worse.
  3. We are all on the same team for FE and the environment. I prefer my C-MAX, but I don't down anyone who is doing his/her part.
  4. The A/C issue really depends on how you set it. We have had plenty of 90+F days here, in the three weeks that I have had my C-MAX. I am still averaging above 46MPG, with mostly city driving. I keep the A/C set to 73F, recirculate, and I do not use the Auto setting. (The manual says that, on the Auto setting, once the A/C reaches the set temperature, it will turn off recirculate. Cooling outside air requires more power to keep the interior cool than using the already cooled air that is in the cabin.) I will start off with the fan on speed number 4, and then I drop it to number 3, once it feels cool enough. The other day, when reaching for something or other, I managed to accidentally hit the temperature adjustment knob, lowering the set temperature to 71F. I didn't notice until I was almost home from my usual route. The day before, I had gotten above 54+MPG on this route, with the temperature set to 73. At 71, I was only getting about 45. So, there seems to be a perfect balance point where you will stay cool with good FE, and a big drop off in FE if you go below that. I consider myself an air conditioner-aholic, but 73 seems to keep me comfortable in the C-MAX. BTW, I leave my car out in the sun during the peak heat of the day. The only things I have done to help with the heat are: selection of Oxford White for the exterior, light color for the seats, window tinting, and I close the shade on the panoramic roof while parked. When I approach my car, I use the fob to open the windows. (I had also used auto start with cooling, but I really don't find it so necessary.) As I pull away, I close the front windows, and then I close the back once the first breeze flushes out the hottest air from inside the cabin.
  5. It could be a reboot, and that was my original thought. Assuming that the system is getting the "update" through the cellphone, it happened in my building's parking garage, where I get no signal for my cell phone. Of course, it could be that the system receives the update while driving in an area with good reception, and then it doesn't load until shutdown. This doesn't make sense to me, given that we are normally supposed to go through a routine to download to a thumb drive for installation. On the other hand, the system worked well before the "update," and it didn't happen while I was driving. So, it does seem like it wasn't a crash of the system.
  6. I ordered a ProClip for my cellphone. It is the version that mounts on the passenger side of the console. Up to now, I have been using a temporary connection via a charge cord that I plug into the connection inside of the arm rest. I am not going to do the installation of the wiring harness. I would rather take it to someplace for a professional installation. If this were a regular car, I wouldn't worry about trusting the installers to know where to elect to make the connection. However, this is not a regular car! My goal is to make the connection always hot/on. I do not want the charge of the phone to stop when I shut down the C-MAX. So, where are the connection points that would work the best, and make the exposure of the charging harness show the least? Here is a picture of where the base will be mounted.
  7. Let us know every step. We're all waiting with you!
  8. I am surprised that more people aren't complaining about the poor sound quality of Sirius. I had it on a prior car, and the sound was fantastic. To me, Sirius now sounds like it is being played in a giant tin can cave. I can't see how it is the sound system in the C-MAX that is the problem. (I did opt for the upgraded sound system, BTW.) Bluetooth sounds great. FM radio sounds great. Speaking of FM, I ran a test today, and it confirmed the difference in sound quality between the same show being broadcast over FM and on Sirius. NPR's Marketplace plays on FM at 6PM here, and the Sirius broadcast of the show is at 6:30. I listened to FM, and then I switched over to Sirius, and I listened again to the same show. Night and day difference in sound quality. What gives?
  9. Yes, but now you have Ford witnesses. Something will happen. You are a step closer.
  10. To me, it is almost like the sound that cards make when kids use clothes pins to make their bicycle spokes sound like motorcycles, just louder, faster, and more grating. Yes, sort of like a weed whacker. Starts off slowly, and ramps up over about the next three seconds.
  11. I have only had one voice recognition issue, where Maxie asked me if I wanted Temperature of 70 degrees, when I asked for 73. She immediately got it right when I said no to the confirmation, and repeated 73. That is only once in three weeks.
  12. Mine makes the same noise. I only hear it with windows open.
  13. So, there I am, sitting in a long line of cars at a red light during rush hour traffic (still got 54.4MPG on the trip! :) ). A guy is trying to sell flowers to people stopped at the light. The guy comes walking between my lane and the car to my left: BEEP . . . BEEP . . . BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEP. The front sensors picked up a signal from the guy being so close to the C-MAX. (This was a solitary figure walking down the lane.) Now, isn't that something! :shift: I hope that you all have been enjoying the Chronicles of C-MAX. Have a great day!
  14. First, I got the same 200 mile message. I didn't know that it also includes 200 miles after service, apparently. Second, I was having problems running the report after clearly going past 200 miles. My guess--and it was also pointed out to me in the post--was that I didn't have a good phone signal where I attempted to run the reports. Once I waited for an area with good reception, the report ran without issue. It took three tries--two with poor signal--before it worked, but it did work on that third try. You did register for Synch Services online, right?
  15. I finally remembered to put mine there today. That will be quite handy. :)
  16. My best trip. 54.4MPG. Less than 600 miles on the new C-MAX.
  17. A couple of times during the last week, or a little less than that, my phone connected, as always. However, I noticed that I would see a message about the phone connecting, after it was already connected and operational. So, to make the message disappear, I would turn off Bluetooth, turn it back on, and then the phone would connect without the message. Yesterday, it did the same thing. I was just going to wait to bring it up at my next scheduled service (liftgate update). However, when I shut down my C-MAX last night, the main screen flashed a Synch icon, and then it started showing a message that Synch was updating. There was a progress bar below. The update appeared to finish, and then the screen shut down, as expected. Has anyone else seen Synch updating? I thought that this was the type of thing that required a USB thumb drive to do the job. :headscratch:
  18. I want some reports of the attachment adhesive lasting through car washes, and for some time, before I decide to go with it. I like how it looks, and it could improve FE a little. Just want to make sure that it will last.
  19. I went with this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0001XPC7C/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1. It fits on the little shelf inside the console.
  20. Sometimes, it seems like every traffic issue possible is conspiring against my MPGs. Long flat stretch ahead? Give a little pulse and glide . . . , except that jerk pulls out from a driveway, making you hit the breaks (giving the extra added bonus of ruining your perfect breaking score). By the time you get back up to speed on ICE, here comes a hill. No EV for you! (In voice of the Soup Nazi--a Seinfeld reference). Okay, we're up and over the hill, ready to head down the other side with some Regen bonus . . . , but not today! No glide. Everyone is backed up for the traffic light. By the time the traffic lets up, you got nothing from it! Oh, and then that guy in the gas guzzler is riding your bumper. So, if you had hopes of making a nice, slow pickup to speed, FAGGETTABOUTIT! Watch the MPG drop as the ICE moves all the way up past the second bar. You're finally back up to speed, and hoping to gain back some of your MPGs on the stretch to the next stop coming up. Just as you are about to maximize your Regen on the approach to the stop, someone changes lanes, zooms in front of you, slams on the breaks, and you end up with both the loss of all that Regen, and like a 54 Brake Score! Should I go on? Does this sound familiar to anyone? :rant2: It's like the streets have become an obstacle course! :sos:
