Lemon Law & Buy Back Info and Experience
lowbar replied to salman's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
I don't know what issues others are experiencing but my C-Max has been a great car. A buy back is the farthest thing from my mind. -
I also used Anderson & Koch (see above) for pricing and was willing to buy from them. I took their quote, which is half of what my dealer originally quoted, to my dealer and they matched it. I got the 7 yr, 100k mile warranty with $200 deductible and no rental for $955.

From Engadget.com The tech inside green vehicles continues to improve, and Ford has just announced a concept that looks to push it even further. The US automaker has outed the C-MAX Solar Energi Concept: a vehicle that packs in all of the perks of a plug-in hybrid, but doesn't require that tether to recharge. As the name suggests, a roof-mounted solar panel collects a day's worth of energy needed to churn out the same performance as the C-MAX Energi Hybrid; however, the new Solar Energi model seeks to do so without relying on the ol' power grid. The panel itself houses "a special solar concentrator lens" that acts like a magnifying glass, directing those requisite rays on the rooftop. After rolling around the lot of the LVCC at CES next week, the concept vehicle will be tested by researchers from Ford and Georgia Tech -- who helped develop the panel system -- to see if the C-MAX Solar Energi is indeed viable for production. For now, we'll have to wait to grab a closer look in a few days.

Welcome to the Atlanta C-Max family.
-
It is earmarked for a 7 year / 100k mile extended warranty for the car. Should cover over half of it.

Check received yesterday in Georgia. Car bought 3/13.

Turn off rear tail gate kick function

Pull the liftgate fuse F1. The fuse panel is located in the luggage compartment behind the left side wheel well. Remove the fuse panel cover to gain access to the fuses. -
Cracked intake manifold the day after service. Coincidence? Who knows. 3 weeks to get a part is not good. I've been thinking about extended warranties. With this being a 1st year car with lots of new technology I'm thinking about going for the 7 year / 100k mile Ford warranty with a $200. deductible. The cost is $955 and if I apply the $550 from the mileage fiasco it gets pretty cheap. Just a thought. andersonandkoch-ford-warranty.com

Interesting article on foxnews.com a couple of days ago about a universal spare tire a tow truck might carry and anyone could use. It apparently it is an idea in the UK. How knows it could come here. http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2013/09/03/universal-spare-tire-works-on-nearly-every-car/

Countdown to cutie75 and salsaguy's Cmax...
lowbar replied to salsaguy's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
It's about time Salsaguy. :) You'll have over a 1,000 post by the time you have your car. Good luck with it. -
I have both the rear camera and foot activated power liftgate. Well worth the added cost.

I'm sticking with the semi-synthetic which it came with and changing it every 5k.

I had Ruby in the shop yesterday for the headliner recall, FE update, tailgate update and The Works (oil change and tire rotations). Took the car in first thing in the morning and picked it up that afternoon. I updated MFT to 3.6 myself the day before. No noticeable difference in the headliner. The tailgate is definitely better and EV kicks in above 65mph. Today is my long commute day, 43 miles one way, mostly interstate. I got 49.5 mpg which is about 2.5 better than my previous best.

The voice recognition in the 2013 C-Max with MFT is much better than in my 2012 Fusion with just Sync. I get frustrated when I don't know or remember the correct commands so I printed out a cheat sheet and leave it in the armrest console. When you use the correct commands it works well.

Downloaded software and performed update without issue. Radio presets intact, I did have to resync the phone.

Welcome Bob. Laurel will be happy to hear we have another Canadian on board.

Thanks for the notice. A couple of interesting pieces of information here beyond the update itself. Ford is extending the SYNC/MFT warranty from 3 to 5 years unlimited mileage. It also states dealers will assist owners with the installtion implying we may be able to do it ourselves. Adair, v3.6 will not be the FE improvements. SYNC/MFT is an Infotainment system.

New FSA Notice 13C02 - HEADLINER HEAD IMPACT PROTECTION
lowbar replied to ceemax71's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
Interesting, Not good that dealers can't delliver cars but it sounds like parts should be available in a couple of weeks. I'm not too concerned about safety. May not conform to the standard could very well mean it is a fraction less than called for in the standdard. Ironic when you think there is no protection in the models WITH the Panorama Roof? -
New FSA Notice 13C02 - HEADLINER HEAD IMPACT PROTECTION

Yep, see it on the ETIS site. -
Laurel has it. Voice commands are pretty neat. I recently printed out a cheat sheet and leave it in the center console. There is a lot you can do with voice commands.

erwhitham, what cruise line were you on? I've been thinking about an anniversary Scandinavian cruise on Princess.

Automobile service departments are going through a huge change in skills requirements with the new car technology. Many of the old school mechanics can't handle all the electronics. The new school automotive technician needs to be more of a computer tech.
