  1. I recommend not clicking on that "world knowledge" link from the second post. The link is from viglink (dot) com which seems to have a bad reputation. https://www.2-spyware.com/remove-viglink.html Added later - viglink may be some revenue thing for fordcmaxhybridforum. The "world knowledge" seems to be a link to something about UFOs.
  2. The 2016 should be a very good car. There were transmission problem but they were worked out by 2016. I got an extended warranty but have not used it. But I am glad I got it - ease of mind. I got mine over the internet and saved money http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/2330-purchase-an-extended-warranty/?p=23323 https://www.google.com/search?safe=off&ei=Dt8-W8BNgZn9BvTWgNAD&q=fordcmaxhybridforum.com+extended+warranty+koch&oq=fordcmaxhybridforum.com+extended+warranty+koch&gs_l=psy-ab.3..33i160k1l2.2333.4724.0.5317.5.5.0.0.0.0.165.646.0j5.5.0....0...1.1.64.psy-ab..0.5.644....0.tqEP0XZRevk I would recommend running the tire pressure on the high side to help with tire wear and mileage.
  3. It is 4 wheel drive(AWD). All Subarus but the Subaru BRX are AWD. Interesting how much lower the manual trans with regular gasoline compared to the automatic with premium gas with the EPA numbers (those as I read more I see the engine displacement is actually bigger.) Vehicle EPA Fuel Economy 28 MPG 26 32 combined city/hwy city hwy 3.6 gal/100 mi 2018 Subaru Forester AWD 2.0 L, 4 cyl, Automatic (AV-S8), Turbo, Premium Gasoline 25 MPG 23 27 combined city/hwy city hwy 4 gal/100 mi 2018 Subaru Forester AWD 2.5 L, 4 cyl, Manual 6-spd, Regular Gasoline On the bigger turbo engine premium is recommended but regular can be used (according to the manual) with a hit on performance and MPGs.
  4. I also have gotten the cloud of smoke. It was sudden 1.75 bar to 3.25 bar accelerating to make it through a light that was soon to be turning red. The car had been in use for about 15 minutes. I am not worried about it. The car accelerated nicely. The quickness of the change from 1,75 to 3,25 bar may have something to do with it. My sense is often it is better for gas mileage to add some speed to get through a traffic light rather than stopping.
  5. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3251-training-the-tpms-system-tire-pressure-monitoring-system/ Maybe this thread ?
  6. A lot of people with 2013s have needed to replace batteries. I will probably replace mine before the winter. I carry one of those small jumpers in the call. They work well for me. There is not a way to start it without jumping it like pushing a stick shift and popping the clutch. Google "fordcmaxhybridforum.com spare tire" lot of discussion from people that have obtained a spare for the C-Max Just a thought, does the washer fluid need to be filled ? I don't recall much discussion about windshield washer weakness.
  7. I have mentioned searching with google mostly because my experience is searching with the search on this website doesn't work well for me. Searching for "windows down" using the search at the top of the page selecting "forum" does not get me the results I posted. If I were coming to this site of for the first time I would assume the search here is similar or better than a google search. I wasn't at all trying to imply you should have searched better. Again Welcome.
  8. Welcome Bosonob. I have had that problem. I ended up putting sticky felt pads on the key to protect accidental pressing of the unlock button which if held for a few seconds lowers all windows. I have found google is a great way to find stuff on this forum. I googled "fordcmaxhybridforum.com windows down" https://www.google.com/search?q=fordcmaxhybridforum.com+windows+down&oq=fordcmaxhybridforum.com+windows+down&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i60l2.1098j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 and got this as the first result http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/503-windows-rolled-themselves-today/
  9. Welcome Pab. I googled on "fordcmaxhybridforum.com fuse tap" and this was the first choice http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/5883-accessory-power-tap-fuse/ Look like it is worth reading.
  10. That's great driving. However, I am wondering if the 2018's have some improvements built in.
  11. This web page pretty much asserts what you said. http://www.motorweek.org/features/goss_garage/clearing_up_cloudy_headlights

When using the AC I think it saves quite a bit of fuel to put the AC in recirculate mode. (rather than bringing hot air from outside to cool off.)
  13. How's the Ioniq compared to the C-Max ?

Many of the 2013s have a greater risk of transmission failure. There was a transmission design change in late 2013 to the bearings. https://www.google.com/search?safe=off&ei=IUIYW8ruF8S3zwKS_7GIBw&q=fordcmaxhybridforum.com+transmission+fail&oq=fordcmaxhybridforum.com+transmission+fail&gs_l=psy-ab.3..33i160k1l3.6340.7972.0.9117.7.7.0.0.0.0.218.632.2-3.3.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..4.3.631....0.nsuBwBEM5DQ The failures so far have been mostly fixed with the extended hybrid warranty.

  16. When I had AAA auto service I had a rental car and locked my one set of keys in the trunk. Called them up and they were able to get in. This was about 17 years ago. Not really useful here but it did come into my thinking: Though it is a while ago I recall in a urban area the person I was with locked keys in car. A person walking on the street offered to open the car up for free, happened to have break in tools. Gave him $5. Though it was long enough ago that cars probably were easier to break into.
  17. Using the tire calculator link, the 215/60R16 have a diameter of 26.2 inches which is 1.2% bigger than the OEM 25.9. The 205/60R16 have a diameter of 25.7 inches, 0.8% less big. Also, I assume you determined the 6Jx16 ET42 mags have the same bolt patterns and are compatible with the C-Max.
  18. Here is a Tire Size Calculator https://tiresize.com/calculator/ From my playing around, 205 60 16, 225 55 16 have a diameter of 25.7 vs the OEM 25,9 My sense is to get a softer ride you need to increase the 50 to like 60, but you give up traction and perhaps gas mileage. Here is a google search on this site for "tire size" to get a similar diameter. If you ever want to put snow cables on, you don't want to increase the diameter. https://www.google.com/search?q=fordcmaxhybridforum.com+wheel+size&oq=fordcmaxhybridforum.com+wheel+size&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i65.10768j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 There might be good information in these threads to get the right size wheel. It also may be that you just need new tires. These OEM tires do get noisy from the cupping on the rear tires. I just replaced two of my tires with 225/50R17 General Altimax RT43 Tire 98 V recommended by Plus2Golfer and things really quieted in the rear. Welcome. Lots of good info on this site.
  19. http://cmaxchat.com/?p=2102 Perhaps a previous owner added one, like I did.
  20. Whoa. Post has been deleted. That was a quick sale? I am curious if you bought another car and which one ?
  21. Pre-escape hybrid article (2004) "Under the agreement announced yesterday, Toyota will license to Ford a patented hybrid control system that links a gasoline engine with an electric motor. The companies refused to disclose the terms of the licensing agreement or how much Ford would pay in royalties. In addition, the companies agreed to license to each other emission reduction technologies that each has developed." https://www.nytimes.com/2004/03/10/business/ford-to-use-toyota-s-hybrid-technology.html 2009 articles "Toyota's patent-filing strategy has made it far too risky to copy the Prius without Toyota's blessing," https://www.wsj.com/articles/SB124640553503576637 Slashdot points us to a WSJ story about how Toyota has purposely built up a patent thicket so thick that basically no one can build hybrid vehicles without paying up: https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20090708/0055045483.shtml 2007 judgment against toyota (even Toyota pays) "In Paice LLC v. Toyota Motor Corp., 2007 WL 3024994 (Fed. Cir. 2007), after a finding of infringement and damages of $25 per use of infringing drive trains for hybrid motors," http://www.ipinfoblog.com/archives/intellectual-property-does-the-future-of-patent-law-portend-compulsory-licensing-by-judicial-fiat.html
  22. They also may still be licensing some technology from before. https://www.nytimes.com/2004/03/10/business/ford-to-use-toyota-s-hybrid-technology.html
  23. FYI there is a problem TSB about the bumpers getting out of adjustment. Perhaps it is related. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/733-rear-lift-gate-latch/page-2?do=findComment&comment=68538
  24. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/6669-how-to-quick-and-easy-reversible-anc-delete/ This a is message about disabling noise cancellation. It has good pictures to access the front fuse box which is underneath the glove compartment accessed above where the front seat passenger puts their feet. By the way, this is also where the cabin air filter is accessed. I have replaced a fuse myself. It should be very possible without dealer help. I did not have a fuse puller and as I recall I used needle nose pliers. I vaguely remember the clips just pull off and push on, but if that is not the case then they turn. There is more fuse information in the manual which I find useful to use the digital version which is on the web that allows for easy search. Here's the 2013 manual. http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/catalog/owner_guides/13cmhom3e.pdf I just used it to make sure the fuses you were searching for were the ones I linked to. There is another panel of fuses in the back of the car.
