  1. If memory serves from older threads, there are two remote start systems; factory or dealer installed but they use different receivers and antennas so my guess is the answer is no. For my Energi, I typically use the web or phone app as it's more convenient with no distance limitation and I can set times.
  2. Scott, low rooflines help tremendously with aerodynamics. Just ask us CMax owners about hwy mileage. <rimshot>
  3. I managed to pop the liftgate while pressure washing the car this weekend. Does that count? :)
  4. How ironic as there are several multi-page threads about getting DRL's activated, aftermarket units added, etc.
  5. Sorry, I forget that the SE model has a key. The SEL and Energi's don't use keys and have push button start. Here's a great video on the displays:
  6. You most likely had a false start which typically happens by going through the start up process a little too quickly and not leaving your foot on the brake long enough or pushing down far enough. Next time this happens, look and see if the green car with arrows is lit up. Most likely it won't be and you're in accessory mode. IOW, push the brake first before touching the start button. Yes there is a temperature gauge. It can be selected in the left hand display in the "My View" screen. Cursor right till you get to the options and click through the numerous options. There's even a tachometer. Cool stuff.
  7. Yeah, I'm an average 5'10" but sit with the drivers seat raised to the max for a higher driving position. Even so, I can rest the heel (?) of my hand on the top of head and point my fingers straight up and barely touch the roof!
  8. Family of four loaded to the hilt plus a cargo carrier for a week long camping trip: Interstate I-10 through west Texas where 80+mph, 100F, and strong winds are the norm in the summer:
  9. Yes, I see this on a local basis. We have two ways to get across town to major shopping points. My wife's preferred route is commonly called "the back way" along the outskirts of town while my route is through town. Hers' is longer and higher speeds while mine is shorter and lower speeds. My route delivers much better mpg's. They both start and end at the same intersection/traffic lights so I've come to watch cars taking the back route and about 6 times out of 10 we arrive at the other intersection at the same time. The other 4 times is a toss up as to who gets there first.
  10. Yes "conventional" is a little misleading but newer, higher CAFE standards mean there will be fewer and fewer conventional ICE vehicles every year. Given the market's current path, I don't think the hybrid market will grow much more* due to the encroachment of better "conventional" ICE vehicles (start/stop, 40+hwy, etc) on one side attracting "conventional" customers and PHEV/BEV's with their MUCH higher fuel economy on the other side attracting the "green crowd". *Unless gas prices explode due to a Saudi Arabia vs ISIS (possibly secretly supported by Russia) war or similar scenario.
  11. Maybe this or other versions will be plug and play with the CMax in the not to distance future:
  12. On a side note for Texans: "The State of Texas will stop issuing inspection stickers and transition to a “Two Steps, One Sticker” vehicle inspection and registration program. Beginning March 1, 2015, vehicles will no longer be issued an inspection sticker. Your registration sticker will serve as a combined proof of registration and inspection." http://txdmv.gov/motorists/register-your-vehicle/two-steps-one-sticker
  13. Agreed, buy the car you want. Dealer parts and labor prices are WAY more than factory prices. Typically, the dealer can only install the low hanging fruit (plug and play accessories or cosmetics)
  14. My View (choices frequently change) plus a ScanGauge II (choices frequently change).
  15. I describe my wife as a digital driver: gas and brake pedals are either on or off. She views speed limits as the minimum speed one should drive! :shift: We drive identical cars over many of the same routes and I can use the MyFordMobile service available to Energi owners to compare our data. She has consistently lower fuel economy. On routes that I can make on 100% EV, she burns gas, etc. I suspect you just caught your wife "having a good day". LOL
  16. Back when I got my 894 mile tank, it mainly consisted of my daily commute route but I did do a couple of "long runs" at the end to finish the tank off on the weekend. On those runs, I was getting around 75mpg keeping speeds below 45mph and that was without any aero mods. So, a 1,000 mile tank is certainly achievable but it would mean several dedicated day long drives; preferably in warmer weather without a/c.
  17. CONGRATS! :happy feet: Welcome to the club. We, too, had mini-vans while the kids were young and yes they have their place in this world. I wish we had access to the Grand CMax offered in Europe; slightly bigger than the CMax but with sliding rear doors. Unfortunately it isn't offered in an hybrid or energi version. Any questions, ask away.
  18. You don't have to worry about Energies sneaking in as they would be rather obvious. I went 5,000+ miles on the dealers "free" tank of gas. That wasn't easy for me. Just like all the entries here, I had to work hard at it.
  19. As has been noted, there's a loophole where the manufacturer can use the same mpg results for a specific drivetrain when used in other, different model lines. When shopping for a pickup truck a few years ago, I've also found this same loophole used by Toyota but within the same model. The same EPA rating was listed for all the tacoma models using the base 4cyl/5spd drivetrain; whether it was the tiny two door, the bigger extra cab or the substantially heavier and longer 4 door model.
  20. I've got an idea: take the bed apart, load it back into the car, and take a picture!  What?
  21. Maybe one of the update campaigns activates that behavior because my un-updated unit doesn't. Mine only honks if you exit and shut the door but nothing when you return regardless if the door was shut or left ajar.
  22. Based on personal experience with a used hybrid, it's when you hear the pump too often you have a problem.
  23. Ahh, OK. Diagnosing sound issues over the internet is nearly impossible. Like stevedebi said, you've got working brakes and no CEL's so I'm not sure what, if anything, is wrong. I've pretty much tuned mine out so I'm not sure if mine has changed in pitch and/or levels over time. Do they get quieter with break in? I don't think so. These electric brake pumps can go bad over time so it's highly unusual to have an issue so early on. Since it could be a safety issue, please take it in if you are unsure and let us know the results.
