What the frack? It's cracked.
fotomoto replied to fotomoto's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
Update: Thanks to a top rate service advisor at my local dealership and our own Ashley :worship: that little side window glass in our CMax has been replace via warranty!!! :happy feet:  Took about a week for the glass to arrive and get installed plus a couple of service campaigns got taken care of during the wait. BTW, I checked with my local independent glass company and they confirmed there are no aftermarket companies making that item; only Ford. FYI. -

Anyone use a 128GB USB drive in their C-Max?
fotomoto replied to Kelleytoons's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
I have a pathetically small by comparison 32GB drive that's no where near full and it works with no issues. I use it on longer drives when streaming bluetooth would use up a lot of battery. -
Oh yeah, I forgot about that place. I'm still a member there under my old "CMaxer" moniker but more importantly so is Robert Lane (aka the admin here) so I'd say it's just another squatter site of his. :future:

Are you referring to the sister Energi forum or something else? It and this one are owned and run by the same.

Welcome to the forum! :happy feet: Now read up on how to get the most out of the CMax hybrid design. Any questions? Ask way.

Yes. Although you can use regular if you want or need to, it will reduce fuel economy. There are frequent discussions on the volt forum about if the cost/mile is the same. :spend:

Get a 12v USB charger and use the "cigarette lighter" plug in front of the shifter. It also charges much faster than using the USB (aka iPod) plug inside the armrest. My wife has an iPhone 5s and it plays well with MFT. I went from a 4s to a galaxy note 3 and we ended up using it with google maps on its large screen as the NAV on a recent family trip. I plugged it into my 12 USB charger, turned it sideways, and placed it over the MFT screen! LOL For the first time and when we really wanted to use it a lot in an unfamiliar city, the factory nav decided to play the bouncing locator game usually putting us on the feeder road next to the freeway with the ensuing constant redirecting directions to get us back on the freeway. :banghead:

Weird, I thought both of my CMaxes came with a center arm rest for both front seat occupants. :headscratch: :) Seriously, I have had several cars with much narrower center arm rests and find the one in the CMax more than adequate for two elbows.

The CRV was also on higher ground so it's almost a draw as to photo affects but if you don't like that reference here's another. Throw some unnecessarily large, fuel sapping SUV style wheels on the CMax and they'd be almost impossible to tell apart. LOL

It's true. According to the EPA, the CMax is classified as a large car with 3 cubic feet larger interior (the area most folks use the most) but the v which is classified as a midsize wagon has a whopping 10 more cubic feet larger hatch. Another benefit is the v's rear seats slide fore/aft so they can also recline backwards for added rear passenger comfort on long rides. For me, the v easily wins this category but loses on all the others with power and acceleration being its worst attribute. I think a plug in version with a more powerful electric motor would be an awesome hybrid.

Shortly after purchase, I removed all the dealer stickers from both of my CMax'es before applying the opti-coat paint treatment. Although goo-gone is a very handy product with many uses around the house, it doesn't work all that well for adhesive removal in my experience(s). Wax/grease remover sold at auto parts stores or paint thinner works MUCH better and leave no residue. As the name implies, any wax will also be removed from the treated area. Edit: I pulled the dealer stickers off by hand. Old/weathered stickers are an entirely different animal and also may show paint fade if removed.

More like shattered! Wife took the NRG to work and found this at the end of the day. No obvious signs of vandalism, temps in the low to mid 90's but parked in the shade of a tree in the afternoon. Found a similar thread by a "one post wonder" who never followed up with their experience: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3692-shattered-rear-passenger-window/ And to kick a fella' while he's down, fordparts.com says this small window costs $400 yet the entire windshield is only $322! :banghead:

CONGRATS and welcome to the club. :happy feet: It could be sticking, need realignment or need the software upgrade. That upgrade came out nearly a year ago so yours should have had it applied by now but you know what they say about assuming...... you can check what upgrades are outstanding here: http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleSelection.do click on the "vehicle" tab and enter your VIN.

1 out of 10 times @ start I get the orange engine light
fotomoto replied to david4455's topic in General Discussion
I've done many false starts BEFORE putting the car in gear. I'll be doing other things (seatbelt, arranging items, radio, phone, etc) when I notice the a/c isn't cool. This is due to the compressor not running in accessory mode. You have the orange engine icon in accessory mode. -

fotomoto replied to david4455's topic in General Discussion
Hello and welcome to the site. :happy feet: Yes, it's called a false start and you're just getting too quick with the start up procedure or should I say "boot up". I think we're either not pushing the brake pedal far enough or letting off too soon. I've gotten better and now up to a 1-20 ratio. LOL -
Our two CMaxes came from different dealerships and one has the upper location and the other uses the lower. FWIW

Opti-Coat, any one try yet?
fotomoto replied to C-MaxSea's topic in Appearance: Detailing, Wash & Wax
Here's a 14 month update. It still looks GREAT and beads water just like a freshly waxed car. Besides not having to do repeated, periodic traditional work (waxing, clay bar, etc), I don't see any swirl marks in the clear coat. Bird dropping aren't causing any etching type marks (I do try to wash every week, two weeks max). Pics are from last nights wash. Even the trim and windows were treated and still bead up well. The trim has never had other treatment products applied (amor-all or similar). Paint is still clear and void of etchings from bird drops, water deposits, or swirl marks. Bottom line: Thumbs up and I'll do this to every new car until something better comes along. It was the first thing I did to my NRG. -
Same here plus much cheaper to operate. Welcome to the Club and see ya'll over there too!

Auxillary Electric AC Outlet Question
fotomoto replied to Laurel's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I had this same decision when we went camping and decided on an ol' fashion manual pump. It was a high volume design, cheap, and worked perfect for air mattresses. I also found it incredibly handy for stoking a weak campfire into a hot blaze within seconds (literally).
