  1. Nothing has changed AFAICT: Mobil 1 0W-20 Advanced Fuel Economy synthetic oil meets or exceeds the requirements of: ACEA A1/B1 API SN, SM, SL, SJ ILSAC GF-5 Ford WSS-M2C945-A http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Oils/Mobil_1_0W-20.aspx#
  2. We discussed this on the Energi forum last month and the Ford rep. advised to stick with what's stated in your respective OM. But I'll add, OM do get revised. ;)
  3. A trip from the home and garden store last spring:
  4. IDK about the 2014 but you really need a low rise design ramp for the 2013. Even with those, I'm about 50/50 at pushing them some before the tires grab them. I've found pointing the car and ramps down the slope on my driveway eliminates the pushing compared to being level in the garage. Edit: forgot to add pic to demonstrate.
  5. I use a free 3rd party site (photobucket but there are many others) so A) I have all my images in one easy to find location and B) I don't have to deal with constraints like you're encountering which can vary from forum to forum. I learned this lesson the hard way when a forum server was hacked and lost all images.
  6. In my NRG, I see nearly 30 miles estimated EV range on nice days so it's possible the 25 miles in the Focus could stretchhhhhh out to nearly 40! Personally, I'd rather like to see a Focus hybrid around the $20k level that would compete and, IMO, beat the prius c. I test drove the Focus hatch three times when it first came out and found the platform to be very nice but it just didn't have enough room for me. The CMax platform is better for me.
  7. So there's only two occupants and the rest of the car is for cargo? If so, take 4 empty tubs to the dealership, flip down the rear seats and try it out. You should be able to fit 2 more on a cargo carrier. I don't know if the pic helps but here's one with only one seat down:
  8. Family of four with a weeks worth of tent camping supplies up in the mountains. Plenty of power.
  9. L and Sport: Yeah, I get the picture! :shift:  Actually the NRG is a little more peppy/torquey off the line than the CMax hybrid due to more battery/EV performance but they even out after awhile. When they are both in hybrid mode, they are basically identical in performance because although the NRG has a heavier battery to tote around it has a more aggressive gearing ratio. Yes the flat and lower load floor on the CMax hybrid was a major reason for me going initially with it. I carry around a lot of work gear and my son has a huge bass sax instrument case so combined we were scratching up the tall lip on the volt with all the (failed) lifting up and over it.
  10. Hey Dannytroy, welcome to the forum. Yes, I've owned both, umm, I mean all three. I'll explain. I loved my Volt, especially the drivetrain and range, but after 10k miles the lack of room in the compact size class car ultimately led me to look elsewhere. I have two growing kids (14&12) and am responsible for all their transportation needs. The CMax hybrid had the room and features that would satisfy all my family needs. And it did very well for the next 9 months but I sure did miss "the plug". :worship: And my wife was coming up with more and more excuses to drive the CMax. So when Ford enticed us with end of the year deals on the CMax Energi, I traded in my wife's car for it and she got the hybrid for her highway commute. So, we are now a 2Max family. :happy feet: To get a similarly equipped car, you'll want the SEL trim line and I highly suggest the 302 or 303 package also. The kick lift gate might seem gimmicky but it's a really feature. The CMax platform is what a lot of Volt owners have been asking for in the Volt 2.0 model: comfort, roominess, better ride height, features, better controls, lower price, etc. My wife also loves the CMax power train (she's a lead foot) and I'd rate it right between the torquey Volt and the anemic Prius (owned one of those too). It's really the goldilocks of the hybrid world right now! :clapping: Any other questions? Please ask away.
  11. On other cars, I have used similar sets (black) found at auto parts stores for considerably less. Typically you need to remove the wheels to get enough room to install them. You may have enough room on the fronts if you turn the wheels outwards but it's very tight. I don't care so much about mud; rather it's the road tar flung up during the hottest months.
  12. As a follow up to my post #3, I was able to fix my wife's CMax the same way. She has a 5s. In MFT, delete phone. On phone, delete Sync. Restart phone. Restart car*. Pair phone (make sure "Show Notifications" is set to on in bluetooth settings; default is off). Next step is very important (don't skip): Restart car*. Txt can now be read. Even though my issue is unrelated to the OP's, I suggest he try the above and see if it clears that bug too. * open and closed door to completely turn off MFT system. If not, it stays active for several minutes.
  13. chrisl, I have a 4s and get every update so it's up to 7.0.4 now and I've notice no real performance issues. Maybe jumping from 5 to 7 would be noticeable. I have no issues with streaming or plugging in via USB (the latter has been only a couple of times though); rather, it's issues with reading text for me. I have two CMaxes and two iPhones (4s and 5s) and they both stopped reading txt messages at around the same time. I figured it was an apple update that did it but it had been several weeks since the latest one. I posted a question on the sync forum (deadsville) with no response. In the meantime, I cancelled the sync contact in my bluetooth settings and then re-paired the phone. That didn't work with immediate text tests but a day later it works again! :headscratch: Maybe it was powering off/on the car (rebooting) overnight after the re-pairing that did the trick(?). :headscratch:

    C-Max "SL"

As the saying goes, :needphotos: It would really help.
  15. WOW! Off the top of my head: The brake rotor most likely needs replacing. The lower control arm and lower radiator will at minimum need a thorough inspection for damage or leaks.
  16. Are you going to replace it with black material? I removed the one from my Volt as it was aggressively low and scraped loudly on everything including my driveway. The latter got really old as it was quite the attention getter in the neighborhood. GM eventually did offer a shorter one as an accessory. I still have it on a shelf somewhere so I might see if it will work on the wife's CMax; especially since she drivers about 90% highway with it now.
  17. We have a lot of plowed, black farm land around here. On some roads I typically drive, as far as the eye can see on both sides. Combined that with a near constant gulf breeze to stir it up and then going past the recommended time frame :waiting: and you can understand why mine was so :cleaning: Here's a view while riding my bike showing what I mean:
  18. Do you mean a maintenance plan? Extended warranties typically don't cover maintenance items.
  19. Oh man after seeing this I thought I paid more than that so I went back and checked my order but I paid roughly $16 shipped by buying two ($32 total) from Car Parts Kings. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008PJDOSS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A311393O04YIYG
  20. But you didn't buy a new CMax from a private owner. Try looking at KBB's used price from a dealer not the private party number. Need to compare apples to apples. I agree that an SE isn't going to hold value compared to a better equipped SEL. Secondly, I looked at new 2013 Mazda 3's still on the lot locally and a base model sells for a discounted $18.5k so getting $17k used, private party would be a long shot; a very long shot. Thirdly, gas prices are low (under $3/gallon here) so now's the time to buy a hybrid not sell.
  21. :headscratch: But, but, but.... now I'm going to have to find my coat. I have one...... somewhere. :detective: -40F/C. That does not compute! :headscratch: :) Please feel free to return the favor in August. ;)
  22. Thanks for your cooperation everyone as it was 81F here yesterday. :happy feet: But you might want to check on the kids upstairs cuz those windows must be open again since it will be 30f by Wednesday! :sos:
  23. I was thinking about this too and thinking that it maybe got out of phase so instead of canceling or reducing sounds it was enhancing the effect.
  24. Early on, the Volt had a few cases of DBS (dead battery syndrome) that were tracked down to the bluetooth module remaining active if the car was shut down during a call and the person walked away before hanging up.
  25. I had a vehicle that quickly developed a reduction in fan performance. It turned out that several napkins had been sucked out of the glove compartment while closed onto the fan's intake port.
