  1. A cow? Nah, I wouldn't worry at all. Now a goat? Be afraid, be very afraid!

    Trash bag

I use the map pockets for all dry trash. When I wash it, I empty those out. Any "wet" items are stored back in the wrappers/bag they came in and tossed upon arrival at the next destination.
  3. Yes, the CMax is a hybrid with some ponies under the hood! Or as my wife says, "It has a lot of buh-wahhhhh"!!!!! :shift: (Imitating the sound of a 4 barrel V8 kicking in the secondaries)
  4. I do that quite often in my NRG. :shift: As a fellow NRG owner, you are probably aware the computer initially idles the ICE and blends it in with the EV motor until it warms up a bit before taking completely over. So why the 35mph difference in the hybrid? Since wnuk says ambient temps don't seem to matter, I'm now leaning to a transmission lubrication issue on a cold drive train. Thoughts anyone?
  5. It's hard to get too hence hard to find but there is a small cubby hole in the center armrest below the USB ports.
  6. Yes, the battery temp is most likely too high for the SOC so the ICE comes on to take some of the load off the EV system. We can run into this in the Energi world too. See if the speed limit changes (goes up) on your downhill run as the temps get cooler in the fall. I suspect it will.
  7. Hmm, I can't replicate because I don't have hills here. What are your ambient temps now?
  8. CONGRATS! Now the longer you can go and still maintain a crazy high figure, the better. Keep working at it. It will get easier with more miles on the car/ICE and cooler temperatures.
  9. This is why raising the overall FE of trucks is SO important. :rtfm:
  10. No, this is WAY off. Coal only accounts for 39% of the grid and is decreasing.* The grid is getting cleaner with new solar and wind generation added everyday. Although a fossil fuel, nat gas is cleaner burning than coal and because of the shale boom gas generation plants are also increasing. Plug-in owners in many areas can choose their electricity generation source and fill the cars up with only clean energy electrons. It's my understanding that's something a hydrogen car will never be able to do. *http://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.cfm?id=427&t=3
  11. Two seconds in a 0-60 time is a HUGE difference especially in the seat-of-the-pants feeling. I was late this weekend for a very important function and traveling on a 75mph road passing folks left and right (figuratively). The amount of passing power is amazing and frequently found myself at 85-90mph by the time I was pulling back into my lane. Car had two occupants, a loaded hatch, and a loaded cargo carrier. I cross-shopped and test drove the V three times (in addition to the 27,000 miles I racked up in the standard prius with the same drivetrain) and just couldn't get over the lack of power. I knew it would quickly get old listening to that drone (again) which was my wife's #1 nit-pick against the prius liftback drivetrain. A simple cargo carrier gives me enough capacity when I need it but I don't have the penalty the other 98% of the time I don't.
  12. Whatever you do, don't park on the cable. Some have tried that and damaged the cable. Others have used the heavy duty rubber strips intended for traffic use, run the cable under it, and then parked on it. These methods or the one listed above don't stop @$$'s from unplugging you. Me? If I was going to do this everyday work day, I'd get a small lock and use it. Even at 120v, the car should be charged up by the end of lunch so you could stow the cable in the car for the afternoon. Charge station etiquette says you should also move the car to let others have the opportunity.
  13. Do you mean this one? We "determined" that it was the fuel system performing pressure maintenance on the closed system. Runs for quite a while but not sure for how long.

    New owner

I think you'll find that not only is the CMax capable of impressive mileage it is also capable of some impressive acceleration too. :shift:
  15. Infrastructure. Even out in the middle of nowhere, you can find a plug or at the very least build your own solar. Hydrogen supply in EBF Texas? LOL Fuggetaboutit. I haven't seen any plan on who's going to step up and pay for the hydrogen highway. :shift: I'm intrigued by and very interested in the technology.
  16. Where do you live and how many miles on the car? Average speed on the 25 mile route?
  17. Could you post some pics of it and installed? TIA

    NEWBI

Hello and Welcome to the site scotti! A common issue with new owners (and even vets like me) is the occasional false start when the brake lever isn't held down long enough and/or far enough so the car doesn't achieve ready mode (green car with arrows ICON) but rather enters into accessory mode. In accessory mode, you can put the car in gear and push on the accelerator pedal but nothing will happen (the car may roll if on an incline). If nothing is working (no dash lights, no sounds, etc), then it's probably a weak or dead 12v battery. Only using it once a week (especially if it's a short drive) might necessitate a trickle charge. The 12v battery is small because it doesn't start/crank over the gas engine like in a regular car; the large hybrid battery does that. The 12v battery simply "wakes the car up" by bringing all the computers online and activates the electrical connection of the HV battery to the car. HTH
  19. Just for grins after seeing this thread I tried to see how much I could regen on a short highway trip on level roads while in hybrid mode with a depleted battery. I have a scangauge II that gives me the battery SOC in numerical percentages. I was able to charge 10% back (3 miles estimate) by simply switching back to "EV Now" mode before I came to a full stop from highway speeds (55-70mph) and returning to "EV Later" (hybrid mode) before taking off. I will now add this strategy to my out of town trips! :shift: Yes, there are some owners who only get charges from public stations, work, or visiting family/friends. Then there are others who never charge and only bought a PHEV for the HOV stickers.
  20. You should narrow down the question to specifically what you're looking to buy (model trim, packages, premium paint, etc) because you're going to get answers "all over the map" and from vastly different times. For instance, early '13 owners paid close to full sticker. Also, trade-ins greatly affect the deal. Very hard to compare apples to apples.
  21. The wife got a Platinum White Energi about a month ago. I'm really starting to like it over my Ruby Red now! :redcard: and, of course, it rained on the way home from the dealership..... :rant2:
  22. Yes it is still available: $4007 (yes that is a seven at the end LOL). In Texas, I also got an additional $2500 state incentive. :happy feet:
  23. The sportwagen TDI was on my cross-shopping list but was quickly penciled off due to the higher running costs (must factor in the much higher maintenance costs too) and dubious WV reliability but a diesel is tough to beat in pure hwy mileage.
