  1. Yeah, I wondered about that too. I went back and tried the worst case scenario by advancing everything to the max and it only dropped to 42.5mpg. Yeah, that ain't right! :headscratch:
  2. However, the volt app has a neat monthly/daily EV ratio/miles widget that is easy to understand which I wish MFM had. Also, I, or a passenger, could send driving directions directly to the NAV unit through the volt phone app. I would also prefer OnStar over my phone to notify emergency personnel in the event of a severe crash. I agree that they ALL need work. Just like all the issues with MFT, Toyota's Entune, etc, automakers need to make big strides to overcome these clunky early versions. I read a while back where GM was hiring 500+ tech workers for a new Austin campus on software integration.
  3. Interesting. Thanks for the link. I tried the personalization scale and it was very close to my actual FE. :shift:
  4. thanks everyone for all the replies.I picked up the Galaxy Note 3 today and it works fine with the c-max!
  5. Spring cleaning. Off to the recycle center: The cargo carrier keeps the really nasty stuff outside the car:
  6. Personally if I knew* it was going to be this long and expensive, I would have considered a good used part: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/400583662082?lpid=82 *hindsight being 20/20 and all
  7. Yes, no "action" required. It's just a notice that the warranty on the sync/MFT was extended due to all the issues when it first came out; a goodwill gesture. IIRC, it was extended from 3 yrs to 5.
  8. I've read the sync forum (more questions than answers) but I thought I'd check with fellow owners here. How well does the galaxy line (newer models with Android 4.3.x and higher) play with Ford's sync and MFT? Do they read texts? Answer them? Streaming?
  9. I couldn't score a zero even with full ABS actuation from 70+ mph. This is the lowest I got after several attempts:
  10. Good question. Here in south Texas the answer is an absolute YES! It was 109f yesterday (April record) and my car therm was registering 112f after sitting in a parking lot for over an hour. My intro-tech shield along with my NRG's remote start made it quite bearable when I got in. :yahoo: Since you also have an NRG with remote start and live in Michigan, I'd say a shade isn't mandatory but it will always help. I'd suggest getting a cheaper, ring/circle style fold up version (see pics) and see if A) you think it helps and B) have the determination to use it every time. This is the type I've used for years as it is so easy to store because they fold together into a small circle that is easily stored between the seats and the center console. The intro-tech is way more cumbersome to store but it's ability to deflect BTU's more than offsets that issue.
  11. In the left screen settings menu, make sure "Brake Coach" is enabled and strive for 100% scores. It's a great learning tool/aid.
  12. Update: in January, I changed oil at 20,000 but forgot about resetting the monitor. It came on last week at 24,000 miles. <shruggs>
  13. Grocery shopping for a family of four is no problem in the NRG. It's a three mile trip.
  14. Thanks Jack. I hope to add the other set to the wife's CMax this weekend. I'll take some pics when I do.
  15. The door seals squeak in both of our CMaxes. I have to periodically apply silicone spray to them. I've never had to (periodically at least) do this with other vehicles. :headscratch:
  16. I've done several long day trips ( 400-500 miles) and one long 3,000 mile trip and was comfortable on all of them. I had a Prius who's seat gave me the worst upper back pain I've ever had from driving. I'd check around the St. Louis area for CMax rentals, get one for the weekend, and go on a trip! :shift:
  17. Kinda'. Sorta'. I got the hybrid first and an energi a few months later so now we have twins (identical SEL's with 302a) and the wife drives the hybrid Previously, I had a Volt and was really missing the plug and EV driving. I typically drive 40-70 EV miles a day with extra charging from a level two (240v) cord at home. :superhero: People have asked me which one I'd recommend and I say without hesitation the Energi IF trunk space isn't an issue. At nearly 6 months in, I'm at 115 MPGe lifetime or about 445 mpg and excluding the complimentary dealer's tank I've spent $10.71 on gas (keeping 3 gallons of premium in it)! My typical roundtrips average 10-18 miles. As you said, the price premium would be very hard to overcome but I actually paid less for the NRG than the hybrid due to end of the year incentives by Ford, the dealer, and the $4,000 tax incentive.
  18. Not full but very, very heavy (250 lbs of concrete alone): Lowrider (tires at 46 psi): And what other kind of vehicle can haul a load like this and still get incredible fuel economy?
  19. Yes as you've determined there are two nearly identical CMax forums and most NRG owners belong to both. General car questions here and EV/battery/NRG specific questions there. It's all good. I'm always glad to see another ruby red join the site(s)! BTW, my wife successfully defended her dissertation this week and will be graduating with her doctorate this May so I really can relate to your elation. CONGRATS!
  20. Several options here: http://www.juicedhybrid.com/2013-2014-Ford-C-Max-Hybrid-Roof-Rack-s/2028.htm
  21. Yes, you've driven too far away from the factory. Seriously, I've never heard of that message before. Weird.
  22. I've noticed none of the posts occur in Dec., Jan., or Feb.; just late spring or summer. :detective: I think they work fine here in south Texas. I wished the butt/back sections operated separately as #1 feels quite soothing on my back at the end of a long day. These seat heaters allowed me to drive in my Energi through the entire winter (30's & 40's) without or rarely using electric cabin heat (which reduces EV range).
  23. You heard wrong. The solar panel(s) are part of a separate structure that the Energi model would plug into NOT built into the roofline of the vehicle. Secondly, this is just a concept and not part of any new model coming out. Thirdly, they would be prohibitively expensive for the 1 or 2 miles you might get. For example, I had a Prius with a $4,000 solar roof option (nav included too in that pkg). It only provided 22 watts of electricity which powered the interior fan to help keep the inside a little cooler (yes it worked). It would take days to get enough juice out of that to propel a car. Many prius owners would like the solar roof to help charge the 12V battery to keep it topped off.
  24. Because you missed seeing the child for sale at the Gran Campana store! :camera:
