  1. Here's how recumpence did it: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/2074-the-aero-mods-begin-lexan-wheel-covers/?hl=%2Bwheel+%2Bcovers
  2. First cool front of the fall has given me the opportunity to turn off the A/C for the first time since April and the benefits were immediate and very apparent. One nearly 2 mile stretch between traffic lights typically takes two P&G cycles but this morning it only took one. At that point, I was nearly 10mpg up on the running avg. Last week with the a/c, I was getting 47-49mpg on this same morning commute.
  3. My guess is it's what my Prius used and what I'm running now in my CMax: 0w-20 full synthetic.
  4. Hmmm. I've used mine twice to air up a low tire with no issues. I used the front, exterior 12V outlet, ACC mode the first time, and Ready mode the last time.
  5. Camping gear: Beach stuff stays outside which keeps a lot more of the sand outside too!
  6. Normally our winters way down here are temperate and dry but I get the feeling it's going to be colder and wetter. We're all ready getting fronts strong enough to steer tropical storm systems away from us which is good but a sign of things to come me thinks.
  7. Not necessarily so. Depends on how it's classified by FORD. Toyota classifies the transaxle as part of the power train and not a component of the hybrid system. Yeah, BS!
  8. I haven't seen any other reports of a transaxle failure. Got any details? Any fluid changes? Interesting that it's covered on a commercial vehicle.
  9. Another Texan with no joy. Hmm.......
  10. Anytime the car is on (ready mode), the 12V battery is being charged. The only times it isn't is when the car is in accessory mode or off. Congrats on your new car! :happy feet: There is also a cmax forum specifically for energi specific topics: http://fordcmaxenergiforum.com but we can handle any general cmax questions you have.
  11. Yeah, most folks are calling these reliability issues. I think of it like this: losing 2nd gear in your transmission is a serious reliability issue but getting a software update to make is shift smoother or get better FE isn't. I'd like to know more about the JD power survey where it says, "two-thirds of the reported problems in the Initial Quality Study are related to bad design, instead of factory goofs. A manufacturing mistake can usually be fixed, but design problems are much harder to quickly remedy." What are the bad designs? Dead battery syndrome. What else?
  12. I signed up for and participate on truedelta.com The CMax is taking a huge beating on reliability because of the software updates and headliner recall.
  13. Well not to be picking nits here but since you recently added the update, it's still not going to be apples to apples. More like apples to grapples. Off-topic: Ever had a grapple? They're pretty good but in a weird sort of way.
  14. Shouldn't we have some of our top mpg champs coach the coaches?
  15. Sounds like our Dancing With The Stars that has football player/stars learn to dance but yours is set to an ice theme. Sorry I wouldn't watch either but that's just me.
  16. I, too, expected lower than 47mpg since I rarely obtain EPA ratings in any vehicle and had read the initial reports. Thus while making purchase decisions, I lowered my estimate to about 42mpg (my fuelly is rising rapidly with the ending of summer). If the current ratings would have been in effect, I would have probably lowered my estimate to the upper 30's. That's a figure that would have dropped the CMax off my shopping radar.
  17. Yes I installed my own Leviton level II 240V charger for my former volt. Cost my about $27 in materials and "labor"). ;)
  18. Easy: timers on whenever vehicle's transmission is not in Park.
  19. WOW. Glad to hear that the CMAX protected you and took all the damage but let me be the first to say: :needphotos: Seriously, I'd like to see what $11,200 in front end damages look like.
  20. Congrats as you just up the versatility of the vehicle immensely. I'll be using my hitch/cargo carrier tomorrow morning to take some refuse to the local trash drive. This avoids going to the rural dump where there is a great chance of getting a flat. BTDT
  21. Your Honor, if it pleases the court may I submit exhibit A, a previous photo in this thread of my Trip 1 odometer that's just 35 miles from the 600 mile goal: And exhibit B: my trip summary for today totaling 36 miles and 6/10ths gallons used. (bonus points for it being nearly 55mpg!) If your Honor will now notice and tally the odometer from both shots. :detective: It all adds up! :rtfm: I rest my case and throw myself upon the mercy of the Court! :judge: Did I mention how nice your golf swing looks?
  22. Well I hit 601.5 miles on 12.6 gallons with an indicated 47.4mpg for the tank a new personal best :superhero: but....... While at a busy, crowded gas station, I got to doing things too fast and screwed up and took a pic of the trip summary NOT TRIP 1!!!! :swear: And I, of course, reset it before checking my phone images. :banghead: Oh well, it's still hot here (mid-90's on the afternoon legs) so I should will have plenty of opportunities to join the 600 club as things continue to cool down.
  23. This would be my first attempt (newb). Tomorrow I will have two 20 mile commutes which usually register .3 gals each. DTE is all ready at ZERO! Should I go for it? :headscratch:
  24. This is my normal daily route that I've posted several times in this thread which are usually juuuuuuuust over 50mpg to qualify but this one tonight post update, some cooler weather, and with more break-in miles kicked it a notch.
  25. Do you have at least a year of driving the CMAX under your belt (i.e., all 4 seasons) so you won't be comparing apples to oranges?
