  1. Good points about temperature but at what temp range does one start seeing a decrease? Below 70? 65? At seven months in, I haven't experienced anything below 60f at night/mornings while most days are in the 80-100F range.
  2. It sounds like the MFT system was in a fault loop and thus wouldn't let the car completely shut down. A hard reset via the eventual and unfortunate battery drain got everything going again. If it were me, I'd wait till the 28th.
  3. I thought the Energi credit was $3750.
  4. Yeah, I've been monitoring the Ford website offers at the beginning of each month. Coming from a plug-in (Volt @ 172mpg), it's been hard getting use to the hybrid FE numbers again. My closest dealer has an identical Ruby Red Energi optioned exactly as my SEL that's been on the lot since May. I drove it in August but their deal/offer was a joke at the time.
  5. I'm the exact opposite. Night brings cooler temps and, most importantly for me, lighter or no winds. I have the "ghetto DRL mod" that keeps my headlights on during the day but if I try for another 700+ mile tank where anything that can help should be tried, I'll turn them off and see if it helps.
  6. Sorry but without miles traveled this entry doesn't meet the requirements of this thread.
  7. I had similar issues when I did the MFT update via a thumb drive. It was suggested that I do a reset (it's in the settings menu) which didn't solve things immediately but a power cycle or two afterwards and things were back to normal.
  8. Yes it's a basic tool of photoshop (all versions) since the beginning back in the 90's. It looks like a rubber stamp tool. Very useful. http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/clone-stamp-tool-in-photoshop-elements-10.html
  9. It's been around for quite some time and once you see the description you'll say "oh yeah, I've seen those." Ford's most famous examples have been on mustangs. I even had them on one of my Honda motorcycle fairings. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NACA_duct
  10. That's it. I don't have a clue what exactly he's doing or even what he says he's doing. Is it this (bold emphasis mine)? "I DO "blip" the pedal to kick it out of full EV into the negative split mode on a regular basis, but the 40-60mpg is in ICE mode (maybe with some EV assist), torque shows EV instant mpg at Torque's max=255mpg, with the higher mpg coming with high battery, level ground, etc." His qualifier, "maybe with some EV assist" sounds like "high ICE" aka "negative split mode" or as the prius folks call it "blending". What do you think?
  11. I heard Ford is being forced to pay ya'll in Maple syrup instead. Warning: my not be safe for work. http://on.cc.com/Z1A7Mu
  12. Personally, it would have to be more than a 10% increase to overcome the, ahem, "unusual" looks they add and I'm being polite. If they work, that level of improvement is probably possible on vehicles where styling trumps aerodynamics. For those that don't know, even the cover under the CMax's engine bay, the one that needs to be removed for an oil change, has a NACA duct built in. Yes, this car has THAT level of attention to detail given to aerodynamics.
  13. Yes, I highly recommend investigating alternative routes not only on commutes but also the everyday errand runs (grocery store, dining out, etc). You might be pleasantly surprised that a new route might be a) more economical or b) faster. It's really great when they are both. Breaks up the drudgery too since as they say variety is the spice of life.
  14. You can go to most major auto parts store and ask them to read the codes for free. They may not always see hybrid specific but the generic ones for sure.
  15. Is it April 1st all ready? :detective: MacGyver, please explain for us exactly what you're doing to achieve this incredible hwy mpg figures besides monitoring with the torque/obd app. :headscratch: Thx
  16. LOL! On our summer camping trip, this was my Plan B in case of severe weather. It may just have been good story but one prius owner said he pulled into an abandoned parking lot late one night, parked under one of the still functioning light poles, left the car and a/c on, locked the doors, and went to sleep. Upon waking up the next morning, he found himself completely surrounded by a weekend flea market! :lol2:
  17. Yes, you can run the vehicle in this manner until the gasoline runs out. Parking valets have left some vehicles on like this by mistake. The bad news is after the fuel runs out, the HV battery can drain beyond service limits. We don't know yet if the CMax has protection against this. Some adventurous (or is it cheap) Prius owners have "camped out" this way. In one particular case, it was determined with a scan guage that the car was consuming a little less than 3/4 gallon per hour while sleeping in it overnight with the a/c on. So filled up, one could easily do it. Obviously you can not let the tailpipe become obstructed (snow accumulation, mud, etc).
  18. Cool! You need to invite her to join the forum. :noobie: Best to write it down as the name can be a tad too complex for a stranger to easily recall. I know I wouldn't. :rtfm:
  19. TIP: you can move the auto-focus point (green box) with your finger to a new spot in the frame with less light and the camera will usually readjust its exposure setting. But as you say, a daylight pic will be better and more meaningful anyways.
  20. Yes there is an original thread with this info. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3007-something-new-for-maxus/ I'm not sure why he needed to start a second one http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3059-power-for-drl/ or this third one all on the same subject. It gets :headscratch: and makes it harder to find all the info.
  21. Besides what all has been said, there's also the weather factor for someone living in Chicago. I know the OP is a first time hybrid owner and may not know how colder weather can negatively affect hybrid mpg's; especially with an information display that is highly reactive. The ICE takes longer to warm up, may run longer if the HVAC system calls upon it for heat, cooler temps lower the pressure in tires, and the ICE cools down faster during glides, etc.
  22. Site no longer opens on my iPhone under iOS 7.0.1/safari. So far, it's the only one in my bookmarks that doesn't work. According to the progress bar, it loads and the URL is in the window but the page is blank. Anyone else?
