  1. AFAICT, the manual never specifically states that. Rather it is vague (go figure) but does say some things like this on page 371 about heavy commercial use (taxi): Change engine oil and filter as indicated by the information display and perform services listed in the Normal Scheduled Maintenance chart. and this example (pg 371) indicates it can come on at non-10k intervals: Example #1: The OIL CHANGE REQUIRED message comes on at 28751 miles (46270 kilometers); perform the 30000 mile (48000 kilometer) automatic transmission fluid replacement.
  2. Make sure you have a large battery buffer before checking EV mode at high speeds. Then at 70mph on a level road with no or very light headwinds, let off the throttle and gently reapply (feather) to maintain 65mph. It should drop into EV mode.
  3. High ICE mode: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1728-explain-ice-high-mode/?p=15761 The new FE update was/is feared to possibly remove this condition.
  4. Yes.......... and no. Yes in the regard as to how GaryM so nicely explained in post #2. No in the regard that if you just drive it and don't "help" the car get into EV mode as much as possible in won't auto P&G. Until cars are smart enough to know the terrain and traffic, auto P&G won't be effective. Some cars all ready have adaptive cruise control that uses radar to recognize the speed of the car in front of them so that tech is nearly there. Now if the car could also compute terrain (hills, down grades, etc), wind, recognize stop lights changing, etc....... We human drivers are still important. For now.......... <insert evil laugh here>
  5. I thought we have moved on to alternative lifestyles.......
  6. I don't think I ever saw you answer. Curious to see how long it let you go since you do a lot of hwy driving. It should be a longer interval but........ a hybrid when driven "correctly" in urban cycles should get a longer interval since the ICE is used less than on the highway where it is the primary motivator. But urban driving has more start/stop cycles and the ICE doesn't always get up to the proper temp. Lots of variables. Glad we have the monitor.
  7. On your phone>settings>bluetooth>devices>sync>forget this device>forget. This will erase your old phone/sync pairing. Bluetooth should then almost immediately find Sync again. Choose it and go through the pair process.
  8. This is the list: http://www.nsapp.fordtechservice.dealerconnection.com/sync/usEN/sync_us_EN_iop_2_00.pdf It rates the iPhone 4 as "the best". If you don't need the latest, greatest then you could save a ton of money as AT&T sells those now for $49 with a plan. I have a 4s (has a 3GS too) that I'm very satisfied with and don't feel the need to upgrade anytime soon. It will read text to you but not reply. Address book uploads easily, etc.
  9. Well, the Master Reset had no effect on the FM issue nor did it erase the FM presets. Shouldn't it have erase them? It did erase the SAT presets and I'll have to re-pair the phone..... again. The good news is SAT seems even more responsive. Half of my FM presets are HD digital so I'm thinking that could be a smoking gun there.
  10. Tried to reinstall but it won't let me with a message saying 3.6 is all ready installed. SAT seems to be working now but FM is still the same: displays (both MFT and drivers right panel) are stuck on one station (93.9) even though I can switch to others (eventually). See pics. FM1 Preset 1 should be 90.3 not 93.9 DOH!
  11. Another mac/safari user who couldn't get the DL to work. Had to install firefox and also reinstalled java just in case (all ready had the latest version) to get it going to a USB drive. Install took longer than 30 minutes, more like 45. I did drive the car back to work from lunch during this but didn't restart it. Along the way, it displayed "loading 1 of 13 updates" again! Anyway it continued to the third update, hung for a good while, and then finished with the long OK message. Re-paired phone. Lost my screen background and FM/SAT presets don't work well: slow activation, don't always light up when touched, or just don't switch. Steering wheel paddle/selector wasn't any better. Will check it again after work. Master Reset maybe?
  12. CONGRATS Phil! You need to update your profile now that you are an official owner. Typically you manually tune the station in and then simply push and hold the preset you wish to store until it it "beeps". Takes a couple of seconds.
  13. The Texas June bug I'm so familiar with is an ugly brown color: http://sixpacktech.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/June-bug.jpg To help explain Jus to the newbies we can now say that he "Has a bug in in bonnet." :)

    Howdy from Texas

HOWDY! :hat_tip: I've had an SEL since late March with 9,300 miles now. Going on a long road trip/vacation to NM next week but will be getting the update this Tuesday (fingers crossed), oil change and "tar" rotation before we leave. We really like the car overall. Your hwy mileage should increase into the low 40's in cooler weather and (hopefully) with the FE update maybe even higher. Turn ECO-cruise on if you haven't and set it to 68mph and see what you get. GOOD LUCK!
  15. IIRC Madcmax posted about his poor mileage and used his former vehicle as an example. It was shown percentage wise that his former car also had the same results. It would be interesting to see how his prius fares. My ownership taught me it needed a very, very gentle pedal foot to hit its numbers.
  16. Not really. http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/article/Think-the-gas-pump-is-wrong-You-may-be-right-3588193.php
  17. Yeah it looks like there are no factory leasing incentives ATM. Since the end of the model year brings out the best financing, what is your timetable?
  18. I test drove a new 08 civic hybrid back in the day and, I too, didn't like that the rear seats weren't a full pass through design. That and the fact the a/c didn't work at stops while the ICE was off was a definite deal breaker here in south Texas. We also have an 09 Civic EX coupe and the CMax is head and shoulders above it in daily driving tasks.
  19. Yup, leave things alone. BTDT with 28yrs experience. :judge:
  20. The battery is in the same basic location that all Priuses since 2004 have had.
  21. Don't stress. Good long trips like your drive are actually the best/easiest for oil (gets a good warmup). The oil monitor is a factory service recommendation not a warranty "law". So, how many miles did the monitor let you accrue since the last change?
  22. Absolutely but the newer the build, the better. Mine's March and it has been very well behaved. I get good city mileage but I can't wait to see what the FE update will do for hwy driving which has been dragging down my lifetime avg.
  23. "I'm being Flashed as we speak" Was it Anthony Weiner? ;)
  24. Yes, the Volt system is pressurized to help slow gas degradation over time. I typically went 6 weeks between fills but many folks can go months or even years on the same tank. The car will force you to burn a tank per year to get rid of stale gas but some crafty folks have workarounds for that (only keep two or so gallons in it). Crazy. A Plug totally changes things.
