  1. Welcome to the site! :happy feet: Just to clarify, the C-Max hybrid does NOT use a/c electricity from the wall but the Energi model does. The Energi is a PHEV so it also has a gas engine and thus will need oil changes. The electric Focus model is a pure EV design and will never need oil changes but will still require periodic inverter coolant and brake fluid changes. HTH
  2. I had one from that generation (08) and they are rated at 34mpg hwy. I could eek out an indicated 36mpg keeping it at 65mph but 40mpg at 80mph the whole trip? No way! Maybe one way with a great tailwind and limited time at 80 (passing someone). As they say, YMMV and yours did! :)
  3. In case you need more evidence. Second leg of a 500 mile trip over the past two days. [/url]
  4. I recently discovered that if you have the lights on and power off the car, an alarm chimes ja warning ust like most other modern cars. Here's the cool part I discovered: if you then rotate the selector from "on" to "auto" and exit the vehicle, the lights will turn off. Nice. Why is so cool? In my former prius if you did the same thing, the headlights would remain on. IOW, the auto setting you had selected wouldn't take effect until you powered up the car again. Thus if not for a nice neighbor, I would have burned down and possibly ruined the prius 12V battery after doing this on the first day of ownership.
  5. Let me guess: Basic training.
  6. LOL, probably not. Welcome fellow Texan. :salute: My dad lives over in Leakey. Probably even less know how to pronounce that one!
  7. Lubing won't help. :) There hasn't been one report of the gate not opening AND raising with one actuation of the dash button. That logically rules out the latch mechanism, sticky seals, etc. I'm 90% sure* from my "testing" that it's two kicks if locked and one if unlocked. * I'll leave myself a little room for another possibility ;)
  8. Yes, amoredsaint has a company owned car as per another thread. Yesterday morning was my first one with the cmax in heavy fog. I noticed several drivers who didn't have their lights one and was cussing at them. Then I noticed most of these folks were in newer Fords followed closely in noticing that mine were no longer on either!!! The sensor for the auto lamps is too optimistic IMO and turns them off too soon. DRL would help.
  9. I don't find this to be the case when lowering the temp a few degrees on one controller in DUAL auto mode.
  10. Congrats on their purchase. Once one experiences EV driving, it's very hard to drive anything else. The Murano will quickly feel antiquated, loud, and harsh.
  11. Your eyes aren't playing tricks on you. Welcome to the world of 3.5.1.
  12. I came from another hybrid and even I initially found the brakes grabby but now i never give them a second thought. Why? Break in, retraining muscle memory and the brake coach. It's a non-issue.
  13. Good questions but since I'm being the guinea pig I don't have the answers. At least yet. I think touch ups would be OK since I know I went over some areas twice such as the roof which I divided up into 4 squares. I had no issues when I overlapped at little of each. Unless you have some leftover solution though, you'd have to buy another $70kit. No idea on the shelf life but it does have a good reusable twist lock seal for the syringe. Most folks don't use it all but I kept going finding other things to coat like the side windows and the front grill till I used it up.
  14. It holds up to our personal day-to-day uses like luggage, band instrument cases, groceries, etc., but wouldn't protect from sharp things that could gouge. That's where a rubber/thick plastic type pad is better. The weave is thick enough that it makes a zipper type sound when you run a fingernail across it. Yes, it would look :camera: "bitchin' brah" with your Oakley gear.
  15. I didn't really care for any of the options listed in this thread: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/index.php?/topic/386-rear-bumper-scuff-protection/ so I decided to make my own out of 3M carbon fiber weave vinyl. Got the 1ftx5ft roll and applicator prep solution from ebay for about $25 shipped. I've done this on my previous car and have made a few styling designs for my motorcycles in the past. I marked and cut a template out of paper as a guide before cutting the vinyl. This won't be as durable as a thick rubber pad but it will hold up to a lot of abuse and, IMO, looks nicer.
  16. Not to pry amoredsaint but is the company you work for and provided your SEL large enough to qualify for fleet purchases?
  17. Are you maybe confusing the fog lamps for DRL's? I for one would love to have DRL's. If it was an easy add-on accessory, I'd get them because with the inattentive drivers around here I need all the help I can get! :sos:
  18. This is an evening shot without any back light so the tint appears to be even much darker than it is. Fronts are Texas legal. I wouldn't get the rears that dark if I didn't have a backup camera.
  19. Well I never got a reply so I went ahead with my plan outlined above and it paid off in spades! Below is a close up of the front fender surface from the previous shot above. You could shave off this reflection! LOL (please excuse the garage clutter) It took me about 7 hours total which included three washes (one power spray, two hand), clay bar (mainly the front clip for bugs), fine scratch remover (probably didn't need it but it made me feel good), buff out, and finally a wax stripper with hand wipe. The application of the opti-coat 2.0 was actually the easiest process of all; basically wipe on, wipe off. With the exceptions of the front/back windshields and wheels, I applied it to everything: paint, trim, mirrors, all side windows, lights, grill, etc. using up the entire syringe. Next, I pulled the car out of the garage for better lighting to give it a final inspection, rub out any high spots (only found one), and admire my results. Although garaged at home, it sits out in the south Texas sun all day. I try to park under shade trees when I can but that means bird poop so I will be a good test subject to see how well and how long opti-coat 2.0 works.
  20. This. I recently received a "settlement" in the mail over a class action suit concerning satellite internet bandwidth, promises, claims, and throttle back policies. The check was for $5. Well, I feel vindicated...... <sarcasm>
  21. Yes, forums naturally attract folks looking for help or to complain/rant so forum traffic has to be "filtered". That's why I started one thread on 50+ mpg trips as an opportunity to show the car does great (like your 134mpg) and these trips balance out the sub-30mpg runs on a cold engine, etc. and help deliver an overall mpg in the 40's. CONGRATS and good luck with your new car!
  22. Hey, this is like one of those rigged carnival "games of skill". There's NO WAY you can reach the goal! :drop: :hysterical:
  23. No, not really broken in yet at 2,000 miles but mpg's are improving. Best tank has been 44mpg after starting with a 41. Pure hwy trips bring it down. Check out the fuel mileage sub-forums for lots of tips, techniques, and answers.
  24. Auto temp will still work without A/C within its ability but those abilities are limited. Works best when outside air is cool and dry.
  25. No. What version of firmware do you have?
