  1. Thanks Tricia for the specific news. Now I know not to be concerned until later this year.
  2. Dealer still says they don't have parts for this recall...it's been a long time. They keep asking me if the airbag light is on, which it isn't, so they say to wait until I get another letter. What is the experience of others?
  3. No real problems with my iPhone 5s. I sometimes have trouble getting the audio for google maps or apple maps to come out of the synch system when plugged into the usb port. That is solved by simply using bluetooth. Of course then your battery runs down real fast, so using an external battery for long trips solves that problem.
  4. Just got Maxy back after 4 days of their working on a EVAC trouble light. They arranged an Enterprise rental at no charge to me. "They pick you up". BTW, hold your fingers that the light doesn't come on again. SFSG.
  5. Drew. Yes, I've gotten BT spoken directions on my IP5c. But, you need to do it on BT and not by USB. Also, each direction is treated as a phone call and that's why you get the Call Ended thing each time. The problem is that if you're doing a long trip, you will wear down your battery. That's why I'd like to be able to do it by USB. I do have an external battery charger thingy which I've used with my phone and then I can let it go by BT without discharging my phone. BTW, when using Google Maps, I can sometimes get spoken directions over USB, but it's hit and miss.
  6. Thanks Rebecca. That sounds easy. Seems to me that re-downloading the phone book might be a good idea after a certain number of changes and keep auto downloading off in between might be the way to go.
  7. When I look up my vehicle on Ford ETIS, I find a reference to 14B03 - FUEL ECONOMY CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. I assume that means I will get an additional check! Amazing!
  8. So if I update a phone number on my iPhone, will that new number be there when I ask MFT to call that number? Or do I have to resynch my phone?
  9. Good point Frank. As a matter of fact, in my many trips to NJ from NC, it's just as far east as it is north. And to Cape Cod, the same is true. Hadn't considered wind.
  10. Can you-all stand another trip report? OK, 16 day trip from NC, with stops in NJ, CT, and MA (Cape Cod) Total miles driven 2580 Gas: 59 gal MPG: 44 But those stats don't tell the whole story. Going up, traveling mostly on I-81 and I-78, averaged 47 mpg. Northbound we didn't use A/C much but did go 70-75 on the interstates. Driving around in Cape Cod, got 49 mpg and 600 miles on that tank. But returning the 650 miles from NJ to NC and traveling at 70-75 mph more up than down and in hot weather using A/C, got 38 mpg. So, in short, temperature and speed do make a big difference. Also, the Cape is FLAT! I was quite pleased with the stats. BTW, my Maxy has 25000 miles on it and it's going in to the dealer for the restraints recall tomorrow. They're also going to look at the EVAP error codes which seem to pop up. I reported on my adventure with the check engine light from the Cape on this board. So, I'm a satisfied customer so far. Marty
  11. Update: took the car into a local repair place where they hooked it up and found the code for the Evac system which is what I got last time. It's reset now and I'll go into my dealer when I return. Obviously something related to the fuel pipe or similar. Thanks for the help.
  12. Thanks fitomoto. I brought up the diagnostic codes and there were so many that I had to photo them with my iPhone. In googling the codes I have none of the series that I can find like P101 etc. I have things like part number DM5T-EM and Core DM5T-AB etc. other screens show things like State Val #ofVS and off 0. 49. And on. 117 20. Not very meaningful to me. And Dave, I LOVE your suggestion. Marty PS. I'm averaging close to 46 mpg on this trip and over 48 on my current tank, approaching 600 miles!
  13. We are 1100 miles from home on Cape Cod and once again the check engine light is on. The car is running fine and I did already check the gas door. I can try to find a Ford dealer tomorrow, but am wondering if there's a way for me to reset it. Can anyone help? I did find a dealer listing in Hyanis which is not far from where we're staying and could stop in. Don't know how long they would make me wait. Any advice would be appreciated. Google search was not helpful. Q
  14. I'd like to add my vote that 1 is too hot. However, my wife doesn't share my butt preference.. :worship:
  15. I used Waze a while back and didn't find it that great...but, I understand it uses "crowd sourcing" to register traffic problems. But, Google Maps does work except that I can't use Siri to start it going. I imagine Waze would be the same. Nevertheless, I might give Waze another try. Thanks.
  16. I will certainly try this next time I'm in the car. Chris, when you say "connected to your stereo", do you mean by usb or by bluetooth? Or maybe it doesn't matter? How are things at GSP? We sometimes fly out of there in good 'ol Greer. Marty
  17. I agree that they are a bit too hot. I use mine to 1 only and then have to turn it off after awhile.
  18. I've had this question for awhile and have posted before, but never gotten a good answer. Here's another try: I use an iPhone 5s which is paired with MFT with bluetooth. When I use apple Maps, the turn directions are not relayed through the car's speakers. But with Google Maps, each spoken direction is treated like an incoming phone call, the direction plays over the speakers and then there's the little "call ended" line, until the next direction. So, my question is why? The advantage to me of using Apple Maps is that I can ask Siri for directions, whereas with Google, I have to go through an extra step. Would love to hear an explanation. Marty
  19. Here's a bit of an article I read today on a Mac site about CarPlay and QNX: Apple's newly unveiled CarPlay iOS vehicle integration system, which allows an iPhone to take over the in-dash display of a car, has been designed to work with BlackBerry's QNX operating system. The QNX Car Platform powers many in-car infotainment systems and includes a mobile connectivity framework that supports many mobile development environments, including iOS.
  20. I commented on this in the above thread already started about BB and ONX.
