I was thinking fuel injector , but what do I know so I asked chatgpt AI. Here is what I got back... It sounds like you're experiencing an intermittent issue with your 2017 Ford C-Max Energi, and the fact that the yellow wrench light appears along with engine clacking and power loss points to a possible issue with the engine or transmission. The fact that turning the car off and on temporarily resolves it suggests an electrical or sensor issue, though it's tricky without any specific error codes. Here are some potential causes and things to check: Battery and Electrical System: Since the battery was replaced recently, it's worth considering that the charging system (alternator, wiring, etc.) might be causing the issue, especially if the car's electrical system isn't functioning properly. Even though the dealer replaced the battery, other electrical faults (e.g., a failing alternator) could cause power loss. Throttle Body or Throttle Position Sensor: The clacking and power loss could be related to a malfunction in the throttle body or throttle position sensor. This could cause erratic engine behavior, and the system might be resetting when you turn off the car. A diagnostic scan might help here, even if no error codes are currently visible. Hybrid Powertrain System: Since the C-Max Energi is a hybrid, issues with the hybrid system (like the electric motor or hybrid battery) could cause engine performance issues. A hybrid-specific diagnostic tool would be needed to check this. Transmission Issues: The “clacking” noise could also be coming from the transmission, which might have an intermittent fault, especially if it’s related to the power transition between the gas engine and the electric motor. Sensor or Module Failure: There might be an issue with one of the many sensors (e.g., crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor, or fuel system sensor) or a module that's not throwing an error code but causing intermittent failure. A more thorough diagnostic might reveal this. Since the issue is intermittent and there are no error codes, I'd suggest having a Ford technician perform a deeper diagnostic scan, including hybrid system checks and possibly checking any updates for the car’s powertrain control module. It could also be worth checking the service history for any outstanding recalls or service bulletins that might relate to these symptoms.

Carplay on <= 2016 Model Years
homestead replied to jose_atx's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
My son upgraded his 2016 c-max energi to the latest sync version a couple years ago but I don't think he had to upgrade the usb hubs. If you are going from sync 2 to sync 3 I think the usb ports are upgraded on some models. He got the sync updates from a non-ford site. -
Must be an energi message, never saw that one on my hybrid. I bought our car in april of 2013 and it got great mileage all summer then when winter hit I noticed it would run forever before it would go into electric mode. Then I discovered turning the heater off or turn it down and use the seat heaters when the car was cold. After a couple of miles the car would be warmed up and could get some heat out with the ice running continuously. Even doing that I still took a hit on mpg's in the winter.

For starters, I would measure the 12v battery without the charger and see what it reads. Can you put the car in a garage and warm it up to see if the problem is temperature related? I've seen the hybrid battery that low a couple times but it didn't affect the operation.

2013 C-Max radio Module replacement.
homestead replied to Petri's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
(English) Hello forum, I am having a problem regarding the screen of my C-Max 2013 Hybrid, I just bought it and first of all I could not activate the BT sound and then the options provided by the buttons stopped working except for the power button. "menu" with the option to adjust menu and screen. Please, someone who knows how to use it, I ask for your help. Greetings and thanks forum -
Wow, amazing! How dirty was the transmission fluid at 150k? My daughter has my old 2013 SEL with 80k , and no repairs so far. My son has 2016 Energi with 85k and no repairs so far. Doesn't go as far on battery only though.

Heh heh, yeah good idea to do stretching exercises before doing that one. 😀

I would focus on the electrical problem first. You said "Seat has absolutely no power. Checked with volt meter etc. " Once you get power to the seat & motors you can see if the if the track has a problem. Good Luck!
-
Sounds electrical, maybe motor. lots of repair shops can work on problems like this. Call and ask them.
-
What happens when you push the button to move the seat? No noise or movement check fuse. If fuse is ok check electrical connector under seat for a pin(s) not making good connection. Some noise/movement but not normal movement check for something jammed in the track. If the track is really bad take it to non-dealer repair shop and ask them to use used parts from a salvage yard.

Dynch issues with phone and vers 3
homestead replied to Buggs1a's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
There are lots of used sync 2 modules for cheap on ebay from people that have upgraded to sync 3. If a bad module is your problem that would be a cheap way to go. -
Wow, do you drive the car when the cabin is 90-100? Does the AC function? Our radio died when we had a heat wave 110+ outside. Once the temps came down the radio started working again.
-
Another tip when replacing the 12V battery in rear of the car hook up jumper cables & 12V power source under the hood and you won't lose any programming in the car.
-
Wheel bearings, hope it's not the transmission.
-
I suggest... Just fully charge the battery first. Jumping the battery and short drives don't last if the battery was dead. After fully charging if you are still having problems take it to a battery place and have them test the battery, usually no charge for this. Then if the test shows the battery is bad replace it.

iPhone Bluetooth not work anymore
homestead replied to Buggs1a's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Do you have the sync app installed on your phone? check the prefs in sync app. Are you running IOS beta software on the phone? I think 3.10 is the latest version of sync for your car. -
Ev GUAGE GOES DOWN WHILE DRIVING THEN GET “Stop safely now” alarm
homestead replied to SK4109's topic in General Discussion
I guess I would suspect the wiring harness. What was the harness for? Would check voltage on the 12V battery. Maybe something is drawing down the 12v and the DC-DC is trying to keep the 12V charged which is draining the high voltage battery. -
What year/model c-max do you have? If it is 2013-2015 then you can also consider upgrading to sync 3.
-
Yes those are the same ones I bought. Just looked here.

I’ve seen them for sale on eBay. Compare that with online Ford parts dealer.
