what i meant about the 20yr old reference is that the"highway" mph is more in mind with the speeds of 20 yrs ago (55-65 mpg) when we all know current freeway/highway speeds are more on line with 65-85 mph (whether it's legal or not) but the EPA tests do not replicate this fact as it gives false expectations.

the issue is that its a brand new assembly line in USA with all new workers, tooling and machines learning how to build this car for the first time, so its a given to have several issues happen and that needed to be tweaked/learned (as I've seen working in manufacturing and quality for my 20+ year career).

Barrett if you go into the test mode, you can fix the upside screen down issue. search on the 351 thread as others had the same issue as you after they got the 351 update and the dealer failed to notice/check for this and verify the update worked perfectly.

i wonder if this also applies to the European models.

good job Adair.I'm sure that would be the limit but i guess you could try to force a new one at a 5th location (11 times on/off) and see if it keeps or replaces one of your 4 locations now when you drive back to/through it.

i would be very cautious of using super strong magnets (neodymium rare earth) as they for sure will cause issues and will also slowly erase your CDs that are inserted in slot in the dash above them.

so you would have to go over huge speed bumps or go up a hill at 60mph and then fly in the air and land on the other side of the hill and then you would hit your head due to the home on landing??? not sure how this applies esp with all the headroom in the car. even tall folks still have lots of room above their head when in a c-max so how would you get hurt if not for a rollover incident??

i don't think they can include fleet sales as part of the consumer sales numbers that are posted to show a cars popularity. they have to keep those separate right? Also if the sales were really bad i don't think the 2014s would be coming out.they would kill the model and move on. plus the opposite is true the demand was so high they couldn't keep up.

i know what i would have given you for a gift....a gas gift card. a $50 gas card is worth like $250 for a c-max owner with its 600-700 miles range. :)

don't they let you try it when you do the test drive? i would think it would be a key selling point to make it a no brainer.

you don't have to DRIVE to those locations 11 times, you just need to be there and turn the car on/off that many times. we don't know how many locs it holds but seems like 3 is the max. you are not going to do this all over your route to get better mpg.you need to use/turn on "eco cruise" to max your mpg on the highway or when you turn cruise control on.

yes you would think they would be the ones under scrutiny since there is a hole in the roof but maybe she to the panoramic roof they added more framing and support to increase the strength that was removed when you put a hole in the roof. we shall see. i wonder how they found this issue out. is there any test data on nhtsa about roll over for the cmax.I've only seen since impact vids on the cmax. maybe each mfg have to do their own testing and self report if you find it doesn't meet stds.

but those were not new advanced technology hybrids that the EPA test (now 20+ years old) was never designed to represent. the EPA needs to add a separate section of the test parameters if these hybrids are the subject car under test.

question..did you top the tank off after you got it from the dealer since you don't know if they really filled it all the way up this you would not know the true mpg if not computed from a full tank. btw, be sure to sign up on fuelly.com so you can track your mileage and share your info with us here.
