  1. sucks. i thought there were 2 sd cards for tunes and 2 usbs as well. if you take out nav sd can you use it for other use? do you use sd or usb for software/ updates on MFT (my ford touch)? thumb drives are risky for breaking off if u hit them. i prefer sds. btw what is the max size drive it accepts? 32 or 64 or 128 GB?
  2. how do you get your real/true avg mph if the display doesnt accurately count actual drive time? avg mph is critical to show %city/hwy ratio for reporting on fuelly.comcom
  3. on my passat only the front doors have the sensor in the handle to let you open with hand without using fob.
  4. parallel roads are know to cause lesser gps units to have the snapback/rubberband issue. it has to wait to know which road you are really on. remember gps accuracy us +/- 15 to 30 ft so if roads are close together it can cause issues, see here http://gpsinformation.net/main/rubberband.htm quoted text: Later in the trip I noticed that the arrow on the navigation was to the right of the highway we were on and the display read "off route". I haven't been on enough trips to say that this is a problem because the old highway runs parallel to the one we were on. Maybe the map is still programed with the old highway. Are these problems similar to problems that others have?
  5. this one amazes me with being 2013. come on its a gps capable car and u dont need to have old school antenna. why cant they use a shark type hump like on a bmw or audi or vw? these are normal now new cars.with this carb being from a euro design this doensnt make any sense why they did this!!! i love my vw Passat antenna hump i agree its old school ugly also a potential for someone bending it on you or in the car wash
  6. suggest posting this gps issue (and other known cmax issues even mft, etc) on the nhtsa site as a complaint so they gather the data. this has more power to get a fix if there are many people reporting same issue. companies with too many complaints get warnings to resolve http://www.safercar.gov/Vehicle+Owners
  7. this is a problem with many aftermarket gps units as well its called rubberbanding look it up sometimes map data is wrong.did u verify navteq? they have a site to report errors was there roads below ? gps thinks you are on other roads. sometimes it doesn't snap back to correct road. there are settings on some on the dash units like garmin to adjust this would think new cars
  8. only problem is that as cmax gets more popular, new owners like us will add to the fuelly stats and initail breakin data shows LOWER mpg so it may go back down unless current owners mpg outweigh new owners mpg average. with AVERAGE being used instead of MEDIAN, all data is skewed by the extreme low mpgs and high mpgs. i wonder if any one has taken/ downloaded all data points from fuelly and done the median mpg to see the difference. even one low mpg will skew average mpg whereas on median it wont if i have the time i can do it data/statistics are part of my job/career being a Quality Assurance Engineer ;)
  9. Dont forget the sample size for CMaxes are very small compared to the Prius (which has a very large sample size to the sheer # out there on the road) and most CMaxes on fuelly are still in their breaking period (<3000 miles) so mpg is skewed to the left for lower mpg. Once we get more CMaxes on fuelly and over a years worth of breakin on them we should see that climb
  10. yup always check in morn before going out. never check after driving. they warm up and increase psi which can cause overinflation
  11. i always find the dealers and stores mis-setting the psi either way over or not inflating at all when you go in for service! always re-check yourself
  12. but they did it wrong you cant do mpg one way on a north trip and then a different way on a south trip the hills are different so mpg is different they need to do the same test the same way point in the same direction to make it more exact (which it never can be)
  13. can you update your post to also show the invoice price of the SEL with 302A so there is a ref per edmunds: base MSRP price of SEL without options is: $28,365 invoice proce of SEL is: $26,451 True Market Price is $27,275 the 302A package is and additional: $1,798 invoice$2,015 MSRP$1,938 True Market price so you should figure to pay $29,213 for an SEL 302a without any other options
  14. Ahh yeah that helps not typical for us mortals. too much work but yes worth it if you can save $$$ good job just wondering if AAA and Costco are the same price or diff as we have both
  15. maybe because they new it was a brand new car and hot / high demand so no haggling usually on hot cars. This is why the AAA/Costco route helps to get Fair Market price and just over invoice
  16. This is when its good to use that "all windows auto down" trick with the fob so you can let some of that hot air out when you get in, then drive a bit with them down, then close them up and use MAX AC to recirculate the warm air till it gets close to your comfort temp (usually 72 or 73 degrees) and then use Auto AC as norm. lower the fan speed so it doesn't use as much of a load. Shut it off it you don't need it. Going below 72 deg will really put a load on your AC and make your mpg´s suck big time. you don't need to be THAT frosty!
  17. how much was it per day to rent the c m ax?
  18. i need to find the right reps at budget or avis/national. local ones are clueless and say they dont rent cmaxes. need to get one for a few days for sure.
  19. usually max ac is recirculated air not fresh outside hot air being cooled. it wouldnt thave to wok so hard to get cool if u use max for a while to get the cabin close to desired temp then use normal ac at low you should get better mpg but yes in hot hot places ac will kill mpgs
  20. question are the two sd card slots in the center console BOTH for owner content on a new car or does 1 have to be used up by the nav data card? it would be nice to have 1 card for my music and for my wifes
  21. wouldnt that defeat the whole purpose of having a cmax? as the beater in our case gets 17 mpg! the store is close by so using the cmax on Ev only is the idea around town right? yeah dor dings/scratches suck just got my 1st one on my Passat at the car wash! didnt notice it till the next day at work so couldn't go back and complain/prove it doh
  22. it was probably a jealous Prius owner :)
  23. Im surprized there is no DRL in this day an age. My Passat SEL has them as standard I guess european cars expect that since all the autobahn driving and its a safety thing which germany is high on
  24. Another poster told me to tell them i could wait for it to be moved to the local office, if i didn't care about specific dates for rental will see how that goes
  25. How did you know he was going to beat those prices if you didnt get those prices 1st which requires you to use the program and then contact a approved AAA/Costco dealer that allows no haggle pricing?
