Can we see the countdown to "Change Engine Oil Soon"
salsaguy replied to DaveofDurham's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
my Passat has the countdown to next service in days and miles and can be reset on the inside display menu. remenber folks even though this is a 2013 MY car they have to have all the design and tech and parts 3 to 4 years in the pipeline so any new car will always have tech that is not that current as you think (3-5 yrs old). that's just the way it is in the automotive manufacturing world. i worked for an OEM supplier for 2 years back in 1998 to 2000. -
Automatic Climate Control always on with car start
salsaguy replied to Hatchman's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
but shouldn't the manual buttons/knobs work the same as the soft digital buttons on the climate screen and duplicate/mirror the functions ? it's good you fixed it but to me it seems not right if that's the way it's programmed. many like old school buttons/knobs not touch screen. -
what page of the manual?

Rattles in Front Suspension
salsaguy replied to darrelld's topic in Brakes, Chassis, Park Assist & Suspension
instead of going back and forth with the dealer in the beginning why didn't you take them on a test ride together so they could have heard what you heard? -
I hate doing it but it had to be done...
salsaguy replied to Michigan Max's topic in Appearance: Detailing, Wash & Wax
clay bar removes the oxidation and debris that gets stuck in your paint without scratching it. makes it feel super glossy smooth again so you can wax effortlessly and bring back the new car shine. get a McGuiars kit for the whole package. recommended once or twice a year meguiars.com -
my 2012 Passat didnt offer the backup camera as the next year 2013 did. i inquired and found out i could get it added after with an OEM set-up since the head unit was already compatible so I'm going to do it. yes there is software flashing or setting to adjust to let it know it has the cam installed so it will work.so I'm sure the the Ford dealer can work something out for you in many cases if the wires are there. it is easier to fab a car to have it ready and just add the module if that option is ordered than having two different setups.

just wondering does the cmax have some tint on the stock SEL car and so if you add tint it will make it even darker? i know sometimes you have to go one shade lighter to compensate especially if you tint all windows including the fronts (as i intend to do and have done on my past two cars).

Test drove C-Max, Prius & JSW TDI
salsaguy replied to Testdriver's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
i believe the reason for the grabby brakes is for the regen brakes to work as well as they do. also many have commented that the brakes don't generate much brake dust compared to normal brakes. haven't test drove a CMax yet so looking forward to seeing for myself. -
which company? and do you have multi-car or multi-line discounts?

fotomoto, there is a Fuelly app you can log your info at the pump.

Would you buy the CMax if the advertised MPG was below 47/47?
salsaguy replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
there is already a thread here asking about insurance premiums for the cmax. do a search for it. -
one thing I love on my 2012 Passat is that tbere is a hidden small mini glove box on the drivers side just under and to the left of the wheek. perfect size for my wallet so i don't have to leave it on the passenger seat or sit on it and hurt my back/spine.

Could you ever go back to a gas engine only car?
salsaguy replied to catsailor's topic in General Discussion
I'm sure Toyota is working on an updated Prius right now to kill the C-Max and all its superior features for the value. Until then... CMax rules supreme :) -
I was looking for this but had lost it. here it is. Has anyone experienced this? spilled gas in their C-Max? This reviewer said that was the only way to know how they knew the tank was full by seeing the gas all over the floor under the car. This seems absurd. http://www.fordmpgfraud.com/toyota-prius-v-vs-2013-ford-c-max-fuel-economy-comparison-drive/ scroll down to the 1st pix of the c-max

Its only a short mention but check here for an article by National Geographic featuring the C-Max http://intelligenttravel.nationalgeographic.com/2013/05/08/packing-tips-for-healthy-road-trips-sswitz/ and her Facebook pix showing off her car and quote is here: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=454293947986805&set=a.356150251134509.80837.127146580701545&type=1&relevant_count=1

Most likely all that info absorbed will go out the window once they get in it and just want to DRIVE it and have fun and cruise, cruise with the tunes blairing and stomp on it at all the lights :) hence the 38 mpg :) but dont worry we wont tell. its understandable in such a cool new car

copied from C&D review: "Back in the real world, however, we ran a 67-mile out-and-back drive with the cruise control set at 75 mph, and the C-Max’s trip computer reported only 34 mpg. At 32 mpg, our overall observed fuel economy in the C-Max was even lower than the 35 mpg we saw from the last Prius V we tested." No way they are going to get 47 mpg going 75 mpg. The C-Max is known to not be as good at 75 mpg (or any car) because of its large face/high roofline if they lowered that to 55-65 they would have seen much better. CMax run in EV up to 62 mph +/- error of speedo Over that and its all ICE so of course it will get worse mpg and the higher coefficient of drag doesnt help. Also none of the reviewers are getting the benefits of EV+ where a normal owner would near their top destinations/near home running on all EV mode. And we dont know if they reset their lifetime avg before doing the test drive. Im sure that would setup a better fair playing ground

when you fill up what does it show for your average speed (mph) for the tank trip? im sure you avg more city than hwy driving to get those mpgs
