  1. not good. not another issue the cmax needs on top of the the dead battery and mpg issues.just wondering, was your cars build date a very early one, as many early defects are due to the assy folks just learning how to put the car together correctly and quickly which can create issues like this.
  2. I didnt know the Costco membership also helps with priority. I knew it helped with price. And didnt kno they let you combine deals from 2 memberships. We have costco and AAA. Congrats and good luck with your Cmax.
  3. this is why it's a good idea to stop pumping at 10.00 gallons to check to be sure the price on the pump shows exactly 10 times the posted fuel price, not any less.
  4. I wonder how many folks in general screw up their fuelly numbers numbers because they top off their tanks when filling up. Im sure the avg mpg would be better if they didnt mess it up. I usually go full speed (lock it on the notch) for 80% of the fillup, then go manually manually at 50-60% speed till it clicks off then thats it, I pull the nozzle. If you go 100 % fast till it clicks, the turbulent flow messes with your fill so last few drops of gas wont be accurate and it will shut off sooner than if you creep the last 1 or so gallon.
  5. hopefully you love Geddy, Alex and Neil of Rush Rush too. Finally they got into the Hall of Fame!!
  6. more 12v issues seen on the SE compared to the SEL and Energi can easily be determined as there are surely more SEs purchased since it is much less expensive than SELs or Energis. With hybrid owners looking to save $ on gas Im sure saving on on their cars out the door cost is also high priority. Also, not everyone wants leather, nav or backup camera, which the SEL and E have. Also Energi has very little cargo space so that will turn off many many buyers (like me), meaning lower sales sales of the E. Hope they fix it on the assy line for all new built cars and fast.
  7. best of luck in your long wait. your lucky you found a rental. sadly I struck out completely at all the rental agencies even with all the good advice here on the forums :( hopefully they will add some more cmaxes to the rental fleets here in so cal soon.
  8. thanks justacmax, finally got it. great info im sure many dont know about using the the simulated fresh air mode trick or that having dual climate temps be too much different in degrees from each other will hurt mpg. looks like Ford Ford wants to be open and honest and helpful. its new territory they are are breaking here so education is key. they should put that 4 pg flyer in each cmax sold as owner docs
  9. oh ok very cool. glad it does have that feature. at least you have a choice.sometime all 3 are the same route/result. does the eco route look for more of those 35-45 mph roads? or what have you noticed different? what service does the cmax use for traffic and map/nav routing? by "A3 card" I assume you mean nav update SD card version?
  10. does the platinum white stay cleaner and is easier to wax and will last longer (wont oxidize as fast) due to the clear coat? its nice to see them add that option as most auto makers give the shaft to folks who love white cars. my last 2 cars before my current one (now metallic grey) were white.i loved white as it kept the car much cooler in the summer and always looked clean, even when it wasnt. but i think the grey looks better as the chrome shows up better on the darker cars. not sure what color my wife will end up getting for her c-max.
  11. got it but sadly there are no changes for 2014. hmmm all cars usually have something new/better for the 2nd model year. i wonder what the price difference will be and if they adjust the mpg numbers any.
  12. its here but you have to be a member/logged in to get it http://www.fordinsidenews.com/forums/showthread.php?9291-OrderGuides-F-L-2014my&s=1c082dad320959b8fa26cda478302934&p=77962&viewfull=1#post77962 and here: http://www.fordinsidenews.com/forums/attachment.php?s=1c082dad320959b8fa26cda478302934&attachmentid=3834&d=1368583209
  13. true, but by that time there may not be any any of the SEL 303a left to get. we will see what happens. her SUV has a bad catalytic converter and gets under 18 mpg so thats a big motivator. the money for the new cat $2k to $3k can be used for the new cmax.
  14. I should add to my recent post... "...and also has the excellent cabin space for its passengers, can move it when you hit the gas, provides excellent handling, has a decent amount of cargo space, has excellent refinements and high fit and finish in the cabin, with lots of tech and maybe some wow/exceed expectations items (foot activated lift gate), all for around $30,000" i think most would be hard pressed to find a viable alternative to the cmax without major compromises in some/all of those categories.
  15. of interest, the cartoonish cmax commercials that began their campaign on tv (where they specifically compare and say they beat prius v for mpg), then were pulled for non-cartoon commercials showing real people and real car shots shots and dont talk about the prius, but just tout all the good on the C-max (maybe because of the low mpg controversy and bad reviews for mpg); but now the cartoon and anti prius ads are back today (during the Eastern conf playoff games between Miami and Chicago). saw them at least 2 times. either Ford isnt scared of the ads touting the 47 combined mpg,or else they know they can and will back up the numbers when the epa redoes the hybrid testing on the C-max.
  16. its unfortunate the cmax nav doesnt have a "eco route" option to help drivers get better mpg numbers. on my 2012 Passat nav it lets me choose from 3 routes: fastest, shortest and eco
  17. what alts are there for my wife who wants an suv like driving/seating position (up high) and gets good (>35 mi/gal) fuel economy? they dont have a 2013 Escape Hybrid. She is coming from a 1999 Toyota 4Runner Limited which does not get even 20 mpg and saving gas is a major concern in her next vehicle. Trips would be be much less than 25 miles miles each way. She doesnt like lower ride feel cars as much since she doesn't like to "drag her a$$ " as she puts it.
  18. i heard the 2014 model specs are out. where can we find them?
  19. my wife an i also want an SEL 303a option package and dont want old stock with all the bugs/issues from initial builds before the fixes started. i too am in so. cal. so please keep me informed i heard the 2014 guide came out. where can i find it to see the differences?
  20. actually i read in one of the forums here that the cmax likes 60-65 mpg better than 55-60 if you are using eco cruise mode. Many folks buying a cmax need to know or forget that if you drive mostly around town and short trips <45 mi/hr then a plug in is the best option for you(all ev). if you drive mostly city and some highway and trips are >10 miles then a hybrid is your best option. if you drive mostly highways at >65 mi/hr and take long trips >20 miles, then a diesel is your best bet, factoring cost of diesel of course.
  21. he means turn off AC but leave fan on. AC light will be off. to do this you have to turn it on, then press ac button to just use the fan only. AC surely lowers mpg as it has to use engine to power the ac unit to cool the air temp to your desired setpoint
  22. try here: http://www.stubbyantenna.com/Ford-C-Max-2013_c_229.html very affordable solutions. Ive used the H type before
  23. http://www.amazon.com/Rabbit-Passat-Short-Antenna-Rubber/dp/B007VT30Z0/ref=sr_1_3?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1368667167&sr=1-3 Guys, when I owned my 2004.5 VW Passat Passat GLX, it also came with a stock "fishing pole" long and ugly antenna on the top. I had the Onstar hump (1st year offered) and the long pole screwed into that. The BMW shark style antennas were just starting to come out and be popular.I quickly changed out the pole for a short stubby ("bee sting" was what it was called) type of antenna similar to (not exactky like) the one shown in the link above. This may be a better choice for those not wanting to go the shark fin route as the stubby one wont lose reception, at least I never did in my experience. There are tons of mfgs/vendors of these types of antennas so keep looking for one you like. You just need to make sure the threads are same and base diam matches cmax base diam so there is no visible step/bump where the 2 mating parts come together.
  24. Questions for all who had this issue issue (for me a soon to be / want to be CMax owner).... 1) Is there there any model/option package this issue DOESN'T apply to? (we are thinking of getting a SEL 303a package without sunroof) 2) for those who had to leave your car at dealer for >7 days and had a loan payment to pay each month (not a lease) did you ask to be repaid for the portion of monthly payment that you could not use the car, and if not is this feasible/possible to recoup from Ford corporate?? After reading this entire thread, Im not as excited to try and convince my wife to go Ford over Toyota for her next car.If we do get the CMax, I think special ordering one (to be sure all the latest software and best practices/lessons learned for manufacturing this car) instead of getting one from dealer lot (with potential major issues) may be the best bet. with all the negative publicity this car is getting for the "suspect" MPG numbers (im sure has more to do with driver method) Ford cant afford to have these dead battery issues on top of that. Lets hope they fix it for real and fast. 2nd gen CMax (US that is. I know this is 3rd gen for Ford all countries) may be looking like a better option right now.
