ptjones replied to ptjones's topic in Fuel Mileage
New Record! 48.8 mpg, by the end of summer I should be up to 49 mpg. :) EV percentage is up to 50.3%. This is Fun! Remember to post your current LifeTime MPG numbers. :yahoo: Paul -
From the album: 2013 C-Max
5/20/17 Life Time average 48.8 mpg -
Looked at Test Comparison of CMAX and NIRO part and with my experience driving my CMAX, New 2017 CMAX Titanium, NIRO FE,EX and 2 TOURING's, CMAX handles better and has nicer interior. Top of the line CMAX was cheaper than NIRO TOURING. CMAX is just more fun to drive period! :) I didn't see them driving them side by side like I did. :headscratch: Paul

How to Drive a CMAX Hybrid/FFH to get Great Gas Mileage
ptjones replied to ptjones's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
With warmer temps (80-90*F) speeds 40-55 mph and a bike on the back half the time, I'm getting 60.5mpg, with 230 miles on this tank. Using the info from these videos you should expect similar MPG's. :) Paul -

I was wondering if anyone has looked into a ECM Tuner for our Hybrids to improve fuel economy? :headscratch: Paul -
It wouldn't handle much weight, I have a bike rack on mine and sometimes it won't stay up all the way. Paul

Kelly Blue Book has it priced out at $13726 which doesn't take into effect that FORD Certify's it, 12 month extra Warranty and around 2% interest rate + Grill Covers :) . On AutoTrader prices seem to be all over the place, but average around $15k and very with mileage. :) Paul

I noticed that no one has replied yet and I was wondering what members think the CMAX is worth? :) Seems like a very nice car. Paul

After a week of use the two oil pan pads(375watts) is definately not as good as block heater and one oil pan pad(575watts), but it is far easier to install and it does work. :) Paul

How to Drive a CMAX Hybrid/FFH to get Great Gas Mileage

Up to 458 views for My YouTube Videos and 2013 CMAX MPG's on Fuelly have gone up about .5 MPG's. :) Paul -
I didn't have time to play with Smart Gauge, there are less number of displays and some of it has been moved to MyView. It does have Miles to Empty showing all the time at the bottom of the screen. I believe LifeTime Summary is gone. My dealer doesn't have any and closest one is 23 miles away. Paul

There is a 2014 CMAX Hybrid SE loaded with 13k mi. for around $17K at Mike Fitzpatrick FORD, my local dealer. It's Certified with available around 2% interest loan. They asked me to list it for them and I told them I would included a set of Grill Covers and Hybrid driving training too! :) Here is a Link; http://mikefitzpatrickford.com/Atlanta/For-Sale/Used/Ford/C-Max-Hybrid/2014-SE-White-Car/52247011/and you need to talk to Kevin in Internet Sales. If you need help, let me know. :) Paul

Wolverine Part# 3400063 ZEROSTART $58 on eBay. -
Last week I found out my ICE block heater was leaking and I think it has been doing it for sometime. I noticed two days in a row that the WT wasn't going up very much with the block heater plugged in and assumed that the plug had come undone. I pulled the cover off to find coolant dripping from block heater plug, the plastic piece in the center had started to allow coolant to get by it. It is such a big job to install a new one that I decided to put the old plug back in. I bought instead a 250 watt oil pan heater pad off of eBay to go with the 125 watt Model 9 Wolverine oil pan heater pad. I plugged it in this morning for an hour and a half and only saw 25*F rise in temp over OT. My WT did go up very quickly so apparently the hot oil warmed up the ICE fast. :) Now I only have 375 Watts vs 575 Watts before, but it still seems to be working fast. :) Paul

I wonder if FORD knew that so many CMAX Hybrids were coming off leases and they wouldn't be able to compete with them? :headscratch: It is curious that I see CMAXes all the time now. Paul

Just got back from trip using the A/C and it reminded me that the Radiator Fan is running all the time when A/C on. This effects gas mileage in two ways, one the fan and A/C pump use electricity from battery and second the fan lowers WT to below Operating temp for the ICE. BTW YouTube views are up to 400 now. :) Paul -
Mike when you shut off the 2013 CMAX in the Smart Display it will show you current trip numbers for approx. 10 sec. and then switch to Life Time numbers. You can toggle up and down with up and down arrows on steering wheel. :) Paul

That's bizarre, I had rear wheel bearing go too with low miles, but it was covered under warranty so no big deal. :) I have 154k mi. on it now so I got my moneys worth. I'll see if it makes it to 300k mi. :) Paul

And again FORD is pushing the Energi with Dealers. Paul
