  1. Is this the next version of the C-Max? Styling has changed. :drop: Sorry, could not resist. ;)
  2. I just heard last night that they are looking at making changes to the dash setup. Still a work in progress.
  3. I thought this was interesting. Looks like it is plug in only but compares all car makes. http://insideevs.com/monthly-plug-in-sales-scorecard/ Considering that the C-Max has not really had any refresh to the design the numbers are not too bad. Still as stated above the overall percentage of Ford sales is so small that it makes sense that Ford has not invested money to refresh it. I am sure they are focusing on the next generation C-Max and the full electric only Model E.
  4. Well, the pre-sales of the Tesla Model 3 is pretty incredible. I like the exterior of the car but the dash board, or lack of a dash board is really different. For me not in a good way. When I first saw this I thought it was a prototype and just not ready for production. I don't see having everything on a touch screen as a good thing. I like physical knobs that I can grab while driving and not have to look at a display. Some say it because the car will be doing the driving on it own. I guess we will see. The shape of things to come? http://www.teslarati.com/why-does-the-model-3-have-no-instrument-cluster/
  5. 37 does seem kind of low but not too far off of EPA ratings of 40 combined city/highway, MPG:42 and city and MPG:37 highway. Knowing how to drive this and temperature makes a big difference as other have said. Glad to see it in the list. It is a great car.
  6. There have been many causes and solutions posted here including some bad batteries. I did have the issue once and no problems since (knock on wood). I has been almost a year with no problems.
  7. I can't answer the question directly for a dealer but an independent shop generally will allow you to bring your own parts. I think it depends on the dealer. They do offer the product so they might say no. Any dealer or shop that allows this will generally add cost to the job. I worked at a shop for many years. The shop would look at it as we make money on our parts so if you bring your own we still want to make money on those. So it can be good for both if you can get the oil at a great rate. Generally parts are not discounted very well at the shop level. I could walk in off the street and buy parts for the same price as the shop paid for them. The benefit for the shop is that parts are delivered to them. Then the price is marked up I think it was 25% to the customer. You could also just talk to the dealer and ask them if they can do anything to get the price down some for you. Some will match competitive prices in the area too. I know it does not answer your question directly but I hope that helps.
  8. This post caught me by surprise. Read the title and I am thinking that the topic was about having a manual transmission in a C-Max.
  9. Thx for sharing the story. Always good to hear about problems and solutions especially issues like this where the symptoms are very different from a standard ICE vehicle. Hopefully back on the road for at least another 50K miles. :)
  10. Hi Everyone An episode of Autoline Detroit is reporting that Ford will come out with a new long range all electric car in 2019. They are going to call it the "Model E". Great name. Someone on the show suggested that the make the first batch of this car only in black. That would be a cool marketing trick. http://www.autoline.tv/journal/?p=41534 The next 10 years is going to really change the auto industry as we know it. There is another episode on there (a week or two ago) where they said the C-Max will end production in 2018 (I think it was 2018). This is really talking about ending production of this here in Michigan which was announced months ago. No talk though about production moving to Mexico. Kind of sounds like the next generation hybrid may not be called the C-Max.
  11. Mine is the same. Happens about 2200 RPM. Go above or below and it goes away. Mine is not that bad and not always there. As you said I think some are much more noticeable.
  12. I do remember years ago that this was a topic here in Detroit. Because of the exchange rate some were buying in Canada like we are talking about in this post. I also remember there was talk about stopping this from happening. I think some were having issues with warranty being serviced here on a car made for Canada. Just be careful.
  13. Congrats. Just came back from a 3000 mile trip in my pickup. Felt so good to get back in the C-Max again. Enjoy
  14. Thx for posting that. Interesting. There has been a lot of talk about this car in general. I have seen few times now that they are stating that the Prius can now drive up to 25 MPH on electric only and can do so for up to a mile. Funny I just drove to my voting location and back the other day on all electric. It is not that far, less than a mile round trip but I was going more than 25 MPH doing so. Not the first time I have done this. My record is about a mile on all electric on main roads.
  15. 128K miles is a lot of miles. So you put on about 50K a year? It is a fun car to drive and I will miss it on this trip. I only bought the truck to pull a boat which I have sold now. Still might sell the truck at some point but it is nice to have it for hauling sometimes. Also the resale is pretty good on them. At least until fuel cost goes way up again.
  16. That is quite the trip and great mileage. I am going to be driving to Florida. About 3000 miles total. I love driving the C-Max but I put on over 20K miles last year. Part of that was a trip to Atlanta and the mountains. I also have a Chevy pickup and put on about 2500 miles a year on that. Because of that and the low price of gas I will be taking the truck. I would rather drive the C-Max but don't want the miles to climb up too fast.
  17. That is a long time. Did they give you a loaner? Sounds like they are looking it over real good which is good. Good luck.
  18. Nice post Marc I figured about 5 years too for payback but that was comparing to the cost of my old Scion xB to the C-Max. Of course fuel prices have went down but the C-Max is a very different car from the xB too. Not really a apples to apples comparison. $16k for the Scion and $22k for the C-Max.
  19. I like what I see and what others have said here. Nice car!
  20. Does not sound like anything more here than a bunch of information about the car that is out already or prototypes they talked about. Ford said the new redesign will be a new car from the ground up. I don't think this is the car. The pics with the new front end have a Euro plate on it which is the current model in Europe. Maybe these changes will come as a 2017 model but this is not the car we are waiting for.
  21. Mine did get a little better over time but it was not a major change. Warm weather will help a lot but driving style does even more so. 10 mile trip to work this morning at 10 deg was about 42 MPG. Warm weather can get 50 to 60 mpg for this same route. Best MPG for this was 77 MPG. Major city route that takes about 30 min. Hope that helps.
  22. I am not a fan of the Prius but I do think they made some nice improvements to the interior. I actually think the exterior is better too. Still not my favorite. Of the reviews I have seen they seem think it is quicker off the line. I think they are saying that the 0 to 30 MPH is faster. The overall refinement of the car in general is better too. Stiffer to give better handling but they also say this is no sports car.
