  1. Thx for the nice write up. I am hoping that Ford will have a similar replacement for the C-Max but I could also see them aim more at the Prius size. I like the taller, more SUV size of the C-Max. Good to see there are other cars coming out that are like this if Ford chooses to do otherwise.
  2. My co-worker showed me this yesterday. Not sure if they were trying to push the C-Max out of the way? Thx for posting.
  3. Took the car to the dealer. Turned out to be an open connection on my right front turn signal issue. So it was covered by warranty. Not sure where the open was but they removed the headlight to work on it. Nice to have it fixed again. Dealer did a nice job of taking care of my list. :)
  4. I think the main lighter plug on the console shuts off within 5 mins of shutting down the car.
  5. Just took the car in for a list of concerns. Getting close to the end of standard warranty ~33k miles. One issue i stated was minor brake noise on the right rear in the morning while driving (no brakes applied). This was really minor but thought I would put it down on the list to have it looked at. They ended up resurfacing the rotors in the rear. Said I had lots of pad left.
  6. WOW, Thx for sharing. I did not think the system is that bad although I have had some issues. But on the other hand it was a $800+ system upgrade on my SE. With nav I think was $2k or $3K? When this new Sync system came out years ago I remember many people were talking about how leading edge Ford was. Maybe it was a little too soon to come out. Glad that the new sync 3 seems to be pretty well received.
  7. Tires on Amazon now. I guess it was a matter of time. Maybe I should have looked to see if they sell the C-Max there yet. ;>) Price does seem cheap. Not sure if I would trust these with not having a spare. I like Michelin tires a lot. Had those on many cars over the years.
  8. First I have heard this one. Shutting down the climate control is not something I would worry about if you forget to do it. I do not shut mine down much and have not had issues because of this. That should all shut down with the car turning off.
  9. I have not looked at this setup but if it is metal you can tweak (bend) the guide or clip to help it stay in place. I have done this many times on older cars. Might be all plastic now? Let us know what you end up doing. Good luck
  10. I use bluetooth and I like the quality. Audio playback has been good but I also have been getting stuttering sometime in recent months. I was hoping that the update would take care of that. Some days are good, others not so much. I can sometimes just pause the program on my MFT for a few seconds and then it is OK. Sometime not though. I removed the SD card and dumped my contacts on the MFT but the issue is still there sometimes. I found a post that stated that the contacts can sometimes cause memory issues. Lately it has been OK. I don't use the SD card much for music but that seemed to work fine too. I don't remember it trying to reindex. My last car did not have bluetooth. I used a bluetooth to FM convertor which worked but the quality was not the best. It was fine for Podcasts but music was just OK.
  11. Thx for the tip. That sounds like one I would like to use.
  12. WOW, 1,000 + miles on a tank. Pretty incredible. keep us informed of your trip and your tricks too. Maybe someday I can hit 800 miles on a tank.
  13. I don't like to use ad blocker software as I want to site to make money from me. Should be a win/win for both the user and site owner. They have costs too. The new side pop ups are taking this to a new level. I had to reduce the size of the posts or the pop ups would cover the text. It is when things like this happen that makes more people want to use ad blocker software or just don't use the site at all. I am now thinking of installing software myself. I think these side pop ups are taking this too far.
  14. I wonder what Costco uses? They always talk about the benefits of their detergent gasoline. Not sure if they just buy based on cost or do they have deals with a brand of gas? I looked for result in the report but I did not find the brands they tested.
  15. OK, I was able to squeak in 700 miles this time. Lifetime mileage has hit 48.5 MPG too. :)
  16. I agree that testing the battery should be the first step. If the test shows that the battery is good then proceed with other testing. Sounds like it is a good chance that the battery is bad. Early C-max's (both SE and SEL's) had drainage problems. More SE's than SEL's were reported here but all models did. the problems were many different things including a wiring harness. So hard to tell but if you are current with the recalls then this would point more to the battery again. But you never know. Good Luck
  17. I like the idea but I am sure there is much interest in that. Seems like this forum traffic is less than in the past. Maybe a forum sticker? Is one already available?
  18. You might want to look for service bulletins on this. I had this same problem with my Scion xB and Toyota eventually offered repair or reimbursement of the cost.
  19. Thx for the post. I think I will let the dealer do mine. Still under warranty so I think this should be covered. Too bad it is so difficult to change. I thought they were getting better at thinking these things through.
  20. If you do this, show us a pic. I would like to see it.
  21. Sounds like a fun trip. I just started getting back into biking a little this year. Is the trip going to be updated on the internet along the way? I would like to follow. Good luck
