Well I've got over 14k so I guess I'm almost there?
-
Hopefully, if not I'll try again

Here are the latest pictures with the input from Susanne. I think this is what she was talking about? Sunday will be my first attempt to drive with this new positioning. More later :)

No actually it is metal just like the roofline up to the glass panoramic roof

Not right that Ford chose to only share this with Energi owners. Should work on either car as I see it.

STATE FARM new Drive Safe and Save program
mtb9153 replied to catsailor's topic in General Discussion
Too much personal data collection for my comfort thank you. Big Brother is watching enough as it is already. Our society is becoming more and more like a military run program than I care for. -
Thanks for that comment ArizonaEnergi, nice to know. I love having these rare-earth magnetic GasPods while we tweak the positioning for the sweet spot. I moved the black GasPods 4 times and it was a pain to have clean all the residual adhesive off both the Pods and the CMax and then reinstall another application of the 3M gel adhesive which costs me about $5 at Target for a roll each time. Thank you Susanne for the white set. With each gas fill up I'm of course recording my numbers to Fuelly.com. Is that going to give you the data you need for your research? Or do you need me to supply more info?

Okay I just removed the black GasPods and being on the glass, they came off easily. After use of Goop Off the residual jell adhesive came right off with a final cleaning of Windex. So I will be moving "ALL" 9 white GasPods to the rear spoiler as Ford calls it on the Liftgate? Correct? Starting at the center and spreading across the full width of the spoiler about 1 to 2 inches from the edge? Correct?

From what Suzanne has told me there is no problem with the rare earth magnet GasPods staying on the car when going through a car wash. They have a strong hold once contact is made with the painted surface. But not so strong that you don't have control over their placement as some might think.

I rarely fill at Costco since the closest one which sells gas in my area is across town. Plus when I am over there I never need gas. There is a Super Safeway near me which pumps gas and their prices are very close to Costco which is why there is always a huge line and why I never go there for gas.

R U saying the Energi has a gas tank door which only opens from inside the cabin when a button is pushed? If so why isn't it on the Hybrid model, Ford?
-
Susanne I'm not sure I follow what you are suggesting with the red "X"'s? I think you are saying remove those Pods and place them down lower on the lift gate spoiler? But only on that one side (Drivers side?)

Jus I'm not using Premium, when I did results just weren't worth the extra cost.

Salsaguy, interesting thought about the double GasPods which I had not considered. As for my Fuelly.com signature not linked from the forum? I have no idea what is wrong. I have contacted Fuelly.com asking for their assistance. Sorry for the problem linking my account.

I was watching a demo video for the Tesla Model S, and one of the features it offers is that the driver can switch on the rear camera to view out the rear on demand in forward motion by swiping a switch on the cool 17 inch screen. To me that seems like a worth while function on the CMax. Next question is how to do it? Is there a way to override or extend the camera viewing capability to include forward motion on demand?

Good input guys, thanks. Enjoyed seeing your driving style RaPieR

Everyone reading this thread, just wanted to say that I'm still playing around with the positioning to see where it might give me the best results. Because most of my driving is in town and because I always run with my A/C on my results might not be the best. Also as you all know I'm struggling with maintaining even 40Avmpg. My biggest down fall I think is my lack of being able to execute good braking scores. I get a few 100% if I really work at it and then along comes a 95, 93, 90 or even a 87. Each time doing what I think is exactly the same effort that got me a 100% previously. Plus I'm still struggling with driving techniques and anticipating signal light changes. That probably is my biggest downfall next to over reacting when some jerk does something stupid in front of me. That one I feel I will never improve on since I have had a string of bad luck, years back with accidents. So I'm very fast on the brake to avoid another incident. Jus I tried the 2 bar technique you outlined over the last few days and it just isn't doing much for me I'm afraid. But I will keep trying to master it. Suzanne if you are monitoring this do you think it is a bad idea for me to place the first black GasPods I bought from you on the leading edge of my glass roofline? Maybe being out in front of the rare earth magnetic GasPods is disruptive to what they can do at the rear of my CMax? I have attached the latest pictures once again so you can analyze them. Possibly their placement is to close together and should be spread out more evenly across the roofline like in the rear? Lastly I will add that my last two tanks has significantly dropped with overall mileage. My current tank which is at 1/4 remaining will come up far short of even earning 500miles. I'm presently showing 377miles with 111 miles before empty. My fuelly.com graph chart also has taken a downward spiral to it's lowest level since I joined. I have managed at least 500miles on the last half dozen tanks, so this one is very discourging. I look forward to any input...

+3 Golfer, thanks for the message good input. Will look into one of these at a O'Reilly's near my home. Also there is a close by Harbor Freight I might check at as well.

Jus, that is exactly what I needed, thanks for clearing the fog :) I will try this today during my errands. Cheers

Improve CMax underside aerodynamics?
mtb9153 replied to mtb9153's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Joe, good thoughts thanks for sharing. Since I feel these mods would have little affect since I never drive fast enough to do much good by doing this. I confess I want to do it more for the racy look it would provide. I have always been into making my rides look high tech and go for the "Wow" factor. Cheers. -
Ok Jus when you make reference to 1 bar or 2 bar, I'm not following what that is? To quote someone before me I need a picture of what you mean by that. Call me stupid but verbal instructions don't work well for this owner, never has all my life. Maybe it is because I'm left handed? Lefties do better with visible props I like to call them.

sounds like you bought the right package then...

Frigg'n bugs are a pain. Does power wash take them off well without damaging the finish/shine? I don't like to scrub them off on painted surfaces because it can scratch and dull the paint if you do it too hard. Was wondering if a high pressure attachment on my garden hose would work as well? Certainly allot cheaper than a power washer.
