  1. Hard to see in that picture. Can't really say since I didn't go with one of those shark fin replacement antenna's. Is there some sort of metal plate or a metal surface underneath the shark fin cover which might be rusting from moisture exposure? Oxidation possibly? Clay bar might remove it, worth a shot. Good luck, keep us posted if you find a solution.
  2. Interesting thought kostby, I'm not sure if it would have helped?
  3. Yes it was a valiant effort but not to be it seems  :banghead: thanks Frank now if I could just convince my wife it was worth the effort and the $100 for nothing. :rant2:
  4. I want to conclude my findings from the tuft testing I've been doing both with and without a rear spoiler in place. I conclude after spending $100 for a piece of custom cut acrylic that there is NO benefit to installing a rear spoiler anywhere on the back of a CMax. My tests showed erratic behavior of the tufts placed on the rear glass across the rear hatch and below across the bumper. In fact with the spoiler placed under the rear glass the tufts across the glass got even more active in their movement to the point where they were twisting themselves around the tape which secured them to the car. With the spoiler it did nothing to clean the air flow over the tailgate and the rear bumper. This leaves me to think that the only way to possibly clean the flow of air behind a CMax is by developing some sort of rear air diffuser to refine the flow of air coming out from underneath the car. I'm shelving the idea of a rear spoiler as a functional piece of equipment. I see it would only be a piece of eye candy for giving your CMax a sportier look if that appeals to anyone.
  5. Wish I could say the same, I'm barely holding on to 43avmpg. Been hot so A/C stays on constantly.
  6. Hummmm not sure but it will come to me I'm sure. Right now I'm currently involved in the design of a rear spoiler to be located under the rear window. Which I hope will help with cleaning the air flow behind our CMaxes and assist in keeping the rear tailgate cleaner. ;)
  7. I feel the fit is perfect, just be sure to select the right one. Depends on whether you have the premium sound system with CD Player at the top of your dashboard as I do. Covers are the dash top from one side to the other. reaches into both the small window pockets on either end of the dashboard. Also an opening for the auto headlight dimmer. I bought a black carpet cover since the dash is black. But bottom line there's no more glare off the dash into the windshield. I will take some more pics later today and post them for you.
  8. I for one agree with what Nvstig8tr is saying because allot of the acronyms just buzz past my ignorant eyes since I guess I'm less informed than most of the more technical brain-yacks here on this forum. I've been thinking about printing out the list so I can refer to it when an acronym stumps me which is allot of the time. But hey I'm an old fart of 61 these things just buzz right past me except for the obvious ones. But I did figure out ICE on my own :lol2:
  9. Veeerrrry impressive Brother Jus but coming from you I'm not surprised. Ok nuff said. The wife and I are kicking around a trip to the southland in Maxus. Probably in late November or early December. It is a trip to visit the Mousehouse which we have not been to since 2007. But also hopefully to get some training from the master of MPG at a time and place to be arranged with you once we can pin down our arrival time. :worship:
  10. not a problem with Maxus since I didn't tint my windows
  11. Paul, is Batteries+ an automotive chain store or are they only located near you? Wondered. We have a chain of stores here with the same name but I don't think they sell automotive batteries. Curious.
  12. Maxus is proudly displaying the two round stickers in the small windows on either side of the windshield. Seemed like the perfect place for them along side my two small GoPro decals. I love that they are static cling style decals since I tend to reposition things allot. Wish they were in the colors shown on each of my posts but understand why Ford chose to make them all white. Each color costs more when printing the decal I found with doing tee-shirts
  13. I tried my new custom cut piece of acrylic on the tailgate at the bottom of the rear glass. It seems to cause a very erratic behavior of tufts placed on the glass above the spoiler which were pretty stable without the spoiler so it seems to have a reverse affect. Not sure this is the answer to the dirty air problem behind a CMax.
  14. Interesting research Paul, I'd definitely like to know whether this would work as a replacement to the factory battery and more CCA to go along with it. Couldn't hurt folks in really cold venues during the winter months.
  15. Got a third call from them tonight asking if I'd be a part of this focus study, again I said no but they seem to have a problem with understanding. This is being held at a local hotel it is not a phone survey which is why it takes 1.5hrs to complete
  16. Has anyone anywhere got a phone call asking to talk with the primary CMax owner? I got a call on Monday asking me if I was interested in taking part in a 1 hour and a half session answering questions regarding my use and satisfaction as a CMax owner. This would be a paid session and at the end I would get between $125 to $200 just for hanging around and answering their questions. I was asked what my income was monthly? When I declined to give that information I was told I would not be allowed to be part of this research session. Within an hour I got another call asking if I'd be interested in being a part of this? But I didn't answer the phone and they left a message on my answering machine. Just curious if anyone else has been approached. I asked if this was sponsored by Ford? They said no it was being conducted by a private investigative research team.
  17. Very Very nice scottwood2 I love the stealthy look and the black on the wheels a big  really goes well with the all black paint.
  18. Ed since our last conversation the camera is on a FedEx truck for delivery on Monday, so at least the package is in town sitting on a truck. The wait is almost over :camera: :happy feet: :victory: :spend:
  19. Sorry Laurel yours is lost, I'm sure it will turn up given enough time. :mail: and reminding them from you.
  20. This link shows the pricing of the various tire kits they offer https://www.dipyourcar.com/Kit-Wheels-cat/ I would think is allot less than powder coating
  21. Interesting thought Paul, might have to ponder how that could be done and get good results. That would really get locals looking at me. The strands of yarn had drivers scratching their heads as it was. Only the performance minded drivers understood what I was trying to do.
  22. Fbov I remember that commercial I'm sorry to say, guess that means we both have been around for awhile?

brand spanking new! how nice, Thumbs up on the new CMax
  24. I have ordered from Tap Plastics a new piece of clear Acrylic which will be custom cut to attach to the rear glass with 3M gel adhesive just under the windshield wiper and run across the full width of the glass. I did some tuft testing today using some red yarn I bought at Michaels craft store. I took video using my GoPro 3 on their suction cup mount which by the way fell off while driving. Much to my horror as I saw in my rear view mirror as it was being run over by the car behind me. This is why you should never hang your expensive GoPro outside your car without being inside the clear plastic housing it came with. When I came back to pick up my camera, I found the front cover of the housing totally smashed with the lens cover shattered to pieces, but the camera inside was still filming believe it or not? I did break the small LCD screen on the front of the camera, but hey! the camera still works. I put the camera in my backup housing and good as new...WHEW!! :clapping: When I get the footage edited I will post it to this thread. I did notice quite a bit of erratic movement of the yarn strands I taped to Maxus across the bottom of the rear window. They were all twisted around themselves when I got home so it appears there is a great deal of dirty air turbulence across the bottom of my rear window. The only strands which seemed to stay relatively under control at freeway speeds were the ones I attached to the middle of the rear glass. Even the ones across the rear bumper just below the liftgate were pretty messed up while driving in the 40-45mph range on surface streets. Was a good test but messed up my GoPro.
  25. Ed I wish you better luck with getting an email that says "Your order has been shipped" I purchased a new professional video camera for my video business (i.e. Canon XA20) They told me it was shipped on the 3rd of September, I'm still waiting. Now they say it will arrive next Tuesday...fingers crossed. Good luck to you with your project.
