They sell a pre-dip spray which can be used to prep your wheels for coating with Plasti-dip here is a link... https://www.dipyourcar.com/Pre-dip-spray-catagory/ when used I think this stuff smells terrible, but it really works well to prep for painting plasti-dip

I doesn't take much to melt this stuff off your stock or any rims. There is an instructional video on plasti-dips website which shows the best way to touch-up areas which have come in contact with everyday driving and damaged the finish and you don't want to tear it all off and start over. Here is the kit for fixing tears or rips https://www.dipyourcar.com/search.php?mode=search&page=1&keep_https=yes

Navigation location inaccurate
mtb9153 replied to anilruia's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
I can't even use my Nav anymore. It has gone totally bonkers. Never works for very long any more. The phone service, half the time it won't take or make a phone call. Piece of junk and need it replaced by my dealer. Just haven't done anything about it yet. -
Yes I decided against ordering his spoiler, the design just wasn't aggressive enough for me to think that it would improve the turbulance issues on the back of a CMax.

sweet looking pics from my home lone star state. Texans think alike also I was born in Pasadena right off Spencer Highway, I have the exact same CMax, color and everything

I'm pretty certain it's mostly the driver's fault, I still have much to learn Obi Wan :worship:

Trade it in??? Laurel what are you thinking? Just kidding, I'm sure you guys have good reasons for considering this.

Brother Jus, I keep finding big huge Magnolia tree leaves under my hood. I find them sticking out between the hood and the front fender allot. It can be a mess under there. ;)

Plasti-dip the fog light housings to a different color? Possibly would be nice. How about one of the fluorescent blaze colors? Not! Possibly white would sort of blend in with the platinum white paint on Maxus. As for the Monsoon rain we really need it. If this coming winter turns out to be as dry as the last two winters? I don't know what we are going to do for water. Allot of areas of CA are either rationing water or considering it. Most of our lakes and streams are dry. Those lakes that aren't are very low, well below half empty. CA only gets its water from winter rains and mountain snowfall. It is quite grim right now.

Thanks for the description Smiling Jack thought those were rivets but was afraid to try drilling them out without being sure. Might look into this down the road.

Well now I'm not sure I'm going to do it since I'm reminded that the tuft tests shows very little need for laminar flow improvement at the top of the hatch. Somewhere lower or at the bottom of the glass appears to be the area most needing improvement. But I haven't come up with a good design for that portion.

All all Energi owners... blase'?
mtb9153 replied to Kelleytoons's topic in Sightings - C-MAX Hybrid's Spotted!
I have found here locally the same thing. Owners are not open to making small conversation about their CMax. Seems most just think of it as a way to get around more efficiently. I come from a background of unique previous cars and being in car clubs and car shows. I love to compare and make talk with other enthusiast's. -
Thanks ScubaDadMiami I will give your tips a try. I would love to hit a 700 mile tank, but having enough trouble just getting a 600 mile tank.

Interesting where did you find that CMax crest? Also how did you relocate the license plate holder? I wanted to remove mine all together but couldn't figure out how it was mounted? Looks like some rivets holding it in place. The dealer installed it before I took ownership since it is required in CA to have a front plate. But I hate it. Worth the fix it ticket for as long as I can get away with it.

Looking good MaxC thanks for the pic and checking in. What's that you have mounted on the main front grille? Some kind of badges? Interesting. Have a great day in the high dessert region, we are having some warmer weather here in the south bay area. Some clouds I think from the Mexican hurricane remnants. Just wish we could get some monsoonal rain from it, we SURE need it here.

just might do that sometime if it could be planned for all parties to be available. "Help me Obi Wan Kenobi your my only hope" for mpg greatness. Sorry a little Star Wars humor :worship:

Ha! don't I wish anything that's an improvement from my usual low to mid 40's and I'm happy. Just wish I could rack up some 50's or 60's but that's a pipe dream I'm afraid.

Good luck MomsHugs, on my last fill up afterwards thought I had a good run going with over 100 miles before the first quarter tank was spent. But not I'm not so sure it is going to be much of a tank since I'm creeping down towards a half and haven't seen good numbers so I'm wasting the tank I'm afraid. After resetting my fuel management at first I saw great numbers in the 60's and 50's. But with each start from a stop the numbers quickly fell away to as low as 40.0 only rise up again to 43's. Both has since fallen off again. This has been the story of my life. Maxus just doesn't hang on to the numbers and I don't know what I'm doing wrong or can improve upon? Very frustrating. Most of my daily driving in around town and on flat roads within the city. One thing which is eating away at my mileage is my constant need for AC running in the Auto setting at 69-70degrees. I'm hot by nature and have to run the AC most of the time, plus the last couple days we have been hovering in the high 80's to near 100. Guess I'll just never figure out this 700+ tank game???

Looking at the attached picture, that is not what I had in mind. My idea was just to construct an extension of the factory rear spoiler which I feel falls short of it's intended purpose. I guess I was not aware that the tuft tests which have been done showed no area off the rear spoiler for improvement. The picture shows an extension of the cars shape in the back into a much longer car which I don't have any desire to do.

Ok thought it was about time to reopen this thread again. I've got a new design idea for creating a rear spoiler on Maxus or any CMax for that matter should this go into production. Before I was trying to mount a spoiler below the rear window. But decided the problem with dirty air behind a CMax is at least partly due to the design of what Ford refers to as a rear spoiler. It just isn't enough. So my idea is to fabricate an extension to the factory spoiler. My thought is to have a custom cut a piece of acrylic that follows the same contour as the trailing edge of the factory spoiler. What I mean is follow the curvature of the trailing edge of the factory spoiler directly above the third brake light. I propose my spoiler as an extension extending back at least another 5 or 6 inches with a slightly steeper rake angle to catch the air coming off Fords spoiler and forcing it to follow a different path further back so the air flow hopefully will reduce the air cavitation or turbulance vortex behind the CMax which causes so much dirt to buildup on the rear window, rear bumper and tailgate. My extension will be supported using vertical pieces of acrylic which will attach to the glass using the same removable 3M Gel adhesive that AeroHance uses on their non magnetic gaspods. I sort of took this idea from a wing I saw on a tricked out Mini Cooper which I will post a picture of later when Photobucket is back up from maintenance. I might design this to have different set points which would allow different wing angles. We'll see how things go as fabricate the prototype. To be continued...

this would make it allot easier when I want to help out a homeless person and it seems we have plenty here in the sillycorn valley. I'm going to steal the idea. Without the peanut butter I should clarify. :lol2:

Well I really appreciate the comment. I do go in for a custom look that speaks my love for great looking cars and uniqueness. Now if I can just come up with a decent design for a rear spoiler or wing. Still working on that one. :headscratch:

Plus I wanted the window decal :lol2:

JUst had to post this even though it isn't true since it wasn't long after re-setting my fuel setting.
