Its been a full week with Maxine and I am HAPPY TO REPORT she's as good as new. I cannot find any new fault with the car...even the odd quirks are still there, as oddly as I am happy to report. My morning commute is city, going up to the low 70s MPG now even in the cold of winter with temps down to 30F and when I jump into the car its a cool 45-49 and she parked on the driveway now. Wifey has too much crap in my garage parking spot which she is going to clear out and I noticed that this has lowered the MPG somewhat with 0.06 burn instead of 0.03 or 0.04. It adds up. Coming home, its 1/3 city and the rest in the freeway but I am having to drive around the traffic. Ending the day in the high 50s MPG isn't too bad and temps remain around 49-50F when I return to the driveway. I forgot how sensitive this car is to the lower temps... Also after 2 months, the LAPD report has finally came thru...cause of accident was the driver who rear ended me & another car due to his excessive speed and get this, arrested for dui influence...my atty is going to have a field day with this. I am still at the 99% range in my recovery and I still have tingling in my thumb and finger which was not there before the accident so no golf until this has subsided. It pains me to twirl my new 9.5 SLDR with the 60 x5ct s-flex Diamana Ahina ION shaft (specially mentioned for wab's semi-pro buddy) with my fingers. Both good & bad...cause I can't play but I can drool.

Reports for LONG Holiday trips in your C Max
Jus-A-CMax replied to catsailor's topic in General Discussion
285 miles one way, 800ft elevation to 7,800 ft elevation. If I get 38MPG getting there, I will be happy. I think everyone knows where I am heading....now coming back is PAYBACK though as I am usually 50+. Avg for the entire 570 mile trip is usually 43 to 46 MPG. -
Welcome to the forum Rebecca....its wonderful to have an official Ford representative here alng with Ashley :)

Bought one of these: ACCUTIRE Programmable Digital Tire Pressure Gauge LCD Display MS4021B 5-150PSI from Fleabay. Jus got it tonight and I :flirt: it. Simple, easy and accurate. ...but going back to my original Q, I'll answer it myself - neither was accurate. The cheapo was the worse, almost split it down the middle between the CMax pump gauge and the el cheapo. I am happy, this thing rocks! PSI is 50 now. I need all the help I can get with the colder weather and all.

I HAVE FOUND THE ILLUSIVE MPG SWEET SPOT!
Jus-A-CMax replied to Generalbeluga's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
You're good Macgyver, glad you're pumping this info to share with the rest of us, much appreciated. I'll put it to the test when I do my runs. Theres 3 of us on this forum whos roughly in the same area: GaryM, you and me. Beauty about that is that we say this XXX freeway, or Conejo grade, we know exactly how that road goes....except Sherwin grade ;) -

Tujunga is nothing compared to Sherwin. The 14 between Sand Canyon and Acton is more slope than Tujunga also but I only hit that on the way out to Mammoth usually. Yeah, even my wifey KILLS my MPG as well. Thanks Macgyver...not trying to give u a hard time, its jus me.... "Blip" question is still open to SDM and others... ps if u want a name change, we can do that too...lol... ;) -
I HAVE FOUND THE ILLUSIVE MPG SWEET SPOT!
Jus-A-CMax replied to Generalbeluga's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
SDM & others. R u guys "blipping" the eco or r u letting it cycle between the EV & recharge ICD modes automatically? Macgyver = 65 mph up hill is tough to swallow personally, given my last experience climbing the Sherwin grade which is a long a$$ haul up, north of Bishop,CA really KILLED my drive MPG numbers by a lot vs 2 bar uphill and holding the acceleration there. Anyone else can back up and repeat Macgyver's finding? -
Ugh. I just finished arguing with my insurance about "Betterment & Taxes". Apparently, if they replace the tire, you the insured, can be due betterment and taxes on top of the deductible. Check your policy wording. Luckily mine was on for the tire that got destroyed and it was 10%. Not much in the light of things but it took a few days and calls to figure out "what the hell is this...."

Navigation package satisfaction?
Jus-A-CMax replied to lpr's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Thats dissappointing to hear. The wayward GPS is a very, very old issue - see Post #21 for the link to the thread where several of us here had Ford replace the GPS component and WALLAH, life's good. I wonder if this is a quality issue with these GPS components - not everyone has this issue and those that do, always, by replacing the component, it seems to resolve the issue...unless you're pjurek (sorry mate). I did consider that before I decided on the SEL and in the end, I :wub2: the MFT, kwerks, twerks and all  -
Discussions with a car salesman today - Hybrid ignorence
Jus-A-CMax replied to catsailor's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, please report back - I really like to know how the regen works - is it aggressive like our CMaxs or not, feel of the brakes etc. It suppose to have 260+ miles a day and in theory, with the right regen and driving, this should translate to 300+. And don't light this one up, lol ;) Going back to Catsailors post, I saw they started advertising the Mirage and claiming 44MPG, that beats the official CMax EPA, not too shabby for a wee small car. -

Not if there is Micro$oft code in there, that would be a bridge too far to trust... ;) She does want one of those!!!! Don't they burn easily :baby: -
I see nothing new in the ford.com. If they are changing the styling, this would be reflected in the site with curves et al. Internally, its not surprising if they change and tweak things as rapier mentioned.

Good point with the ICE, mine is 10,200 miles out of 22,000 that is gas. Although I drive double of the "average" my ICE log is only reporting a "average" miles. I will keep Maxine for sometime as well now that shes all shiny et al. I can't convince my wifey on a hybrid...she still wants fast fast ala Cadillac SUV or another Jaguar. Next year or the following is the time to buy as the Jag is now getting up there...sigh. Plus she wants a lockable boot (translate to US...trunk). Women. -
Great question, Frank answered the snow tires so I'll leave this to him for us regular tire folks... For me, makes no difference when I was up in the snow with my higher PSI. Car handled great. Powder, slush and ice. It more about momentum control especially up grades and watching & avoiding the ice. No regular tire will grip in the sheet of ice...which is why they salt and throw the crushed "pebbles"

1st full day with my baby!!!! I :wub2: to drive this car! 68.1 MPG to work this morning, about 5 MPG less than my standard (or 0.02 more than usual). Surface street, peak hour. 60.1 MPG from work to my physician for treatment. Surface street. It does not make any sense to hit the freeway cause they are JAMMED. Its actually faster via surface street since its peak hour. 45.8 MPG from physician coming back via the 2 and the 118 @68mph and some big hills to climb. For those who live here, they know what I mean. 55.2 MPG total for the day, 70.8 miles. Not bad, considering I wanted to come home quick...its been a long day. Still felt out of kilter with the FE driving and re-learning to read the car and lights. Occassionally I would do something instinctive and I go "Oh...thats right"....or "Woo Wee".... :shift: Maxine is great, no sqeeks, everything performed and the steering is TRUE. Like as if she was never hit. Amazing job by Ford Auto Body down@Van Nuys. By the way, they are a rare factory certified repairer. This place was recommended by the Galpin Service Manager himself....I am impressed with their work and I think so is Maxine. I did have the BEST time driving today even in the worst of traffic. Whatta car

Brother Mike - that is FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!! If I could hit you with a 100 likes, I would. Thats the Christmas spirit!
-
Shes looking so, so sweet Liz. I drove her this morning to work and although my FE driving is still off kilter, it produced a 68+ MPG run. I think that now that shes outside in the cold and not in the garage (due to crap I have in there, its not helping to shorten the warm up cycle)...but it was fun AND FRUSTRATING as I missed the timing of the lights....oh what a game....

If they do, they better do something about that hump, the europeans will have a fit over that...based on knowing my friends there and their attitude.

It took me this long...but I went with this one too. Fleabayed it. I only wish they use a regular AAA battery instead the CR batt.
