How are the eCVT & associated electronics cooled, hope grill covers don't affect this cooling :nonono:
-
Good comments, hope the powers that be see this ! (Come to think of it the A pillars did seem a little large in the hybrid I sat in at the dealership the other day)
-
I wonder if the C-Max hybrid has a cellular modem like the Energi does ?
-
I've heard the Fusion's light normally comes on when the pressure drops to ~24 PSI in any tire - not sure if C-Max is the same - why did CNC's light come on at ~34, did it reset by itself ?
-
How about theft, that is my big concern - could a car thief use a bat and break it, is it flimsy ? (I don't leave anything valuable in sight)

Why do Ford's new hybrids ace the EPA fuel economy tests?

So the moral of the story is keep your highway speed down :) -
Body Side Moldings And Tinted Glass
rfruth replied to RedLdr1's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I bought from Sportwing a few years ago, still a happy camper http://www.sportwing.com/ford-c-max-finished-end-body-side-molding.aspx -
My Fusion hybrid doesn't have a weird filler and neck (that I know of) and it came with a funnel,, just curious whats different about the C-Max ? (Energi PZEV yes).
-
Wonder if the Fusion & C-Max use the same EAPS (Electric Power Assist Steering) system ?
-
Makes you wonder how useful the TPMS is ;)

A C-Max MPG eview that critiques the EPA test criteria
rfruth replied to AgentCMAX's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
The article says stop-start was practically invented to hack the EPA testing cycle - must be a slow news day -
No surprise the owners manual doesn't mention how to change the oil - if the oil life monitor is like it used to be it is dumb (only counts miles driven) also the 7500 mile change frequency is for gas only models, 10,000 miles for hybrids
-
So the EPA never tested the C-Max - all those window stickers are fictional, what am I missing here ?
-
Any problems with the regenerative brakes ?

When parking, keep foot off the brake when powering off

I'm no computer wiz but do have a Google doc for the C-Max https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Exm0foxOlQGuWltyorjeGY2nIMEdW6hnPdyMhv3r_J4/edit -
How does the car know if its dark enough, is there a light sensor somewhere, same on SE and SEL ?

My guess is a faulty 12 volt battery although the car did okay for a week after being jump started :headscratch:

Sure hope car thieves feel this way :-)

Is the check engine light the wrench light, shouldn't a code have been set ?

Most Toyota models are build here in the states but not the Prius (or the V), they are assembled in Japan using Japanese parts - where the money ends up is the important part (IMO) http://green.autoblog.com/2011/03/10/toyota-prius-v-wagon-production-japan/

Should be able to find it in the dark but sometimes can't - my 2010 lights up big time, after you find the button on the keyfob ...till then its pitch black - what was Ford thinking about, the 10 cents it would have taken to solve this !? The work around I use (2010 Fusion) is get the key / keyfob out & my finger hovering over the unlock button where there is some light :nonono:

Sounds like the car is capable of 47 / 47 but it may be spring time (when it starts to warm up & the car and the driver(s) are broken in before most see it
-
Good video, no surprises, the C-Max is heaver, quieter & basically a 'drivers' car, the Prius V is smoother riding than the regular Prius + more cargo room in the V so guess it comes down to what is important to you anyway it hints at a new Prius, what might be new, Li-ion battery yes, radically new body style ?

Weird fan noise from engine compartment at start up
rfruth replied to dtorres's topic in General Discussion
Most cars turn on the radiator fan when the A/C is turned on (if the fan wasn't on anyway) this helps with engine cooling, not sure how useful this is with the C-Max since it has a electric A/C though :headscratch: -
It does seem odd since the C-Max Energi has a fuel filler door that has to be released from inside the car, in Ford's defense most gas thieves are going to punch a hole in the bottom of the tank rather than hassle with the stock capless system but to answer your question locking caps are available http://accessories.ford.com/locking-fuel-plug.html
