  1. Just came in from the garage as I wanted to test out the ambient lighting in the dark garage. You have to put the headlamps on and there is a round knob up on the roof that you turn to adjust the brightness of the lighting and also there is a button with an artist's palette that changes the colours. Very cool. I put in a favourite CD and that Sony sound system sounds great. Now I am reading the owners manual to figure out a symbol on the dash. Maybe someone knows. It is a picture of a car with an arrow that points right and left. Hopefully it is something normal. Rachel your car will be coming soon!
  2. No more driving for me today--too tired from excitement. Went to the garage to back Tip out (husband was directing me as our two car townhouse garage is really marginal for fitting in two cars). My brain is on overload with trying to remember things like don't put your foot on the brake when your power off. So husband is busy making like an aircraft ramp controller and I turned Tip on with the button and thought I had put her into reverse to back and she wouldn't move. Immediately I told my husband "she is just like the cars on the forum and won't go into reverse". He pointed out that I was in park! She is so quiet that it is unnerving when you aren't used to that and have to rely on the gauges. Did I mention that I had to pose for pictures with Tip at the dealership as she is the first C-Max they have sold? Probably will have a lemon pucker on my face as I was tired by then. Rachel hubby did take photos of Tip and Pickle--should be able to get them up this weekend. Fellow forum members honestly I am not a flake, but I know I am sounding like one with my Tip stories from today. LOL Our dealership was first rate and very good to us today. I think we will get good support from them.
  3. Hybrid dude I picked up our C-Max today and it does have daytime running lights. I put regular headlights on awhile ago for a little trip to the grocery store as it is stormy--and forgot to shut them off and got some bell ringing to remind me to switch them back to running lights when I shut down the car. It is a great feature and I'm surprised it isn't universally available.
  4. Just home from a 3 hour saga at the dealership picking up Tip. Everyone was super nice, but super slow. We did the transferring of license plates, sitting through the extended warranty lecture, and transferring over my Smart Car as a trade in. We wound up buying that package where you pay about $2000 for a servicing package --all servicing paid for over the next 5 years. Who knows for sure if that was the right thing to do, but my eyes were glazed over by the time we got to that sales pitch. On our car insurance, we took out a policy where if you total your car anytime in the next five years the purchase price plus $5000 will be given to us. I think that was $1200. So I think we probably got stuff we won't use--hopefully. Tip is lovely. In the showroom, she looked sort of light green with a very light blue hue. Out in the pissing rain, she looked grey. On the drive home, she looked bluish again. Sort of a chameleon colour is what I would describe Ice Storm. We were pretty pooped and hungry what with all the waiting and signing so started eating peanuts from the vending machine. Stopped for lunch on the way home. Got a little frustrated with the nav. not recognizing voice commands, but that improved as we practiced on the way home. Forgot to say, that I drove it out of the showroom. She was parked on some little rug pads under each tire. Salesman opened the big garage door and I put it into gear and rocketed/lurched forward, stomped on the brakes, while two employees ran for cover and the brakes squealed as I stomped on them. Pretty embarrassing eh? Oh well they won't forget me LOL. Having a cup of coffee, will load up the dog, and take Tip for a spin without hubby. It is never easy with one's husband being co-pilot in a new car driving home in pelting rain. My nerves are a bit frayed.
  5. We will be picking up our C-Max in about an hour and a half! I tracked on the Blue Oval, but since you can only check once a week there the most helpful method for me was to get a copy of the Vehicle Visibility report from the dealer about a week after Tip was built. That report showed what rail car she was on, and then when I copied that down I used Scooter's suggestion of using CSX rail tracking. That way I could phone the 1-800 number and see where she was every few hours. All went well with that until I got the "bad ordered" comment which meant the rail car was broken down and she was switched to another rail car. I didn't have that number and by the time I was told that she was on the way, she was at the dealership.
  6. Never fear Scooter. I won't disappear. You will get sick of hearing about Tip LOL. And I'm waiting for your car and Rachel's and the rest of the forum gang to get theirs too. We will all have 47 mpg consistently and never have a dead battery, or have any trouble getting into reverse, or lose power steering, or have the nav freeze --fingers crossed for all of us. And for Rachel, Ice Storm will be the most beautiful C-Max colour ever made.LOL
  7. Rachel that is so funny as I was thinking about that tomorrow when I get back from the eagle tour. Also I was thinking of going in before my 11 AM appt. on Friday.
  8. I'm so excited that I can't concentrate on making dinner. I just set up the appt for Friday at 11 AM. The gal in the financing dept said she hadn't seen Tip yet as she just came in on the truck. I asked because I wondered what she thought of the Ice Storm colour. The manager walked through the door while I was on the phone with her, and said "I just saw it and it is beautiful! Tell her the fork lift didn't do to much damage".LOL That was in reference to my last email when Tip was on the broken down rail car with the "bad ordered" message and I said I was worried that a fork lift had wrecked her. Very reassuring to hear he thought that Ice Storm was beautiful as I have never seen that colour except on the internet. This is so exciting!
  9. Just now got a phone call that my car is at the dealership! They wanted us to pick it up tomorrow evening as that is when my salesman is working, but unfortunately I had to put them off until the next day. Two reasons --I have a boat tour tomorrow to see the bald eagles that appear by the hundreds to eat the salmon on the Harrison River, and hubby thinks evening is not great for going over the car as we might miss any boo boos when we inspect the car if the light isn't good. I will be totally preoccupied tomorrow thinking about Tip. But hurray she is here!! I'll be able to post some photos soon. Ordered Oct.5, but changed order on Oct.8th to add panorama roof Built November 8 Delivered to dealer Nov.28th (and that includes a rail car breakdown of 48 hours)
  10. Aha it was you Bob who posted that tutorial! Hubby and I both appreciated it.
  11. Since I don't have my car yet, I'm not totally sure what you are asking. But if you mean how to operate the gauges to show you what mode you are in, here is a tutorial that a member posted last week http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/index.php?/topic/553-nice-tutorials-on-youtube-about-configuring-the-displays/ Sorry I can't remember which member to give him/her credit.
  12. Hybrid dude I will let you know when I get my C-Max. All of our newer cars have daytime running lights as it is the law so I will be shocked if my car doesn't have them. I remember being surprised when we drove down to Palm Springs last year seeing cars without their lights on in the daytime. You see the odd beater here without daytime running lights on, but it is rare.
  13. Wow it will interesting to hear about the Energi here. Congratulations on your new car.
  14. I like your car's name "The Potato". I'm calling mine TIP (short for The Ice Princess). My husband refused to drive PIckle, my Smart Car, as he felt too cramped and the vision for him was poor as he is tall. When TIP arrives, maybe next week, I am hoping he will love driving her and perhaps we can sell his Lexus GX 460 as it is huge and guzzles gas. I think TIP will have enough technology to keep him happy and I think since we are retired we can manage with one car.
  15. You guys are wonderful with all this information. I will have lots filling my head when my car gets here.
  16. Sounds like a good company and worth doing.
  17. I think the shipping on rail cars really slows things down. The trains seem to move slowly and steadily through the rural areas, but slows down in the cities. I read somewhere that someone's car took 30 hours each time it passed a big city. We will all be bopping around by Christmas in our new C-Max's.
  18. That is kind of funny actually LOL. Imagine having your car confiscated for a crash test! I was imaging my car had already been crash tested by the rail crew, but seemingly she is okay.
  19. Good idea! I will participate when I get my car, but it might take me awhile to get to 1000 miles. My 2011 Smart Car only has 7000 kilometers on it (4200 miles).
  20. jmkinley sounds like you will have it before Christamas. That is good news! I just got an email about my car. The regional manager looked into her whereabouts and said all is well and she should be here Dec3rd. She had to be put on another rail car as her original one broke down. So we shall see.
  21. Congratulations and welcome to the forum. I hope you let us know all about how it goes as you drive your C-Max. I really like the Tuxedo Black as it looks elegant.
  22. RMS13 that sounds possible, but who knows for sure. My experience is that they have been glitches so let us hope your car has steady progress with no hiccups. I wonder how long it takes for the dealership to clean them up and go over them once they get there? Good luck and I hope to see a photo of your new car very soon.
  23. I read my scenario to my husband and he was horrified "you didn't post that did you? You just defamed CN railway". I told him it was a joke <g>. Well British Columbia is the pot capital of North America and our Prime Minister just said ain't no way Canada is going to legalize marijuana on my watch.
  24. The salesman emailed and said he can't find out anything. My imagination is in overdrive. i.e. Washington state just legalized marijuana and the rail crew probably were smoking weed and derailed the train and Tip was demolished. LOL
  25. I haven't heard back from my salesman, but I phoned the trace number again and now the message is "bad ordered, Nov.26th, Kent, Washington". I googled "bad order" on CN Rail and it means a mechanically defective or damaged rail car! Sheesh I hope my C-Max is okay and not squashed by a fork lift or something like that.
