Window stickers on Canadian C-Max's re: mileage
Laurel replied to Laurel's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
I'll let you know when they respond. I basically said what my window sticker had on it re: mpg and that I thought it was a big error which was another problem about mileage that Ford didn't need. Told them to tell me if my interpretation was incorrect. -
Window stickers on Canadian C-Max's re: mileage
Laurel replied to Laurel's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
I am still fixated over the Canadian window sticker, and still think it is wrong. It says 4.0 L per 100 kilometers. If I convert that to US gallons that comes up to 58 MPG. And converted to Imperial gallons that is 70 MPG. I wrote to Ford Canada to ask about this today. -
We tried a regular Fusion and sort of like it and decided to wait to test the Fusion Hybrid. I saw some info. on line about the C-Max and I called the dealer and asked her to let us know when a C-Max came in. She called at the beginning of October saying they had one. It was a SEL loaded with panorama roof. We loved it and ordered ours. It arrived 9 days ago. We are seeing C-Max ads nights on the six o'clock news time slot. No newspaper ads yet though. And we have yet to see one on the road in Greater Vancouver other than ours. Ours was the first one sold by the dealership.

Anyone noticed a problem starting in Reverse?
Laurel replied to CNCGeek's topic in General Discussion
I love that philosophy. I am the gal that starts hitting enter on my computer before it connects up to wi fi. -
Mine is not to let my husband drive my car. I feel like slapping him silly when I see all the leaves flying away LOL. I can totally see that individual driving habits are responsible for the hybrids with low mpg. It takes owning a hybrid to see the impact of lead feet, inattention to synchronized traffic lights, fast take offs, and sudden stops etc. If I was wealthy, I would buy him a C-Max and we would compare mpg for a few months and I would have proof.

I think the answer to this is that your car is in accessory mode only and not "ready to drive" mode. Hubby has done this once and I have done it once. Both times one of us was listening to the radio in the car on accessory mode, and then thinking we were in "ready to drive" mode because all the dash gauges, lights and music were on we put the car in reverse and it rolled back with no power steering. It then dawned on us that we were in accessory mode only. We stopped immediately, turned the car off, and then restarted it and drove off. I am thinking that is what others with this problem are doing. Edit: That is my guess as the accessory mode without the engine running is almost impossible to tell apart from the "ready to drive" mode as there is no engine sound with either. I think it would be very easy to assume that we are having a power failure of some sort. When I did it, I felt kind of panicky thinking that my new car was having the same problem as others on this thread when it was me not looking for the "ready to drive". -
Our SEL came with the carpet floor mats and we got them to throw in the rubber floor mats as part of our deal.

My husband cranks his up to 5 and I have mine on 3 until I warm up and then I turn it right off. I think the seats get hotter than our Lexus suv.

I read somewhere that you can use your iphone to link up photos with your phone contact numbers. Has anyone had any luck doing that? If so, how did you do it? Thanks.

We have the SEL. I am not totally clear what your question is, but the radio, gps, etc.turn off after you push the button to turn off the car and then open the door. The gauges and MFT screen all slowly disappear when you open the door to get out. I just read your post to hubby and he thinks you are asking about how to leave the radio on when parked. If that is so, just push the start button without your foot on the brake.

Welcome to the forum. I hope you get your C-Max before Christmas. I ordered on Oct.5th and got mine a week ago. We are loving it.

ctford had the power steering issue, and I think someone else on the forum. You might want to pm ctford and ask what the fix was. Good luck.

Great video--best one yet. I can attest to the 0 to 60 in 7's. I am the person who scared my friend in my rocket charged C-Max while merging onto the Trans Canada Hwy last week. So fast that I got heart palpitations and scared myself LOL.

I've had our C-Max SEL for just over a week. Just came back from 120 kilometer trip which was half free way and half city. I am getting 5.7 L per 100 kilometers. Translated that is 49 mpg Imperial and 41 mpg US. I think I am pretty representative of the novice hybrid driver i.e. doing nothing special, don't know much about hybrids, drive to keep up with traffic so generally drive 10 kilometers over the speed limits. I am pleased with how things are going and anticipate that mileage will steadily improve. Outside temperature today was 0 C for the whole round trip until I got close to home which is near the ocean and it warmed up to 2 C. Lots of rolling hills on the trip. I have under 500 kilometers on my car. So I am very perplexed at the drivers who are getting such poor mileage. Honestly I am thinking they are the kind of drivers who race up on your butt and floor it taking off at traffic lights. It just doesn't make sense to me otherwise. We are all pretty unaware of how poorly we drive and when surveys are done, the majority say they are good drivers. I just thought of one thing that poor mileage drivers might be doing as I did it once --sitting and idling while you warm up your car. I could watch the mileage go all to hell. So now I do what a forum member recommended which is turning off the climate and putting on the heated seats. I drive it like that for about 7 or 8 minutes until she is warmed up. My mileage isn't affected doing that and it doesn't take long before I can switch climate back on.

Use your VIN and get your window sticker (that will contain the build date). http://researchmaniacs.com/VIN-Number-Lookup/WindowSticker/Ford.html I know the demo cars at our dealer that we test drove were built in August and September and likely did not have the upgrades.

Disconnect low-voltage battery? (Frozen MyFordTouch screen)
Laurel replied to csavage7's topic in General Discussion
I just read page 287 of the owner's manual about disconnecting the 12 volt battery (doesn't say how to do it ), BUT there is a fairly detailed process that you have to go through once you disconnect the battery. It is 11 steps and it says "Note: If you do not allow the engine to relearn the idle and fuel trim strategy, the idle quality of your vehicle may be adversely affected until the engine computer eventually relearns the idle trim and fuel trim strategy". I am thinking disconnecting the battery cable is best left for the technician as it sounded damned complicated and tedious to me i.e. section 3 of step 6 says "Reset the power windows bounce-back feature". I would be pulling that power plug to the MFT and hope for the best. Good luck! -

I am thinking it is okay as I found this site which looks current for a download. http://outofmytouch.com/ -
What is the build date of your C-Max? If it was in the summer, it might not have the recent updates on it. It seems some people who have recently got their cars, have summer build dates. My car was built Nov.8th and seems okay so far --knocking on wood <g>.

Darell posted this awhile back from the Edge forum You have to scroll down and watch the video of the guy uplugging the power source in the fuse box rather than taking tiny fuses out that are easy to drop and not find again. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/8278-forcing-a-reboot/ -
Dusty I wasn't going to get it, but changed my order two days later and ordered it. Love it! Nice and airy looking and makes the interior seem lots bigger than the demo we drove without it.

Scooter that is great news! Do you have it in your hot little hands yet?

The compensation is really a very small amount i.e. the cost of the extra gas that you bought based on the mileage you have put on your vehicle, and the amount will be paid for the life of the car. I read that for most it was about $133 extra that they had pay for gas. So it is not like getting 35 mpg versus 47 mgp is going to net you a fortune if down the road the mileage doesn't pan out. It does cost Kia lots due to the large numbers sold i.e. multiple a hundred x50-100,000 cars sold, but for individuals it is a drop in the bucket. I remain optimistic as we have had our car for a week and are still on the learning curve and are doing better than you with our mileage per hour. Every time we take our car out for about a 30 mile jaunt our mileage improves by about 2 miles per gallon. But I will say that driving it is a very different experience to get those gains i.e. I have to be very attentive to the glide aspect and the braking to get 100% return. I have to be very careful to not get to engrossed in the gauges to the detriment of not watching the road. But slowly I am getting the hang of driving a hybrid. I think ptjones is correct in saying that there is an art to driving a hybrid and that art takes lots of time to get down pat.

Congrats Liz! You should be able to get your window sticker in a few days. I think it took about a week after my VIN before it came up.

That is a beautiful colour. Sounds like you will have your car by New Years.
