I have sent an email to my salesman asking what this message means "placed at customer location Kent, Washington Nov.25th". Kent, Washington is about 226 kilometers from the dealership and is in the States not Canada. Hopefully he will email me later. I wonder if they sent it to the wrong place?

Scooter I doubt whether it is Customs yet. I think she has entered the Bermuda Triangle of rail yards LOL.

I would think that the average of 39.2 mpg gallon is actually good. These are all new cars that haven't been broken in yet. My impression from reading this forum is that the C-Max owners are generally pleased and only a small minority are coming in with poor mileage. I don't understand the importance of reporting fillups on Fuelly??

I am planning on doing the same thing. So I will curious to hear any downside too.

My factory order was making steady but slow progress via CN Rail on her way to Vancouver, BC until last night. She was in Interbay, WA and then all of sudden went south to Kent, WA. She has been sitting there for 24 hours. Not sure what that is about? Prior to this hiccup, she was moving steadily at about 30 MPH. My ETA is Dec.3rd so maybe they know that the routine includes sitting in certain rail yards for extended periods of time. When she got to Interbay, I thought yipee as it would only be another 150 or so miles to Vancouver so I thought she might be mine by the weekend. Not looking that way now.

Welcome Skitime. I'm the same as Rachel in that we ordered the loaded SEL including the park assist (hubby wanted the park assist not me). I think all the bells and whistles is the way to go if it doesn't put you into a financial bind. But my car won't be here for another week or so, so I can't really comment on how they work. From my reading here, lots of people wish they had the back up camera and the feature where you program in your garage door opener and some would have liked the hands free lift for the rear hatch. I gather some dealers sort of gave the impression that the SE would have those things when they only come on the SEL. Oh and I remember someone wasn't too happy with the lesser quality radio versus the top of the line Sony radio that comes with the 303A package. I'm glad we got the built in navigation as I don't like carrying around the GPS either. But bottom line for me is the back up camera is a must as we have that in our other car and life is so much better with it.

erwhitham posted this today: "A factor not addressed here is weather conditions, especially heater use , which always affected my mpg with my Prius. On cold days with short drives, it was not unusual for me to get 27-29 mpg over most of the winter months. In spring without AC and on longer routes at 55mph I could be close to 47. However, averaging those conditions over a few months, I got used to less than thrilling mpgs. I was ok with this. Loved the Prius but was ready for a CMax with great options and a new style. The mileage I'm getting now is low 30's under similar driving conditions and heater use nearly every day lately. Because of a larger gas tank, I can get more miles before refilling." Obviously there are numerous factors involved in mileage achieved. HIs Prius didn't meet EPA in the winter Maybe it is the same for you? Stranger267 why wouldn't increased EV mode increase mileage? If you are using electricity versus gas, wouldn't your mileage improve? With our test drive, we took it on the freeway and when we stayed under 60 MPH the EV mode stayed on. A couple of the salesmen had taken the demo home on the weekend and drove on the freeway and commented that the car had not used any gas in the last two weeks. Are you meaning that because the regenerative braking isn't being used, then the engine has to come on more often --thus fuel consumption would increase on the freeway? My C-Max should be here by Dec.3 and it was built Nov.8th--so it will be interesting to see what mileage I get as I will have a newer build.

My husband has a cargo net on his Lexus SUV and we have had things like milk jugs and large jam jars come crashing out and breaking--because I over filled the net with groceries. I am going to buy some soft cargo organizers (collapsible boxes) for my C-Max. I saw some in the Ford Custom Accessories magazine for the Mercury Montego. They have straps on them to fasten them. They might fit, but I will research it more when my car gets here.

I saw on youtube that you can adjust the ambient lighting by going into the phone quadrant of the screen and look for settings and adjust it there. I don't have my car yet so that is just what I saw on youtube

Glad to hear your are liking it. Our salesperson says he will give us some Sync/MFT lessons which we will need. My first new car was my Smart Car which I liked a lot, but in the end it was too small for us. So the C-Max will actually be my first "loaded" car. Your mileage is good!

I saw Top Gun so you aren't convincing me that your inner Mario Andretti isn't alive and well LOL. You have a very interesting job.

I think the red with stone interior would be lovely. How are you liking driving the C-Max? Your delivery time sounds not bad. I just read that Canadian dealers are facing a scarcity of C-Max's.
-
Yes you did Rachel LOL. Tip is creeping along and now is just west of Spokane. Rachel I can't remember, but did you ever see the Ice Storm colour in person? Or are we both taking a leap of faith and choosing from the internet? I saw a Frosted Glass last week and didn't really like it much--too blue for me.
-
Just out of curiosity, how old are you drivers with less than advertised mileage? Wondering if age is a factor in driving techniques? I am ducking now waiting for rotten tomatoes to be thrown at me LOL.
-
Rachel congratulations to you and your dad! Mid-December doesn't sound too bad for delivery time. We will have twin cars--mine is SEL Ice Storm, stone interior and loaded too. Yes it is like waiting for Santa for sure. I have to stop myself from checking the railway site too often--no point really other than once a day as it is crawling every so slowly to western Canada. I have been cancelling appts around Dec. 3rd as I want to be free to race to the dealership when TIP is ready to come home.

Scooter my C-Max is on the slow train! Just checked and it is in Troy, Montana. So it took 12 hours to go 364 miles so I am thinking Dec.3 will be the delivery date. Now in Cocalla, Idaho and that 66 miles took 3 hours. Now in Odessa, Washington (another 60 miles or so) and another 3 or 4 hours. My goodness the train goes slowly.

Did you have turkey and all the trimmings today with your dad? I just watched the news and there was a horrific traffic accident somewhere in Texas--caused by a fog bank so take it easy on the road.
-
Best of luck Rachel! I hope to have pictures of The Ice Princess (TIP) within the next week or so. Let us know how you make out and have a safe drive.

Scooter my salesman just sent me a transit sheet for my C-Max, but nothing with a rail car number. Today it is in Minot, North Dakota. I'm not sure what route Burlington Northern takes to get to Vancouver, BC, but it seems to take a day or two to cross each state so Dec.3 seems about right for ETA. I found the rail car number in that transit report. What fun I am having now tracking my car LOL. It just left Havre, Montana. Not sure whether it will head up to Alberta or go through Washington state, but will check in a couple of hours and likely will have the answer. How cool is this Scooter! Thanks for posting the site.

Scooter I got an answer from my salesman. He said they got an update saying delivery will be Dec.3rd. He said that doesn't mean much as it could come in earlier. I asked about the railway car number and he had never heard of that, but said he would check and email me if he finds it. I asked him about some of the problems that forum members have been having and he said they had heard nothing of any problems and that the Fusion Hybrid has been remarkable free of issues so he isn't too worried. In general he was pretty vague when I talked about the dead battery problems and the car not going into reverse. i.e. no reports of problems. He also said deliveries to Canada were slow as they are behind in production. So that explains why there are none around this area. However I did see my first C-Max tv ad yesterday at prime time and it was from Ford Canada.

When parking, keep foot off the brake when powering off
Laurel replied to aschofer's topic in General Discussion
Sounds like a good possibility. I remember some other C-Max owner talked about seeing Battery Save when he/she shut off the car and then came out to a dead battery in the morning. We need a forum member who is a computer whiz to start a pdf on problems and solutions so we can readily print it out to take into the dealership if we have problems. Thanks for your thoughts on this. -
When parking, keep foot off the brake when powering off
Laurel replied to aschofer's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
I think I remember a C-Max owner saying he wondered the same thing as he had noticed his car going into Battery Save mode when he shut his car off, and then came out to a dead battery. Your idea is well worth trying. I think some computer whiz on this forum needs to start a pdf file with all the problems so it is readily available to print out and take into the dealer if problems come up. Thanks for your thoughts as they sound sensible. -
I don't know much about the traffic reports on the nav systems, but wouldn't that be an issue related to Sirius Travel Link versus software in the program? In Canada the Sirius Travel Link is only available as a trial and is not actually an available standard feature. Did someone contact Sirius?

I think you get a lot of snow in Pennsylvania--so the walking and/or an Amish bicycle/scooter might not go over so well. Seriously I have thought of ordering one of those scooter bikes since I watched an episode of Breaking Amish and saw one. They look kind of fun, and we have very little snow here on the South Coast of British Columbia.
